Oh man I really wanted to love this place but I have to be honest - first visit mistakes were made, waited til 2nd visit in hopes would be corrected and still wasn't but I got stuck to pay for same services again - but the biggest issue I have is something that keeps getting pit on my hair , not sure what makes it feel like straw and no matter what I do fir 4 weeks ( I guess until it washes out) it's impossible to brush of comb thru! There are 2 other issues with this place that should be a priority fir the owners as well - the lighting is so bad until I get home in good lighting I can't see how messed up my hair is. The other issue is being stuck there fir over 3 hrs , and not even getting my hair cut. The only tune in my life I ever was stuck at a salon that long was for a Brazilian blowout. I use excellent shampoo and conditioner , it's free of sulfates, and then there is the ODOR , my hair smells like chemicals thru 3 washings . OYE VAY! read more

I will never refer anyone to them!!! How do you not understand Do not separate the back from the side and that's exactly what happened!!! I have a huge chunk of hair missing from both sides. Also, she said the back was too short and she decided to cut more. A bob hairstyle gone wrong. Every time the topic of hair comes up in passing at my office my co-worker gushes about this place. So Friday when I decided I was entirely overdue for a trim and had some time this weekend to get one I gave them a call hoping they had something available since my usual salon is always booked at least a month out. They had availability for the very next day. Then when I had to call them that morning 3 hours before my appointment because my pup had suddenly gotten very ill & I had to take her to the vet they were kind and even able to reschedule me for a later appointment that day. The place was very comfortable, fun, & relaxing. The staff was friendly and chatty. Instantly felt at ease like old friends. My appointment was with Mikinzi. She listened to my style, lack of skill, what I was looking for, what products I use, and my routine. She gave the best shampoo & really took a lot of time with me to give me simple, easy to follow styling lessons. The experience was beyond incredible and I really cannot say enough in praise. It's the first time I've gotten a trim & shape that didn't leave me feeling like I lost almost everything I was working to grow since I am trying to grow it longer. It's also the first time I've ever left a salon feeling like my hair was really styled the way I like it & the way that suits me. When I went to check out the cost was half what I pay at my usual salon & they didn't push a bunch of upsells and products. My hair feels amazing, I feel like a goddess, and a cute guy hit on me everywhere I went the entire rest of the day! I've already made my next appointment. I wanted to try a new place to get my hair done, so I tried Pink Mullet, and I absolutely loved it! Whitney did my hair and I have to say, it was the best cut/color I've had in a long time. After 2 sessions here I am not sure I will be returning. The salon is not the most luxurious experience which is expected for a lower cost however, I feel as though I am paying too much for what is being done. I have gotten 2 balayages and paid $200 for EACH (includes tip). While this may seem like a good price, each balayage was only half of my hair and each time, my hair became very brassy so matter what I did. Now after spending $400 on my hair, I am still not at my desired look and need to book another appointment.. Don't think I would recommend. read more

Based onYelp reviews, I tried this salon & had Crystal cut my hair. I also asked that she clean up a wicked-bad layering job that another stylist had given me months before. I've literally been wearing a fishtail braid, headbands, hats... Anything to avoid wearing my hair down. I had salon PSTD. However, Crystal blended & shaped my hair into a lovely, longer cut, w/ the blunt bang (vintage-look) I prefer. Good stylist! There was one short- haired, petite brunette stylist at the front of the salon who didn't say hello when I came in, just stared in my face and glared down her nose at me. #rude I might come back, I might not. Crystal is an excellent hairstylist, but I need a stress-free, pleasant salon experience. Why bother. There are always new places to try with other 5 stars. I can't stand attitude. read more

Amazing place. I was greeted immediately and I was able to get my hair done that moment. Sean daily was the guy who did my hair. So, kind. -- he sat my down and asked me what i wanted to do, but also, have me feedback of what he thought I should have done. I was a little traumatized at the way my hair was growing out, he knew just what it needed. The lady that did my hair took a lot of time on it and seemed very caring about my hair. But when I explained to her the uneven distribution of my hair color, she was very rude to be and didn't offer anything but a "peace" so she didn't have to deal with me. I spent a lot of money and time on this, in fact, I spent much more than she had originally told me.I will not be going back. I suggest you don't either. read more

I am speaking for my stylist alone, not for the entire staff... Every stylist is different. Sean is my go-to guy! I believe their prices are fair and Sean does a great job on my hair. He's very good at color and cut but be warned, he does take a long time so clear your schedule:) His highlights were well placed, he gave me a very nice cut. Terrible haircut. I tried this place based on the Yelp feedback. The stylist did a horrible job on my haircut and took over an hour to cut it. I had to duck into a restroom at my next appointment to try and fix it before I was seen, it was that bad. I set an appointment with another salon to try and fix the damage. Will not go back again. I sent an email asking for the salon management to contact me to try and reciter the poor service and they never got back in touch with me. All in all it was a very negative experience and I will not be going back. read more

I have been getting my cuts and color at Pink Mullet for over 2 years now and I love it. The staff is friendly and professional. Ryan is my stylist and I think he is wonderful. Fantastic experience. I'm new to Nashville, and was in need of a go to hairdresser here... Had my hair cut by Alex, I really recommend her! She cut my hair into a great bob. When she finished the first time, there were some tweaks I wanted to change and she took the time to do more cutting without making me feel bad at all. I walked out super happy with my new short cut. I only came for an eyebrow wax, so I didn't give it five stars based on my lack on knowledge on all services. The location is super convenient for me, and there is lots of parking available. My hairdressers name was Jessica and she literally gave me the best haircut I've ever had. She truly listened to what I wanted and took her time as to make sure she was doing just as I imagined. Jessica cut and colored my hair in December. The absolute worst cut and color I have ever experienced.

Pink Mullet just charged me $28 to put my 12 year old daughter's hair in a pony tail. Makenzie brushed her up into a pony tail, wrapped a strand of hair around it and pulled two strands of hair out to the side. What a complete rip off. The owner tried to tell me I got a deal because she normally charges $62 for a formal up do. Whole thing took five minutes. No exaggeration. I will never go back there. read more

I am from Nashville and currently live in Chicago. Last time I was home I went to Pink Mullet Salon and got my hair cut and styled by Ryan. I am usually nervous to get my haircut because I have long, thick, curly hair, however, Ryan did an excellent job! He knew a lot about different types of hair and gave me a great, new style. He was able to give me what I wanted in a way that best suited my hair. He took his time and the result was awesome. I have waited til I return home to get my haircut by Ryan because I am so confident in his work. I have never looked back :) I have been very happy since my first visit a few years ago. This is a professional, fresh and non fussy salon. Everyone who works here has great and cool hair style.....which makes me feel confident that I am going to be happy with my hair color. I am one that likes to "play it safe" when it comes to my hair....so it's been great to work with Laci who has always given me what I want and more! I have gone from brunette to red and am planning to be blonde soon. I also bring my teenagers from time to time to get highlights to all over color(they love it- especially the shampoo part) and the atmosphere is able to accommodate them and myself in a comfortable way . Whether your looking for something fresh and "out of the box" or something more traditional with just enough change to keep you from getting bored....this is your salon. read more

Do NOT go here. I had the worst haircut done by Josh. It took over thee hours to have my hair cut and colored and it was butchered. I need to start this review with a disclaimer: I have curly/wavy hair and have spent a lifetime hating it's texture and trying haircuts and styles that "I can live with" and wishing I didn't have to fear the rain! All girls with curly hair will know what I'm talking about. Jessica Vargas at the Pink Mullet has given me many wonderful staight hair cuts and has always styled it beautifully. I have always been very happy with her haircuts because they have always worked with my hairs' natural texture as much as possible. In the last year or so I've been on a journey of trying to focus on just making my hair super healthy, and that quest started with stopping the dyeing process and allowing my gray to begin showing. I don't have a lot yet, but after making peace with the idea of it growing in, I realized I liked it and didn't want to deal with a more difficult grow-out in the future. Jessica was supportive and got me through what could have been a painful process with no regrets at all. She has also been patient with me as I've tried all kinds of no-poo and low-poo methods of hair cleaning, and let's face it, most hair stylists probably don't want to deal with that! In the last few weeks I started trying to make friends with my natural texture using the Curly Girl method of cleansing. My my waves began to spring into curls here and there but still with not a lot of shape. I felt like a mess! When my next haircut appointment time came up, I called Jessica and told her I'd like to try a cut to enhance my curl and what I'd been doing to care for my hair. She immediately asked me what I had been doing with my hair and I told her. She instructed me not to touch my waves the rest of the day so that she could see them when I came in that evening. When I sat down in the chair, she was excited about my latest hair-journey and set to work giving me a cut specifically for curly haired people. Then she confirmed my washing technique and showed me how to set my hair for a more controled curl look and told me what to do for an everyday look. It was so encouraging to have that kind of help! A week has gone by and all I can say is WOW! My curls are springing to life all over the place and this after ONE haircut! I feel like Jessica has set me free from a lifetime of being chained to a blowdryer, wide curling iron (to remove frizz and straighten my hair,) and my umbrella! I even ran around in the rain this weekend and loved what my hair did after. Before this cut, after styling my hair always looked pretty darn great, now it looks and feels amazing, and I feel like the real me is shining through! If you have curly/wavy hair...and straight hair too, I would recommend a visit with Jessica. She is a wonderful stylist and I cannot thank her enough! read more

I work on cruise ships and so finding somewhere to get my hair done when I'm home on "vacation" is often difficult. I went to Pink Mullet on a recommendation from a friend because my highlights had grown out quite far and were in desperate need of some attention and love. Crystal knew, just from looking at my hair, what would be the best thing to do. She gave my hair a depth and gloss that I hadn't previously had and made my color look much more natural. The girls at PM are all wonderful and the salon itself is edgy without being frightening (if I show my 60 year old mother a photo and she says "Rock on", I think we have a winner). While I was having my color done, a woman brought her young daughter in for a trim on her birthday. The girl who cut her hair was unbelievably kind and playful with the child and it seemed like this was a very natural occurrence. Even if you're not sure what you're looking for, Pink Mullet is definitely worth the time and they'll all help find the style, cut, and/or color that best fits you. read more

I made an appointment for an all over color and a cut. When I walked in the door I had blonde highlights already in my hair and an idea of the all over dark strawberry blonde I wanted ( my natural hair color). I asked to see a color swatch. The girl doing my hair said they did not use them. I told her what I wanted and she tried to explain how we could get there. She went from saying we could do more highlights, then color over that, to doing an all over darker color. She seemed confused while explaining. All I know is I needed my hair one color for an event I was attending so I finally just told her to do what she thought was best to achieve the color I wanted. I ended up with dark brown hair. I asked why it was so dark and all she said was that she could do a corrective color the next day. I told her no thank you, paid, left a small tip, and left. That was about a month ago and my strawberry blonde hair is growing out. I now have to find a place to fix the two colors that is my hair. I will not go back to this place and I do not recommend it to anyone either. I seem to have the best luck with Aveda salons. I will try them next. read more
