Luckily, I have Pinos who first of all have wonderful tomato sauce for their lasagna, chicken parm, other pasta dishes.

First - about the rating. If we only had their pizza and salad, this would be a 5. We had been…read morehiking all day, and didn't feel like cooking at the campground, so we stopped in for an early dinner last Saturday. As it was early, there was only one other table in the restaurant. Any time it's a small Mom & Pop Italian place, we always get at least a slice or a small pizza to compare. Now the sign outside is obviously old (touting steaks, prime rib, strips etc.) so we figured they know their steaks. When I saw Steak Marsala on the menu, I was intrigued. Hubby, ordered the rib eye. We also ordered side salads. Let's start with the good - the salads were fresh with sliced red onion, cucumbers, grape tomatoes and again nothing to write home about, but fresh. The dressings were obviously not homemade. Now the small (10") pizza with extra cheese was phenomenal!!!! There was a ton of cheese, and yet the crust not soggy. It was perfect! Goldilocks would choose THIS pizza sauce - not too sweet, not to acidic. Just right. A note again about this wonderful crust - I almost never eat the outside crust on a pizza - this one I just had to. The not so good - the steaks. Very thin, cheap cuts of ribeye. Yes, I know rib eye has that kernel of fat, but this was almost 70% fat. The Marsala sauce was bland. It could have used more basic seasoning and some more Marsala wine - if they even make their own. My entree was inedible. Hubby eats his steak rare, and there was no way they could make this super thin cut rare, so of course it was over. Here's the thing. He is a steak lover and a purist. He loves steak for the taste of beef alone and never, ever has sauce or anything on it. He asked for A-1. That should tell you something. And interestingly, the A-1 came in a small plastic salad dressing container. Not a bottle. Weird. Do they only have one tub of it in the kitchen? Come on Mimmo's, you can do better. I get that food costs are astronomical in this economy, but your customers deserve better. Take the steak off the menu, if that is what you are going to serve. With so few restaurant choices in this area, you could be amazing with some tweaks. The place started filling up, so the locals do go here. You could be the most popular place in town, if you tried a bit. We actually wanted to go back tonight for that amazing pizza (but they are closed on Monday). There are enough good things (did I mention the pizza?) that we will be back when in town again.

I had a ham and pineapple pizza. My husband had a Rueben sandwich. We both enjoyed our food. We ate…read moreinside but I noticed that they had a nice outside seating patio. We both enjoyed our food.

We stopped in for a few cold beverages and something to snack on after walking and walking all over the hotel. I just happened to talk to the concierge and she pointed out all the restaurants at the hotel. We shared some yummy truffle fries. I wanted some coffee with Irish cream but no such luck. Only for brunch. So moscato it is! Dessert was a scrumptious carrot cake, very rich and filling. Be back soon!

Not sure how gooey or sticky they were, but tasted nice and the buttermilk dressing cut the heat. It was a nice change from Ranch. The pimento cheese is rather tasteless, but created a nice creamy cheese burger. Stand alone, the pimento cheese would stand up to most store bought varieties. The beef was perfectly cooked, well seasoned, and had great texture. This wasn't a frozen patty. Same spot serves breakfast and I was up early. I would recommend the baked French toast with blueberries and maple syrup if you're in the mood for something sweet. The maple syrup is the real deal, from the tree, not Mrs Butterworth. Again, seemed house made as the layers of French toast were distinguishable. The sausage was great too and almost had a scrapple taste to it. The playing was funny. Why two plates? The sausage looks so lonely and small. Sadly, the coffee is poor quality, but if you can wait, there is a Starbucks only a short walk away on Longwood's campus. Overall, pretty good spot.

First visit was today, with fam (who are regulars)... and we are already planning what to indulge…read morein next time. Our pictures are after we ate because we were starving for a late lunch and once we started eating... we could not stop. Upon arrival we were the only people there, scary, but my brother informed me they were usually packed, so we figured everyone was shopping. (The place was filling when we left). Our server, Tammi, was very polite, friendly, anticipated our needs and checked in exactly when needed. We (read I) were kinda needy but she served us as if we were not needy. Luckily they were not busy but if they had been, I have no doubt that Tammi would have provided the same high level of service. She took very good care of us. The place was clean, tables, booths, large booths and a small bar. Decor was comforting and welcoming. The pricing was on point based on large serving sizes... however, based on TASTE... They might be underpriced. We had a XL pizza... nice crispy crust with plentiful toppings. Simply divine. The sauce and cheese were both excellent. The buffalo sauces naked wings were mildly hot and a good size (winglettes), tender. Ida've liked the skin a bit more crispy but the flavor was as expected so we had zero complaints... plus they came out fast! We had Ranch, which was also as expected - taste. But the salad! I added cheese to the house and was sad that there were no croutons... but, as Tammi told me: the house dressing is liquid gold. Yup. It was. Kinda a zippy creamy Italian... Im thinking creamy Italian with a touch of French for the zip. No matter how they make it, it is freakin' liquid gold. I had the chix fett. alfredo w/extra sauce on the side. Most excellent. I loved the sauce and the portion size was large. If you are a regular you know about the fried catfish (it's not on the menu)... the breading was not too heavy and the flavor was perfect. It is an appetizer but perfect for a meal for one. My husband had the ribeye w/baked potato. First- the tater was not the sissy size you'd get at a chain, say, at Red Lobster, this tater was the size you'd have at home. Not overcooked and served foiled wrapped and hot! Not sure of the weight before cooking of the steak but it was a large cut. Cooked at M-rare it was maybe a 1/4in thick. It was not as tender as I like (Im picky) but it was cooked exactly M-rare and the taste was awesome! My husband loved it! Oh, the iced tea tasted fresh... and the sweet tea was sweet tea. We wish we had room for dessert. We took a bunch of food home.... Bottom line: clean place, excellent service, lotta food for your buck and every single thing we ordered was cooked to perfection. Can't wait to go back!
