I've gone here since Pioneer Nail Bar opened with my wife. The owner and his wife are extremely accommodating and helpful. They hold a high standard for customer service and make you feel welcome and I rarely see them turn away walk ins and they do great work with diligent customer care. This is the best nail bar around! The chairs are great and the interiors clean and the staff does amazing work. The owner of his expert staff will offer you a wine, a beer, a soda, or snacks and they do a super kid friendly nail Experience. I have been going here since it opened. A Senior discount for Pedicure is great at $30.00. But the last year their services has gotten worse. They leave the nails too long. Don't clean around the nail properly. But now they don't even file after trimming, or buff before finishing up. No hot towel, or dry your feet a bit before slamming your shoes on...And they were not even busy that day.. .I can't trim my own toe nails due to crippled hands. Last trip in was the day before my sister in law's wedding. Pedicures were fine but my gel nails were lumpy. And the bride's nails were horrific. The nail tech refused to do the shape we wanted (super simple shape) because the bride's nails were "too wide" for that shape. She made my sister cry when the set was done and when we talked to the owner the nail tech told the owner it was my sister's fault for being difficult. They redid them and they were fine but the owner told us if she had known it was for a bride she would have had a better nail tech do them! So hopefully if you go in you get lucky and get a good nail tech! They offered to redo mine but not at first. At first they told me my natural nails might essentially be lumpy and that's why the gel was lumpy lol. I declined the offer to redo because we had been there for too long. Asked for a refund and was refused. About a week later and I have some weird peeling and white stuff on all my finger tips that I can't get rid of. Looks like a fungal infection. read more

This place is a SCAM!! They told me I could come in before 6pm, which is when they close and gave me a 10 minute "pedicure" for $65. I told the guy that checked me out I will not be paying $65 because I did not get the stone massage either. He said oh well it's down. I said that stinks but it doesn't mean I'll pay for it. It's a nice nail salon, pretty busy on a weekend. The owner is pretty hands on and tried to manage everything efficiently. I got my old set removed and got a regular gel manicure which cost nearly $60 with tips but it already started to chip away a bit by evening and I didn't even do much with my hands right after. I had by far the worst experience I have ever had yesterday. We called at 5:30 to see if they had time for two pedicures and let them know we were 10 minutes away, they told us yes. We arrived and reminded them of the call, we stood in the lobby for 10 minutes before being sat in a pedicure chair where we waited another 10 minutes before someone came to ask which pedicure we wanted. She goes and grabs the supplies she needed and returned just to sit and talk to her coworker for 5 minutes before realizing she doesn't have her glasses. I look over and see that a lady who had come in after us without an appointment was already getting her service done. When the nail techs returns she notices a towel fell behind her and goes to lean back to grab it, the chair falls from beneath her and she falls back and hits her head pretty bad. We tell the manager and other employees not to lift her because it is obvious she is very hurt. Against several patrons advice they lift her off the ground and take her to a back room. The manager came over and asked us what happened and we told her she hit her head hard and should not be allowed to drive herself home as we watched the whole thing unfold. We are more than understanding that freak accidents happen but now it's been 35 + minutes and neither of our pedicures are started we decide it is time to go. The manager comes over and says that someone will be right over, we had already taken a mental note of where the other nail techs are in services and not a single person looks almost done. We come religiously every two to three weeks to get our toes done and often tip well over 30% and recommend this salon to everyone we know in the area but after sitting in lukewarm water for 30 minutes we will not be returning or recommending to anyone. read more

Came here for pedicures today and we were able to make appointments at lunch for 3 today which was great. The ladies were friendly and did a nice job, Nice that you get a little lotion gift to take home with your treatment. They do prefer you to pay with cash vs credit and tip is cash only and the price was a bit high for the treatment. Overall, we would visit here again in the future. read more

The two stars is for the salon itself being very nice looking, with good music and mostly nice staff. I wanted to try a different salon for my birthday refill so I called and was told I could come in after 20 mins. I went in and waited for just a few mins and was sat down quickly. I could see the steady flow of women coming in, and I could hear the technicians nervously giggle at this because there were more of us than there were of them. In fact, some girls would be sat down, worked on for a few and the left for a while, halfway done. My first technician was an older lady. She is the one that filed away my old polish. She fucked me up good! Just filing away nail polish she nicked me several times. Then she left for a while. Eventually another technician came in named Vee, and she gave me a very small sample of OPI colors available. I saw more samples floating around so I didn't want to be forced to choose something I didn't want (funny, this didn't work out for me...keep reading). Vee came back and I asked her for more colors, which she provided. She was very nice and sweet throughout. I asked her if she could do some designs. She didn't say no, she just didn't speak English (I think she spoke to the other technician next to us). I showed her what I would like (a half moon and some stars). She nervously laughed and said something I didn't quite catch. Masks make understanding super hard! I chose my colors, she started filing and my nails began really hurting. This is somewhat normal for me as I have sensitive nail beds (why I only get my nails done 2x a year)...after she nicked me a few more times, she applied the primer and my pinkies were inflamed with pain. Never have I ever. I wanted to cry. I asked her if it was normal and she explained sometimes it was. She kept being gentle while working on my nails, but damn, hours later they still hurt. I chose a very pretty glitter color for my accent nails and she moved me to her station. After applying it, she kept saying, no design right?? Um no? I did come in for that but whatever, so she said, I will paint them first. Cool. After, she kept repeating, no design right? And laughing. I showed her what I wanted. She said no. I modified it to a very simple design...she said no. She kept grabbing my hand in a tender way, but kept saying no and laughing. I just gave up. She finished, praised me a lot, thanked me a lot, told me to come back a different day for her "friend" who does designs and gave me my receipt. I understand some people just aren't comfortable with complicated designs but I just wanted a simple half moon, and a few stars. Not only that, my nails are sharp, jagged, unfinished and I've had to order nail design stickers to finish my birthday nails because she wouldn't ask anyone else to do a quick design. Meanwhile the gal next to me got glitter and rhinestones. My mistake for trying a new place, I will stick with Tulip in Sumner. Also, they're in Puyallup, not Edgewood. read more

The owner was always very kind, going above and beyond to make sure I was happy with the results. I've been here about three times for my nails. Each time they were nice and promptly got me in even though I wasn't previously scheduled. My acrylic nails lasted and stayed on strong. I've worked with the nail tech I think his name was Don the first time and he did amazing. Second time was with VEE & recently with Maya & Jimmy. Jimmy is very on top of it always offering beverages to me when I come in and asking if I was happy with the nails. The salon itself is newer and big. When I went in recently they had some aromatic candles burning which was nice. While my daughter went somewhere else a few times for her acrylics, she started seeing hers pop off which was something I haven't had happen with nails from this salon. I can in later in the evening 6:30 for an appointment and the whole service feet and nails were rushed ! I wasn't even in the salon for an hour and they were done. I understand I came in late but if they were going to rush I NEVER ours have came. And not only that they skipped parts of my pedicure so I didn't even get a full pedicure. And don't get me started on my nails the guy that did them did it horrible. Put my hands in water and cut my nails and filed them and then put the gel builder on them. When the guy was done I noticed before walking out ALL of my nails looked chipped because he didn't do the polish right. Also he put oil on my nails to make it look like he didn't a full manicure. I told the manager and he literally just had someone put another layer of gel on my nails. I have FIVE LAYERS of gel on my nails and it looks absolutely ridiculous!! I was excited to go here with my sister to get our nails done since it was close to home. We were extremely disappointed with our service. Our nails turned out horrible! Shorter than I requested, lopsided, uneven and was definitely not worth the price we paid for. I got wine and my sister got a Mimosa and a fruit fly was in her wine glass. I've come here numerous times, usually only for a Gel Mani but I was wanting to switch it up and get a full set/almond shape for a vacation coming up. I was nervous because sometimes this can be a complete toss up on if you're going to get what you actually want not only shape/length wise but also design. I showed up with no appt (which usually isn't a problem here) & showed them a picture of what I was looking for and was set up with My. Not only did she hit it out of the park with the shape but she did a beautiful job with the design. I have been getting pedicures at Pioneer Nail Bar since it first opened and have generally had really positive experiences; however, yesterday I went and got an Essence Pedicure which, mind you, is $55 and had a really nice foot/leg massage but everything else was pretty disappointing. They didn't screw my feet up or do anything disgusting, but I felt like the whole experience was rushed and each component of the pedicure was given very little attention. I received an absolutely terrible paint job which I didn't notice until I got home. Today, I called and spoke with the owner/manager who typically keeps the place and the staff in tip-top shape and let him know that my polish was applied super sloppily and asked if it'd be okay for me to come back and have it fixed-- he was super accommodating and fit me in when it worked for my schedule. He told me they'd remove all my polish and reapply all of it with the same or different color. When I got there, the gal who helped me at the desk and the one who painted my toes both made me feel like I was super high maintenance and tried to convince me that I only needed one big toe repaired when there were at least four that were sloppy. I told them that no, I wanted them all repainted -- the "repair" was equally as disappointing where the color was applied well but the top coat was sloppy and thick, which is what you see in the attached photos. I will probably be on my way to find a new nail salon after this experience, the polish should be the simplest part of the job and its a shame that there's clearly little pride being taken in what the staff does on the daily. read more

I wanted to like this place so much that I gave it at least 4 chances despite bad experiences. The last trip there broke the camels back. I showed the nail tech Jenny the color I wanted on my phone and she said to pick the color myself. Then when I picked the color she starts working on my pedicure and after 10 minutes she looks up and says "if you want a nude color it's an extra $15 ok". I questioned that and asked her what a nude vs regular color was and she said any of the colors can be nude. I told her never mind I want a regular color then and when the final product came out, , it was the exact color I was looking for which was a nude. She was trying to pocket an extra $15 for nothing just being sneaky and scammy! I have been getting my nails done since I was 15 and this is the worst set I've ever had. I asked for coffin shape and all my nails are either super far right or super far left. I got gel and they are so uneven, not smooth and he left air bubbles in them. One of my nails grows funny and I asked him if he could fix it because it was so cricked (I have had other places make them look normal) I showed him what I wanted to do and he told me NO and that the color would cover it up. I've given this business several tries and they just don't produce a quality service and the environment has greatly diminished since opening. My nail technician acted like she couldn't care less to be there let alone help me. She was irritated with a request not to cut certain toenails, asked for her manager to come over when I asked for a third coat of a very sheer pink polish (he told her to do it and said he agreed it needed a third), wouldn't give me my top coat for 10 minutes and then wouldn't let me get up and leave until she decided it was set - I'm an adult and can leave when I'm ready. Finally, she painted my cuticles on my fingers. There was no quality to the manicure - no pushing back or removing of cuticles (despite my asking for it) and they use kitchen cheese graters on your feet to remove callouses. A couple friends and I made appointments. 3 pedicures and fills. We walked in and weren't greeted for a couple minutes until someone noticed we were standing there. They started on our nails and then moved us to get our pedicures WITHOUT finishing our nails. Not a big deal, but after finishing our pedicures we sat there for at least a half hour waiting for our nails to be finished. Multiple people called and would make appointments and they would NOT write it down. The lady then started to paint my nails and the design that i had asked for. This is what i got, not impressed especially after it took so long for her to do them. She even noticed they didn't look so good and said "your nails aren't long enough for this". I wanted to like this place. I gave it so many tries came here with family members my daughter etc. and it literally got worse each time. The final straw was when I came in to get a dip manicure ( $45) they did my nails in a huge hurry and when they were done moved me over to get a pedicure and a different chair. And I was finally by a window with enough light to see. Realized my nails still had poor cuticles, a little bit of dirt that they just painted over ect. I asked the lady Who was doing my toes if they could be fixed and then she sent someone over and she asked "so you want to do some thing else with your nails?" to which I replied no I would just like them to be clean please. when the lady moved me back over to fix my nails I asked her so when you do a dip manicure you do not do cuticles, massage or lotion or even soak your nails? Apparently not. She said when you do a dip manicure ( again $45!!) they do not do anything else besides just quickly file them down and paint them. She told me I could add on the other services to clean up my cuticles etc. i said no thank you I just won't ever be doing this again. When I got my feet then I thought I would do the extra Package that came with a 15 minute massage callus remover paraffin wax, sea salt scrub etc. Again a huge waste of money considering my lady sent her a timer for 15 minutes before she had even gone to get the wax. So my timer is ticking away and she walks over to get two bags of wax comes back and spends about five minutes putting them on. Then takes my drink cup and put it in the sink and then finally begins my 15 minute, now 10 minute massage.. when the timer went off she showed me the timer and said "15 minutes" at this point I've been there about an hour and a half and I am so done. I drove by this place a couple months ago and had a manicure. They did pretty good. But didn't return because I had my nail guy that I been going to since 2012 but he recently decided to follow a different career path. So today I decided to try them out again. I was hoping to get the same girl or the guy that I saw when I first came in. The girl wasn't there, but I was happy I got to meet Don, the guy I was hoping for. Now, just by looking at my nails you can see how amazing he did. So I don't really need to talk much about how awesome he was. Just showed/told him what I wanted and he made the magic happen! But I wanted to talk about the owner(s), it was the first time I came into contact with the married couple. The wife, shes quiet and keeps an eye on the place but the husband, wow! He makes sure you are taken care of, he communicates with the staff and the clients so well. He makes sure everyone has everything they need. He even passes out complimentary drinks to make your experience even better! I would recommend this place if this is how this place is ran everyday. After 3 years in Washington, I finally found my go-to nail salon! Well, to be honest, I don't get my nails done very often. Maybe once or twice a year, but only because I haven't found that nail salon that I want to keep going back to. But now the search is over! Located in the Pioneer Crossing shopping center, this place is fairly new and has plenty of parking. Which means their facility is new with nicely decorated furniture, massage chairs and decor. Staff is very friendly, especially the owner. I did not get his name, but during my stay he was always checking up on his customers and employees to see if they were doing okay and if they needed anything. Whats a plus about this place is that they give you a drink! I came in around 10 so I opted for a mimosa. But they also have wine, soda and water. They even have snacks for the little ones if you bring them along. My nail tech was Ryan and he was the sweetest and so polite. He had such good manners and was so friendly. I definitely found my go-to place. I recommend calling to make an appointment because I can imagine this place getting busy. Jimmy and Demi are the best! This place is beautiful and has a very well thought out design of their space. All of the chairs are brand new and have beautiful bowls and awesome back massagers. Tons of options for colors including dip, regular, and vegan. Our appointment was on time and lasted an hour. Definitely make an appointment though because these guys are going to be busy! Absolutely disappointed! Will not go back or recommend. I have gone twice with an appointment for a pedicure and both times I have to wait and then it's rushed! Both times there were no jets used -I don't think it's even an option. The 8 minute massage that they set a timer for starts about a minute in and ends early! I thought I would give them another chance (2nd time) and took my two daughters and her 10 month old after a nice brunch at Farm 12. We asked if they would paint the babies toes too while she was asleep to match her moms. It took 15 mins waiting, charged $5 and for my daughter to realize after we left that they didn't even paint 3 of her toes. Additionally, the sign at front says "cash tips only".
