Staff very nice and available to help if needed. It was my first time, but the pace was not too intense, I played on Sunday 1pm session.

Upside love playing paper only bingo from time to time. No machines are played during the day…read moresessions. I hear they use machines at night. Downside: smoking in the building is horrible. It so strong it will knock you off your feet when you walk in. Also everything is sold in the smoking area so no way to get away from it. They have a non smoking area that has no doors on it with about 10 tables I. It. Smoking area is extremely large. You can see just how thick the residue is on the ceiling tiles. I would recommend cleaning carpets, replacing the old stain ceiling tiles and washing the walls to help improve the smell. Be prepared to leave smelling like you were locked in a room with a smoker for 24 hours. Your clothes and hair well smell bad. Also depending on who is working the counter the customer service is lacking. Based on what I can see they have been working there a long time and maybe dealing with some not so nice customers has taken its toll on their ability to smile. They sell pull tabs which is about 12-15 per session and you have to run to two different lines at least 4 times if you want to get some. Oh but wait must do this plus buy your paper dab your coveralls and open all tabs with in 10 min or you will be lost! No time given, they start promptly. I personally didn't think the service was bad this time traveling out here like it was in early February. Customers are hit and miss. Some very rude and others pleasant to new people who havnt played before.

After leaving we had to immediately remove our clothes and put them in a plastic bag because we WREAKED of smoke. The smoke from the non stop chain smoking can literally be seen as a gray cloud over the entire main hall. On a positive note, the people were friendly and the employees were patient and answered our first-timer questions. The games do move quickly so you have to pay close attention.

There are a few things that are stereotypical American: NASCAR, anti-gay/pro-life rallies, gun…read moreshows, obesity, stupidity, diesel trucks and Friday night bingo. At any of the previously mentioned events, I wouldn't be surprised to see Ali G/Borat/Bruno walk in and every participant not know who they were because they don't have or watch BBC-America because they don't watch "that sissy crap." That being said, last night we went to our first Bingo experience ever. We have a friend that handles the accounting/book keeping for a series of bingo halls and she said she'd get us all set up. We grabbed the wifey's grand mother and off to bingo we headed. When we got there 1984 smacked us across the face with a smokey hand and a raspy , smoker's lung "welcome to Bingo!" I guess Watauga Road Bingo is good... I have nothing to compare it to. It is cheap, new, easy to find and there are some nice folks working there. But the game of Bingo itself ain't what you played as a kid with M&Ms and a single sheet. But, all in all, we had a good old time. (Note: Bingo is HARD.) It's a business. They are going to make money. And as a half-way intelligent college educated dude, I saw right through that. The speaker system is quiet, the announcer calls out the numbers late, there are guys walking around slinging side sale cards right behind you distracting you, and it is all very, very fast, a whirlwind of crazy-town. And to boot, every patron is smoking Marlboro Reds right in your face blurring your vision and giving you a devil of all headaches. Would I go again? Maybe. It was a bit stressful but they sling out some money there. I am sure I can win something some time. Is it the best way to experience "America" (or would it be 'Murica'?) in all its glory? Pretty darn close.
