I couldn't have asked for a more perfect wedding. Chef Roland was the caterer at my sister's wedding 10 years ago. I am so glad that I decided to give him a call when I started planning. He is extremely popular so be sure to call him at least a year in advance, especially for the peak season. He gave me great advice on how to schedule the night to ensure a relaxing but structured event. His front of house manager Linda was very professional and understanding. She kept everything moving all night without a misstep--even when we had an unexpected vegetarian. They didn't just serve her a veggie dish as an afterthought- they served her this enormous grilled veggie tower that she raved about for hours. So, let's talk food! He had no less than 14 passed hot appetizers. From your standard; scallops wrapped in bacon and coconut shrimp to more eclectic items like lamb turn overs and braised arugula on crostini. My favorite by far was the goat cheese with pear on crostini! Two weeks later and I am still fielding calls and emails about the food! Then a wonderful creative salad, an intermezzo of lemon sorbet and for the main course- perfectly cooked tenderloin of beef with whipped sweet and white potatoes and sauteed seasonal veggies. Second to food is the value. You get all the appetizers, a three course meal, a desert bar with gelato and coffee and amazing service! All for a price that couldn't be beat by anyone- even those who offered cruddy food! The best is there are no tack on costs. No cutting the cake fee, no oops I forgot to mention we charge for this. None of that. He says up front what is covered and what you are responsible for. The final cost is dependent on the exact length of your reception but I over budgeted and underpaid. Much less stress! We have used Chef Roland's Catering for several parties we have hosted so the first thing I did as I started wedding planning was inquire with Roland and team on their availability for September 2018. There was no way I was getting married in Falmouth without Roland. When a caterer sets your wedding date--- you know they are good! Our wedding was unique in the way that we transformed our backyard and dock area into a venue for 280 guests. With limited tables and seating, Roland had to be creative in what he served so that it could be easily consumed standing. He rose to the challenge serving 15+ different kinds of passed hors d'oeuvres, assorted salads, beef tenderloin with fingerling potatoes and an extremely unique "Cape Cod Paella" comprised of a huge variety of seafood. Like our other parties, our guests raved about Roland's incredible food: "the hors d'oeuvres kept coming--something different every time!" "the roasted vegetables were so good I almost forgot I was eating vegetables!" "I've never had anything like this paella--amazing!" "I ate 4 of the delicious ice cream sandwiches--I couldn't stop!" Just some of the comments from my guests. If you are OK with mediocre wedding food complete with 3-4 generic hors d'oeuvres and a simple main dish, Roland might not be for you. If exciting and unique dishes that will wow your guests are an important part of your wedding, then hire Roland--you will not be disappointed! After reading the good reviews I called to inquire about having a family event catered. Whomever answered the phone was extremely rude, and as soon as I mentioned only 55 guests, abruptly told me they were booked and offered zero assistance or recommendations. Chef Roland catered my daughter's wedding two weeks ago. Without a doubt, he is the finest caterer anywhere. The food was extraordinary, and the guests could not stop talking about it. We hired Chef Roland to do our 2012 wedding and people are still raving about the food!! The appetizers were excellent as were the main courses and desserts. My sister has hired him for her 2014 wedding as well. He provides an amazing product at a reasonable price. Working with Chef Roland can leave some some Type A brides in a tither but at the end of the day, people will remember your special day and how great the food was. We attempted to set up our wedding catering with Chef Roland and were extremely disappointed. It took them over a month to respond to our emails with different excuses each time as to the delay. First it was one employee that responded, then chef roland's wife. Chef roland never talked to us directly. We asked for an estimate and itemized breakdown for our catering request. Their response, which came after three weeks and multiple emails from us trying to follow up was simply, "5 hours of service for $60 dollars per guest". This email never gave a cost breakdown or details whatsoever. We asked if we could edit the food list and figure out a way to reduce the cost since we are on a fixed budget by possibly reducing the hours of service as well. We were extremely polite in our request and wanted to have a discussion with them for options to stay within our budget. After waiting over a week to hear back from Chef Roland's wife we received an email that stated the following; "I spoke with Roland regarding your wedding, and we both decided due to the escalating costs of food and labor we are unable to work within your budget and meet your expectations....." 1) They never followed up with options as to meet our budget or expectations 2) Never asked if we could meet somewhere in-between on our budget vs. initial estimate. 3) Never spoke to us directly other than extremely delayed emails. I have no idea if the food is good or not, because they were so unprofessional that we never had an option to negotiate and hire them. read more

Chef Roland is outstanding!! He, his wife and their team catered our son's rehearsal dinner on 8/25/17 and everything was perfect!! We planned a clambake since we are on the Cape and had many out of towners. From quahogs and clam chowder to corn on the cob and a gelato bar - it was wonderful. The team had everything under control. They even set up my favors exactly how I envisioned before I got there. Easy to work with, outstanding food and amazing staff. I don't even know where to begin with this review. Hiring Chef Roland & team to cater my wedding was the absolute best decision we made. We met with Chef Roland 1 time before hiring him, and before even trying any of his food, because we loved his energy and vision. My husband and I are from NYC and we wanted a sophisticated NYC take on a cape wedding and that's exactly what he gave us. I'll start with the hors d'oeuvres which my guests still talk about constantly. There were ~15+ different hors d'oeuvres all absolutely delicious and different - from seared tuna in a cracker cone to mini lamb patties - each was memorable and so different from anything I've ever had or heard of at a wedding. Then came the dinner - the salad itself stood on its own. We had a goat cheese grilled peach summer salad.. one of the best salads I've ever had. As for the entrees, they were absolutely amazing .. we opted for seafood (lobster, scallops and cod) , steak and vegetarian and our guests RAVED about them all. I still can't believe how affordable it was to have lobster served at our wedding. For dessert we had a gelato station and passed mico desserts which were also a huge hit and way easier to eat while dancing. Chef Roland's team was extremely attentive during the entire wedding and made sure my wedding party/family had plenty of food and water the whole day. Pat was INCREDIBLE at managing her large team, I can't say enough about their professionalism and passion. We also hired Chef Roland for our brunch the next day and the brunch was delicious - I don't know how but they made quiches, sausage and bacon exciting and different. We chose Chef Roland to cater my son's rehearsal dinner and wedding reception, and couldn't be happier with our decision! Each event had a completely different feel, in different locations and with different menus..... and each was just perfect. The rehearsal dinner was a casual clambake, prepared in an easy-to-eat manner, and Roland went above and beyond to make it special. For the wedding reception, Roland outdid himself with his signature as well as newly created appetizers, and people were just raving about the food before the meal even started. The dinner was an outstanding surf and turf, followed by Roland's absolutely delicious signature desserts. Roland also provided the bartending service for both events, and quickly yet carefully provided guests with a wide range of beverages. While all of this sounds amazing, it was the special attention to the bride and groom that truly put Chef Roland's catering over the top. Chef Roland catered our wedding this past September and to this day, people continue to rave about the food- "it was the best food I've ever had at a wedding ". Chef Roland knocked it out of the park- the food was AMAZING! We gave him little direction in terms of a menu and he came up with a creative and varied menu that wowed our guests. Pat, his wife, and Linda, the on site coordinator, were extremely thorough and helpful. These guys are clearly one of the best teams in the industry! If I could give him 10 stars, I would. Hiring Chef Roland was the best decision I made in planning my wedding - by far. He and his staff are incredibly skilled, professional, efficient, and on point. It was obvious to me early on that I was in good hands, and that I did not have to worry (which is really saying something bcs. my wedding was on a farm with almost no infrastructure, requiring everything to be brought onto the site) - Chef Roland and his crew executed both nights of my event (rehearsal dinner/party and reception) totally seamlessly. And that's to say nothing of the food itself . . . . which was absolutely fantastic. I am a food snob, and having great food at my wedding was very important to me. Chef Roland blew us away - he cooks with his heart and soul, and you can taste it. There is creativity in his dishes, but they are always appropriately focused on the ingredients themselves - nothing fussy or over the top, just delicious and beautifully prepared food. My guests RAVED and are still raving about the food. Finally, I still can't believe how reasonable Chef Roland's pricing is. I feel like I got an unbelievable bargain. My good friend is in the industry and could not believe the amount and quality of food we got at that price. All in all, I can't think of a single thing I was displeased with . . . I had my wedding at Ballymeade Country Club and I could not have asked for it to have been more perfect!!! I cannot say enough about Chef Rolands Catering! Chef Roland is absolutely amazing. When we first spoke with him, we were a little worried about how informal he is. He is different from the other caterers; he does not have set packages and he does not give formal contracts, but his word is truly his bond. Before we met with Roland, we were worried about not being able to pick every appetizer that would be served at the wedding; and then we tried his food. It was so amazing that we were immediately OK with him choosing all of the apps for the wedding, and he absolutely over delivered. We had guests offering to pay the wait staff to leave a tray of appetizers with them, that is how much our guests loved the food. Roland also ensures that there is plenty of food; servers were bringing out apps until the guests said they could not eat anymore. Then came dinner. A month after our wedding and we are still getting calls asking who our caterer was. I have never been at a wedding and tasted anything as good as the filet that Roland cooked, and have gotten multiple calls from guests who were also blown away by the fish. We even had a few guests with serious food allergies. Roland was able to accommodate those allergies and ensure that those guests could enjoy his amazing food. Do yourself a favor and book Roland. Do not be put off by the informalness, this is one vendor that you can book and know that he will exceed expectations on your wedding day. This review would also not be complete if we didn't mention both Pat and Linda. Pat was extremely responsive over email and helped us through the process, and Linda also met with us to answer our questions and was there the day of to oversee everything and make sure that the wedding ran smoothly (we also had Linda make our wedding cake and it was delicious!!).
