No one around when I ordered and picked up but food looks like it was made by a 3 year old. Totally disgusting For $72 I expected better. Never again!

Never been here before until today. Apparently it's under new ownership and this place is top 5 best Thai joints I've ever ate at. Wow. Couple of photos below. One is of the green curry. The hottest heat on it. Be warned it's extremely spicy. But it's so tasty! The other picture is a half eaten Phad Thai with beef. Food is amazing. Service is great. I will be back weekly for this gem of a hole in the wall. If you like Thai food, give this place a try! Be warned, sodas are a $1 refill charge but I wouldn't even bat an eyelash at that over how great the food was.

Wow! This place is outstanding! My Phad Thai was amazing. I was suppressed at the flavor. I'm not from this area and found it due to the great reviews and i was not disappointed. 10/10 all day.

This place has excellent thai food. The portion size is gigantic and the flavors are so authentic. I definitely recommend this place.

The food here is always fresh, delicious, and flavorful. My husband has ordered pad Thai each time we've gone, and loves it, and my daughter is a huge fan of their orange chicken. Their basil chicken is amazing: spicy, complex flavors and loads of protein AND veggies. I forgot to take a photo of our cashew chicken, which wasn't the best I've had but was still tasty. I also forgot to take a photo of the larb we ordered, which was larger than we expected and full of garlicky flavor. Rather than served with lettuce wraps like I've had at other Thai restaurants, this is served over a bed of lettuce like a salad. We took one of our friends here for dinner when he visited, and he had the pad see ew. He didn't mention anything specific about the flavor, but he usually doesn't eat much and he demolished his entire plate (which was NOT small)! The service is pleasant, although a little slow. However, this is a small family restaurant, so I expect it to take a little longer. Don't go here if you're in a rush, but it's definitely a good place to eat if you want to take your time, relax, and enjoy the company of your group.

I haven't been in a while but I must say it is still delicious! I'll definitely add them back into the rotation!

Absolutely delicious! One of the best Thai restaurants I have been to. Enjoyed the massaman curry and pad kee mao!! Will definitely be back!!

I'm not a thai aficionado and have really only ever had Pad thai so coming here today I wanted to try something different. I saw reviews saying the drunken noodles were good so I went with those (they're named something else on the menu.) This dish was very spicy and I'm not big on spicy foods but the flavor was great so I just had plenty of water handy to combat the spiciness. The dish has so much going on and many different vegetables and they all complement so well together. And the portion is massive so I'll be able to get 2 meals out of this minimum. Inside isn't much but a few tables so Id encourage take out if you're wanting to try it.

The guy working the front counter was great help he was really good at talking up everything on the menu. Because when I walked in and asked the very nice guy at the register what their best item was, he didn't hesitate for even half a second. "Fried chicken club sandwich. Hands down." Not "one of our burgers." Not "depends what you like." Nope. Immediate confidence. The kind of confidence that makes you trust a stranger with your financial future. So naturally I ordered exactly that. He even doubled down and told me it was the best sandwich he's ever had. Ever. That's a dangerous level of hype to put on a chicken sandwich. At that point I wasn't ordering lunch anymore. I was preparing for a spiritual experience. I got the sweet potato fries on the side and sat there waiting like a kid staring at the oven on Christmas morning. Then the sandwich arrived. And honestly? Visually, this thing deserved its own entrance music. Beautiful sandwich. Crispy golden chicken, stacked perfectly, looked like it had been assembled by a food stylist with relationship issues. I took the first bite and immediately realized what was wrong. Flavor had called in sick. The chicken itself was cooked perfectly. Great crunch. Juicy inside. Beautiful breading. But somehow nobody introduced it to salt, pepper, seasoning, spices, or joy. It tasted like the kitchen spent all their energy making it look incredible and forgot the whole "taste" portion of the assignment. My colleague ordered the exact same thing and had the exact same reaction, which honestly made me feel better because for a second I thought COVID had made a surprise comeback. The sandwich was one shake of Cajun seasoning away from greatness. The sweet potato fries were solid flavor-wise, but a little limp. Not tragic. Just lacking that crispness that makes you keep stealing fries after you're already full. This place feels like a really good concept that just needs somebody in the kitchen to become emotionally invested in seasoning. Three stars feels fair. Nothing was bad. Nothing offended me. It was just aggressively average after being introduced with Super Bowl-level hype. I'd come back, but next time I'm ordering an actual burger at the place called Baja Burger. Feels like that's probably the safer bet.

Another excellent addition your list of Thai restaurants in Birmingham!…read more They've only been there for 6 years and I finally made it. Even though I didn't dine in, I appreciated the beautiful decor and the attention to detail. Gone from their early days during the pandemic when they were take out only to their newly renovated and larger dining area. There's nice bar with stools nearly centered in the restaurant. Employees are more friendly than you can imagine. Located on 280 near the Greystone entrance, YYST is on the right in a small quaint strip shopping area that's raised "above" 280. So if you're driving by you can see YYST by looking up. There's no outdoor seating, but plenty of tables and chairs inside with seating at the bar. They are quite proud of their Yelpies 2025 award for "Beloved Birmingham Business" which sits at the front entrance. Their menu is comprehensive with the right amount of dishes to satisfy. Every "Thai" place seems to have their own take on most dishes and YYST is no different. Their "recommended" entrees include Mango fish, Pad Thai Chakangrao, Massamun Short Rib, Pad Thai Wings and Panang New York Strip. Then they also have "Signature Plates" whose menu descriptions had my mouth watering. There's also stir fry, curries, salads, and even a lunch menu. Since I wasn't dining, I was going to do my litmus test and try their version they call Beef Drunken Uncle noodle. I also ordered their Fresh Basil Shrimp Rolls, and Bangkok market fried rice. I waited at the bar for about 10 minutes when my packaged meals arrived. I was offered a glass of cool water as I waited at the bar. The rolls were wrapped in saran wrap and I would guess were probably made a couple of days ago. Nothing wrong with that except I got unlucky and rice paper wrapper was almost crunchy. They were a little heavy on the use of lettuce, but each had 4 large fresh shrimp. The taste wasn't anything spectacular BUT their version of the dipping peanut sauce saved it. Yom Yom Yom! The fried rice was delicious. Tossed in a wok with eggs, onions, chinese broccoli and their house sauce, I had beef added as the protein and it was delicious. My Drunken noodle was very good! This traditional street food inspired dish is a classic. Wide noodles tossed with snap beans, garlic, onions, bell peppers with thai chili and basil, their version is quite good! It had great flavor and an excellent representation of the drunken noodle. Next time I might have to pay extra for a fried egg on top. Yom Yom Yom Yom! I'm glad I finally visited YYST. I am looking forward to returning and this time dining in. The Panang New York Strip and Mango Fish have my name on them!

Great service, lovely decor, impressive playlist, delicious wings and refreshing drink. I like that they offer mocktails and serve in generous portion compared to many places. The Zaap wings are a must if you're a wing person. I am not a huge wing person. We got both dry and sauced to start--both yummy. I'm a big fan of Thai food so I've had really good Thai food and sub par. The crispy spring rolls were good but pretty standard like most restaurants or what you can buy in the frozen section. I ordered Drunken Uncle noodle with chicken but it wasn't even "tipsy" lol - not a ton of flavor nor moist enough to be drunken. Edible but Kinda pasty and lacking so the 3-3.5 rating factored in to my overall is mostly due to my noodles but the rest of the experience I am pleased. Maybe I just didn't order one of their best entrees. When my friend had her basil fried rice dish redone with no egg she loved it, and it looked good too. She got it with tofu. Before that something was off but the staff was very accommodating and kind. They wanted to make it right so she'd be pleased and she was. We took our moms out on Mother's Day weekend as a treat, and they seemed to enjoy their whole fried snapper which comes on a bed of lettuce with rice & sauces on the side. The three flavor fish comes with 3 sauces and there's also a mango fish. The location is convenient and I'd return to try another dish or one of their curries. They were running a unique set of menu items especially for Mother's Day weekend but it included food items none of us eat.

We decided to come on a Friday night I did make reservations beforehand and I highly suggest making them especially on the weekend and you can make them online through their website. On this evening, they had Tyler Giddens playing his keyboard and singing along. He was very good and I was able to chat with his wife and she told me that he plays around town so I definitely look forward to hearing his music again. Fowler was our server and he was very attentive. We started off with the brussels sprouts and the pork belly nachos. They were both equally delicious. Last time I was here I got the chicken tacos and I was so impressed. I got them again. My son got the Mac burger, which he completely devoured. My brother got the short ribs which he enjoyed. He also got a to go Mac burger as well. This time instead of Mississippi mud pie I got the monkey bread which was very delicious and it had apples in it as well. I love how the staff gets to wear whatever they want, and they can express their style. I did visit the restrooms and they were very clean. The only negative is sometimes the parking lot is real busy and if it is, you kinda have to park across the street. It's not a far walk but a lot of the drivers at the Summit area. They tend to drive crazy. I will definitely be back. I haven't had a bad meal here since I've been coming. Not sure why, but it wouldn't let me post any more pictures.

Only took me two years but I finally had a chance to sample!…read more As much as I hated Macaroni Grill leaving, I was excited to hear that Culinary Dropout was going to be in Birmingham. Sharing a parking lot with PF Changs at the Summit, CD has ample parking and right at the corner of 280 and 459 so finding the place would not be a problem. It's actually in a great location at the Summit where you can have a nice meal, then head over to the AMC practically next door for a movie or go shopping at the shops at the Summit. Backed by James Beard-nominated restaurateur Sam Fox, CD now has 13 locations nationwide with this one opening back in March of 2024. Thus, the restaurant looks great with high vaulted ceilings, brick patterned walls and a clean contemporary look with booths and tables scattered throughout. There's a nice large bar that serves beer, wine and cocktails. Above the bar are large screen tvs and to the side is a small carved out area with a small stage for live entertainment. They can entertain group dining and with the tvs, bar and a stage, a nice gathering can be had for all. Outdoor covered seating is also available making a cool weather brunch outside a nice option. Their menu is diverse but comprehensive and include everything sandwiches and soups to pastas and burgers. Some of the stand-outs on their menu include Detroit Pizza, Fried Chicken, Rainbow Trout, Roasted Salmon, Beer Battered Fish & Chips, Korean Style Ribeye, Meatloaf and 36 Hour Slow Roasted Pork Ribs marinated in jalapeno BBQ sauce. One of my favorites was the Soft Pretzels & Provolone Fondue starter that I had heard so much about. The bowl of round pretzel balls coated with just the right amount of salt arrived soon after our drinks. A small little cast iron bowl filled with provolone cheese rested on a base with a tea light underneath to keep the cheese warm. Tearing open a pretzel ball, dipping in the cheese... Yom Yom Yom Yom! Our table ordered Fish & Chips, Prime Rib Dip sandwich and Fried Chicken. I tried some of Jeff's beer battered fish. Fried to a beautiful golden brown, the crispy batter hid a tender, flaky cod (I believe) that was delicious. Tammy got the prime rib dip sandwich. It arrived with a small cup of au jus, fries and a slice of pickle. Tammy enjoyed her sandwich but wished there was a little more fontina cheese and horseradish creme fraiche. I sampled the fried chicken plate. Be ready to get messy with your hands because it normally consists of a leg, thigh and half of a breast. The nicely fried seasoned breaded exterior had just the right crunch revealing steaming juicy chicken underneath. Yom Yom Yom Yom. My buttermilk biscuit had a nice golden coat with a soft fluffy center. The coleslaw was also delicious. But my mash potatoes with gravy was dry. If we had received our meal 10 mins earlier, it would've been perfect. I suspect that our four top was left under the warming lamp a little too long before it was served. Prices have a wide range from 12 to 42. CD's ability to make a reservation online is a big plus. We were able to make a reservation the day of on a busy holiday weekend. It also happened to be storming during our visit and the lights even flickered for a second resetting their Direct TV and FIFA Soccer feeds, but we were fortunate that the restaurant and kitchen didn't have to close due to a power failure. It can get loud especially if they have live entertainment. The high ceiling helps with the high decibels, but CD may not be your spot for a quiet romantic dinner unless you're in one of their private rooms. Our server Eva was very attentive and never let our drinks get too low. Even the floor manager Taylor stopped by our table to welcome us. CD is a great place for a good time. They host live music, local bands, games, private dining and group celebrations. I look forward to returning and trying the Salmon next time. Welcome to Birmingham, Culinary Dropout!
