This is a very small restaurant that appears to have a healthy take-out business, but they have seating for those who wish to dine in. I ordered the spicy fried rice, which was cooked fresh and was quite good. If you like heat, be sure to get it Thai hot. They had a slow night, so the service was reasonably fast and friendly. Pinto Thai used to be awesome and delicious. I've spent months in Thailand and this was one of the only Thai places around I'd consider frequenting. The service was Thai style (erratic and slow but friendly, lol), but that was part of the charm. Recently it was sold and now it has new owners and it is TERRIBLE. I never minded the prices before because the portions were huge (at least enough for two) and the food was always great. Not anymore! The recipes are all different - for the worse. The portions are less than half of what they used to be. We got two appetizers and two entrees for three people to share (takeout), and unfortunately, no one was full afterwards. It's expensive, barely mediocre, and not enough food. No thanks. We'll never be back. The new owners have destroyed one of Chelsea's few culinary charms. So disappointing. read more

Wow, FANTASTIC food! Super fresh. Veggies aren't soggy but have nice texture. Outstanding flavors. This is a small mom and pop place and one gentleman was running the place himself when I came to pick up my to go order. He was so friendly and rushing to get my order out, I also noticed he had a veteran hat so thank you sir for your service. There's a sign on the front door that they are hiring for pretty much every position so I totally understood that they are doing the best they can with few hands available to help out. It's a small restaurant and very laid back. My friend and I ordered chicken pad Thai, Thai fried rice, the crab stuffed jalapeños and potstickers. Every single bite was fantastic. I have zero notes. I'm picky about quality and a great cook myself so that's very rare for me. I plan to bring my husband back even though we don't live in Chelsea. Portions are also large so it's a great bang for your buck! I hope the community really supports this business because it is truly great Thai food; it's very challenging to keep such a small family owned business running and the community deserves this great food! read more

Never been here before until today. Apparently it's under new ownership and this place is top 5 best Thai joints I've ever ate at. Wow. Couple of photos below. One is of the green curry. The hottest heat on it. Be warned it's extremely spicy. But it's so tasty! The other picture is a half eaten Phad Thai with beef. Food is amazing. Service is great. I will be back weekly for this gem of a hole in the wall. If you like Thai food, give this place a try! The food here is always fresh, delicious, and flavorful. My husband has ordered pad Thai each time we've gone, and loves it, and my daughter is a huge fan of their orange chicken. Their basil chicken is amazing: spicy, complex flavors and loads of protein AND veggies. I forgot to take a photo of our cashew chicken, which wasn't the best I've had but was still tasty. I also forgot to take a photo of the larb we ordered, which was larger than we expected and full of garlicky flavor. Rather than served with lettuce wraps like I've had at other Thai restaurants, this is served over a bed of lettuce like a salad. We took one of our friends here for dinner when he visited, and he had the pad see ew. He didn't mention anything specific about the flavor, but he usually doesn't eat much and he demolished his entire plate (which was NOT small)! The service is pleasant, although a little slow. However, this is a small family restaurant, so I expect it to take a little longer. Don't go here if you're in a rush, but it's definitely a good place to eat if you want to take your time, relax, and enjoy the company of your group. read more

I'm not a thai aficionado and have really only ever had Pad thai so coming here today I wanted to try something different. I saw reviews saying the drunken noodles were good so I went with those (they're named something else on the menu.) This dish was very spicy and I'm not big on spicy foods but the flavor was great so I just had plenty of water handy to combat the spiciness. The dish has so much going on and many different vegetables and they all complement so well together. And the portion is massive so I'll be able to get 2 meals out of this minimum. Inside isn't much but a few tables so Id encourage take out if you're wanting to try it. read more

So... food wise this is top 2 in Birmingham area. Well, technically in Chelsea. Good - authentic family run place. Food is excellent and my 5+ visits, have been consistent. Which I appreciate from a good restaurant. I had an issue beginning when they first opened and the hot food ate through the styrofoam container and they fixed that by putting an aluminum foil underneath (my suggestion) and they continue to do so. Every dish so far have been good. Priced reasonably and portions are great! Now the bad. Wait time and service. Multiple times I placed an ordered to go, I still had to wait 5-15 mins to get my food. Out of past 3 orders, I had to wait twice 5+ mins and once 10+ mins. And I even got there later than the time they gave me during the order. Again, foods good and I've definitely gave 4 stars if the service was better. That's said, the time I'm writing this, I haven't been there in about a month. It might be better now. At least they do correct their mistakes. Food wise, I recommend this place. read more

Let me start by saying that I really enjoyed my experience here and the atmosphere was so cute and cozy and the owner was extremely sweet. So me and my Favorite cousin was out on yet one of our Saturday food adventures and we was in the area and I've been wanting to try this place so what a perfect time. We started with the spring rolls and they were just ok. We prefer our vegetables in the spring rolls to be fresh and kinda crunchy instead of having the vegetables mushy. We also had the coconut soup and it was heavenly and it also had plenty of mushrooms and green onion and the tofu inside the soup was so flavorful and tender. For our other appetizer we tried the bang bang chicken and it was pretty good. For my entree I tried this catfish dish and I'm sorry I can't think of the name but I've eaten this dish at several different places and this was the best by far. The batter on the fish was thin and crispy and the sauce was pure perfection. My cousin had the Pad thai and we didn't care for it. It had a red sauce and neither one of us like the one made with this particular sauce and we was informed the the other ones weren't authentic so I guess I don't like authentic Pad thai but the owner resolved the issue and all is well. I can't wait to try some of the other dishes and I really think it's worth giving it a try. read more

Small quaint restaurant.. maybe 10 2tops and 5-6chaits at bar. I did takeout. We got the orange chicken, drunken beef noodles and tuk tuk roll. Saw the health rating was 96, which is awesome. Got home the portions were huge!! The drunken beef noodles were spicy and delicious by far our favorite! The sushi roll was huge! But so good too. The orange chicken wasn't our jam, it was more like orange honey chicken very sweet for our likings, but was still good, lightly fried.. maybe if there was less sauce in the bottom of the togo box it would of been better but it was drowning in it and over whelming, but I know some ppl love that so I'm not taking any stars off bc all in all it was decently priced, and delicious read more

Update: this restaurant is now under new management and has unfortunately gone downhill. I've been there three times and each time the food was worse. They have changed recipes so some of my favorite items do not taste the same. My husband's food has been raw the last two times. Also, expect to wait forever. I had some curry chicken dish and coconut soup. It was excellent.

Stopped in today with a friend. Atmosphere is nice seems to be a mom and pop type place with high school age girls working as waitresses. Took about 15 minutes to get our appetizers which were fresh and cooked to order for sure. We both had pad Thai which i had never had before, it was delicious. I will be back for sure. The only complaint i have is with younger people working the front, I'm sure these are the owners family members, it was slightly less professional of a front staff than i would have hoped for at the price point, with tip we paid $25 a person. read more

It's great to have Thai food in Chelsea. Sushi too! I tried both. Sushi is fine, and they offer items with various mayonnaise-based sauces which some people like. Tried the Pad Thai, Green Curry, Fried rolls (by mistake, since I wanted the Spring roll), and California Roll for the kid. The Pad Thai, the standard by which Thai restaurants are often judged, was just fair. Nothing to go back for, but not necessarily worth avoiding either. Green Curry was tasty, slightly spicy. Fried roll was nothing more than an eggroll, but I think they may make it in house rather than pull it out of bag like many Chinese places. California Roll was fine and the serving size was good. I'll likely go back, but only if I'm really jonesing for some Thai and want to avoid 280. Surin 280 is better. A-OK, which is 3-star rating. read more
