Mercat De La Boqueria is one of Barcelona's foremost tourist attractions. It's a public market where you can get all kinds of items or you can grab a bite. A bite at Pinotxo Bar. Not quite a bar as many would think - it's a food stand with counter seating and a few standalone tables. Meaning, probably not a place you'd want to bring a big party. Seating is first come, first served and you may have to stalk diners finishing up so you can swoop in on the seats before you lose your chance to sit and enjoy some tapas. My friend and I shared four dishes (see pics) and I have to say I enjoyed them all with the exception of the octopus dish. Not because of the flavors - but because it was overcooked. Mushy in the middle. I don't know if it was an oversight or if the dish is intentionally served that way but I prefer a more chewy consistency. Service was excellent. The chef, also happened to be the primary person helping us, though the rest of the team also jumped in with cleaning off empty plates, serving and closing out the tab. I know Barcelona has lots of great places to eat and I'd add this to the list of places to revisit to try other dishes.

Another tapas bar located in the La Boqueria market we saw one of the pastries that we wanted to try. So we just order it for take way. Our reciept said xuoxi not sure if that's the name of it or just a generic name for a pastry but it was so delicious. The outer crust was so flaky and light like a malasada and filled with a custard cream. I highly recommend this pastry can't say if they are all like this If you find one at a different pastry shop. But this one was amazing.

i'm so glad i decided to stop here on my last morning in town, and i only wish i'd had more time to each more meals here. their breakfast though, i can speak to, and it was amazing. a cream-filled fluffy fried dough delight, rolled in sugar. paired with a cafe con leche, and you have a decadent start to a day of walking and winding your way through barcelona. service was great, and you can tell there's lots of regulars. they were attentive as i ate at the bar and made sure i had everything i needed. the ambiance probably changes dramatically throughout the day. i was there early, watching the market wake up as folks strolled through. it probably gets very loud later in the day. i enjoyed the morning calm

With so many restaurants at La Boqueria, how do you choose which one to go to? Pinotxo Bar is a great choice, but good luck finding a seat if you're coming at peak times! Everything they serve here is delicious and you can't be surprised with the bill because it's smack dab in the middle (tourist price). So, I recommend coming here for the good eats and atmosphere, but probably no need to come back again due to the uber high prices. Always keep an eye on your belongings!

Whenever I visit Barcelona, I always make sure I eat at Pinotxo Bar! This trip I introduced my hubby and he loved it so much we came back the next day with my brothers. Pinotxo Bar is located at the front of the La Rambla in La Boqueria Market. The seating is either at the counter or table surrounded. They don't have too many seats so expect to wait a little when they are busy. Every dish was so tasty and delicious you really can't wrong. Also, their sangria is one the best.

They changed their name by the way! Very good. Highly recommend the steak. The i Erick and eggs was very good as well. I liked the papas fritas that came with it. They were very friendly and encouraged me to get fruit and juice from vendors and bring it back to my seat.

The name changed and it's now called El Mitic Bar. Best breakfast in my life. That pastry with the cream is heaven and the potato and egg frittata thingy is perfection. Thanks Chef Andre for making sure we didn't miss this!

You must make this mandatory visit to Pinotxo Bar. Come here and try the garbanzo beans and sardines, and if you don't like sardines try theirs! They open at 7am ( pretty early for the market) but not all items will b available. We came here a total of 3 times on our trip to Barcelona because we could not get enough. We tried this spot out by accident and it became our favorite! Upon visiting this bar we found that this place has been around and is a staple of the Boqueria market. So much history with the family owned business, and on so many blogs and shows! The service is so good as well and no matter tourist or local you get that local vibe and if you are touring they r so kind to give you tips and about everything. This will be an unforgettable spot in our hearts that we will leave behind in Spain

The Mercado on las ramblas is one of the most iconic places to check out in Barcelona. We stopped at Pinotxo bar for tapas, our wait was about 20 minutes for a few seats at the bar. Ambiance was fun since it's a very active market. I really wanted this place to be a lot better but once I saw they were microwaving food to warm it up I knew it wasn't going to be amazing. The food was average, we tried a few of their popular dishes but it wasn't my favorite tapas of the trip. Do recommend stopping into the Mercado and trying any of the places even if it's just to sit down and have a caña aka a beer.

Very friendly service, very delicious food. The waitress noticed my visible confusion and fascination with the cuisine and kindly walked me through each item they served. I ordered the deer skewer, my wife ordered the clams and squid & beans. This place is unassuming when you walk past, but had the best food we had on this entire trip. Incredible and friendly service, delicious food, and a memorable trip because of this place. Edit: We learned only after that the bartender, Juanito, is famous and this shop is apparently very popular! As it should be.

You're in barcelona, walking to this amazing food stall area, and are wondering whether or not this place right up front is actually good or if it's a gimmick. Fortunately, you look it up on yelp and see this place is THE place to go. It was definitely our favorite in Barcelona. It's unassuming. A small stall with bar seating around the counter. A menu that hangs up top and is hard to see (and is only in spanish). But then you're greeted by a friendly team (family?) and feel at ease. You can see their fresh seafood all around the counter and also see them cooking behind on the grill. Everything they do is with finesse and is simple, yet overly flavorful. What we got: - Grilled red shrimp: Beautifully dressed, super fresh, light sweetness to the shrimp. Delicious. Right amount of olive oil/rock salt - Fresh lobster: You can see the lobster still moving in the case on the counter. They grill it right in front of you and it is absolutely amazing. Pricier at 25e, but well worth it - Fresh grilled prawn: Smaller than a lobster, bigger than a red shrimp. Another big winner that was nicely seasoned and tasted fresh - Codfish salad: This didn't look like much but everything they did, from the presentation to the mixture of flavors was absolutely delicious - Chick peas with meat: I couldn't imagine ordering the chickpeas. But then you realize every. single. table. orders the chick peas and you have to try it. We ate that thing so quickly, as it was super delicious and something they are known for - Squid with beans: Another result of sitting at the bar and seeing other people order it. Fresh squid, nicely dressed beans ( I don't usually like beans) lead to a winner here as well. They have a solid alcohol and coffee selection as well. Come here for the food and the vibes. You won't regret it!

I wandered into the market on one of my very first mornings of full exploration in Barcelona and told myself I'd pick up a few bites to eat here and there, really having not done any research of the stalls and highlights here. Once I'd wandered the perimeter and up and down several aisles I'd spotted several folks consistently waiting for a seat at the bar at Pinotxo, truth be told I was curious. I stepped out of the market for a minute to do a little research and realized, yep! I'm probably going to want to grab a stool here for myself and order some dishes. I wasn't entirely sure what to order but I started with a beer (for breakfast, sure why not?! I'd already had a flat white and a fresh orange juice ;) I asked for some seafood suggestions and opted for the octopus salad and grilled shrimp. I then realized I also needed to try the garbanzo beans although there are several mentions of pig blood or something - I just tried to put that out of my mind. The garbanzo beans were hands down my favorite item here. They are a definite not to be missed, MUST order item. So good!!! Service was good, food came out quickly and was tasty. I'd say eat here, because you are here you know and definitely get the garbanzo beans.

This place left me and my wife smiling !!

Great food. Nearly every place we have eaten in this whole complex is GREAT!! Only complaint is I wish I had a bigger stomach in order to enjoy more of the perfect foods found at this amazing complex!! Nearly every place is highly recommended for lunch and breakfast!! Prices are very affordable and the ambience is festive!! Would recommend this place to friends and enemies alike!! If all world had food like this there would be no wars!!

NGL, I'm someone who gets overwhelmed and gets tunnel vision. I'm a sheep following the shepherd-- in this case, if you throw your body & a menu in front of me, I'll easily walk in. I'd seen great reviews online about their namesake pintxos, but the menu had so many options and none that clicked with what I was looking for. I was hungry, so I sent it and ordered a few items from the classic tapas: the Squid in Ink Croquette and the Patatas Bravas. The croquette was incredible and so flavorful, while the Patatas Bravas were the complete opposite. The potatoes tasted bland and stale, and the sauce on top was just... meh. I hated how let down I was!! As I was finishing up my meal, I noticed a few people coming in and were sitting at the bar--not usually the most go-to spot when there are plenty of tables open. However, as soon as they sat down, they began grabbing items from the display. I went to check it out and lo and behold--PINTXOS!!! I asked my waiter, and he explained the process: pick what you want, enjoy and pay for what charge you grab at the end. And honestly? They looked and tasted so much better and were way more affordable than what I ordered!! Disappointed I spent so much money, but consider this a lesson for anyone reading!

The place had a welcoming vibe, and pintxos were on offer, so we figured why not? Overall, it was a good lunch, but the selection of pintxos was pretty limited - not nearly as robust, creative, or flavorful as a few other places we'd tried earlier in the week across town. Nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out either. Service was okay - efficient but not particularly warm or engaging. You definitely get the sense this is a spot that sees a lot of tourists, and the staff may be a little weary of that constant flow. At the table next to us, a group of fellow American travelers were all eating burgers and fries... which kind of summed it up. While the restaurant does not look super fancy, it's got a pleasant atmosphere and a nice decor. We walked over around 6:15, which is early for dinner, even for us. The server explained that they had some tapas available, but the kitchen didn't open until 7. We said we'd be back and he booked us a table on the spot. (lucky us as they had a party of 16 locals and the remaining tables were booked except ours!) We wandered to another place for an outside glass of wine while we waited. At 7, we went back and explained Uncle D's shellfish allergy to Mark, our server and asked about recommendations for things we might try that would work for the allergy. He was so kind and advised against certain items that had shellfish or were cooked in the same oil as shellfish. Bless him! We shared the tapas of a pulled pork sandwich, (in a small bun), and a cheese plate with cubes of cheese in olive oil with black salt flakes, and finished with sharing a main course of oxtail, which we were told takes 32 hours to make! All were delicious and we were thrilled we had gone there. The second and final night in Barcelona we were tired, didn't want to have to figure out where to go that might not be too close and decided to go back. This time we booked a table about 45 minutes before we wanted to be there. Lucky there was a table for 2! When we walked in, we were recognized and greeted like family! Mark even remembered our names, shellfish allergy and the wine we had enjoyed the night before which we wanted again. We ordered the same cheese tapas as it was so delicious, along with the chorizo casserole in apple cider, with a main course of the sirloin steak with potatoes and padron peppers. The steak dish was brought out before the chorizo dish accidentally. We opted at that point to have the chorizo dish after. Steak was cooked a perfect medium rare, potatoes crispy outside and soft inside and the padron peppers tasty but mild. Again, absolutely delicious! By the time we were halfway through the steak dish, we knew we had no room in our tummies for the chorizo dish. We asked if it was possible to cancel the chorizo dish, but if they had already started cooking it then it would be ok. Mark was gracious and canceled it for us. At the end of the meal, Mark brought us a glass of a local liqueur that was wonderful. The food, the service, the atmosphere... and both nights local folks enjoying along with tourists, all fabulous. All that to say... if you have the chance to go to this wonderful restaurant, do it!
