Pioneer Pizza!! Under new ownership and They are back! And dare I say it..... better than ever? This place is nostalgic for me. Im an old and we used to go here when it was a sit down restaurant in the trinity barn in the way back time. Those of you that know, know that they have a little something different- the crust has a n almost floury yeasty crackle but the inside is so soft and sweet. Its still there that signature crust. Toppings were super generous and higher quality - BUT OHMYGOSH THE BREADSTICKS! they have changed and they are FAR FAR better than the OLD breadsticks. So fluffy and garlicky and buttery and cheezy and they gave me so much SAUCE. I would always have to jealously hoard the sauce in the old days. Also the service. These poor guys were having their buttcheeks handed to them. Tickets streaming out of the online ordering system reminiscent of that scene in "the bear" when everything is going wrong. Except these guys were excited and as calm as you can be in that situation and they were making it happen. The poor old dad on the new system I just warnted to give him a beer and a recliner great food. Great service and people are noticing and they are so busy so tip them good! It was ok. I believe it's only a take out pizza place. My husband went to pick it up so I'm not sure if it has any tables on the patio.

Very tasty and piping hot french onion soup. Beautiful salad bar, the first one I've seen since 2020. Icy cold tap beer. Nice server.

Used to be the best pizza in Alaska. People from Anchorage would make a once a week exodus to eat the great pizza. No more, since the business was sold several years ago, the quality of the pizza's has diminished drastically! What used to be a great experience has diminished to a place we no longer utilize. Pioneer Sticks - These were really awesome, blasting with flavor; so much so I almost didn't eat the pizza. They were so good. The dipping sauce was an excellent sidekick. I don't normally use side sauces but this was different, so I had to try it, and I didn't stop. My only complaint would be constantly trying to keep the pepper topping on the bread. I hope next time the peppers stay on the bread better. I had the Stop Light Pizza with thin crust. Well made and good flavor transitions. Neither of these choices are for the bland tongue preference or mild salsa connoisseur. Customer pick up so there were no delivery issues. I was told 45 minutes from the time I ordered and the food was ready when I got there accordingly. Will definitely try again. read more

Admitting, Pioneer has acceptable (bordering on "hot damn! delicious) pizza. However, I feel obligated to speak out on behalf of all my condiment sisters and brothers of this earthly realm. It is a travesty to sell "buffalo" wings without the option of ever purchasing blue cheese from the same establishment. only ranch is available? Okay, you uncultured swine. Ordered two large pizzas at 6:49 and was quoted 45-60 minutes. They finally showed up at 8:31. Horrible customer service from the stoner on the phone and still paid full price. I wouldn't have minded the wait if I was told about it. But got nothing but a lame apology. read more

They have great crust! They are take out or delivery only. We usually do delivery since we live in Palmer & they are in between Palmer & Trunk Rd. Usually takes about an hour to get the pizza delivered. Never had a problem or had an order done wrong. Definitely try them! read more

We haven't been here in some time for many reasons. The canned and wilted vegetables used on their pizza are gross. Their crust is often tough and rubbery except for the doughy uncooked center. Their delivery is slow, their pick up times are slow. There is one advantage however in that a large pizza comes with soda. So, you can have crappy pizza and soda! There is a plus there I suppose. read more

I hear from a lot of people in the Valley that this is the best pizza here. I'm sorry to say....I disagree. While the flavor isn't bad, the pizza is sloppy and the toppings always fall off. Not to mention that the food is expensive for what you are getting. If you have kiddos that like pepperoni but don't do a lot of spice then this is not your place. This pizza is very spicy. Service is good, although delivery times can vary. Sometimes they are super fast and other times it's over an hour. So if you're in a hurry this is not your place. read more

Excellent food. Accurate delivery, & always within the time quoted. Lots & lots of REAL cheese on everything! I have ordered from them for a year and a half, from my own home & from a client's home, probably around 20 times...so I feel very comfortable giving a five star review. I'm not an easy customer, I usually add things & ask for extras...and nothing has ever been forgotten! I've ordered & picked up twice, both times the staff was SWAMPED, "working their tails off" :) and, dealing with grace & kindness, some pretty awful customers. At my nieces "dinner & a movie night", at school, I was pleased to see the pizzas were provided by Pioneer. I love that they help support our schools fundraisers! P.S. Pioneer pizza is good, and we always enjoy it. Good crust, good sauce, good toppings. Nothing fantastic, but for the price, they are our go-to. Better by far than Papa Johns (ugh), and very affordable. We always get the unadvertised 2 large single topping pizza special, which is now $23 I think. The pizzas are truly large, bigger than Pizza Hut's so called large. My only complaint is they don't open until 2:00 on Sunday, which isn't a problem any other time of year, but they didn't adjust that for Super Bowl Sunday! A huge mistake, IMO, they missed out on a lot of possible revenue. And we have to order pizza from somewhere else. read more

Pizza arrived ahead of schedule (an hour and 15 mins), but it was one of the worst pizzas I have ever had. Ordered the Buffalo chicken bleu pizza and hot and spicy wings and when it arrived the cheese was coagulated and looked like it was sitting in the box under a heat lamp for an hour. The wings were hot and spicy but tasted like the were frozen and microwaved. I was not impressed. Pizza hut is better. I will not be ordering again. read more

I could provide a lengthy explanation about how this pizza just isn't very good (cardboard crust, too much cheese, etc.), but I offer two anecdotes to illustrate. 1. When we got this pizza I was disappointed that we hadn't gotten the chain-restaurant pizza. 2. We had tons of leftovers when we got some for hungry teenagers. I worked at Pioneer Pizza in Palmer for three days and had to quit because of how the cheese is prepared, not to mention they cut corners on proper day to day sanitation. I just couldn't do it with a good conscience and serve that crap to people anymore. I was horrified. The blocks of cheese are set on top of a garbage can lid that is claimed to be sanitized. The lid was removed from the can (that had garbage in it) held over the shredded cheese container so they could save the cheese that fell on the lid to use for pizza or other stuff on the menu. After that I thought they were going to save the pieces that fell on the floor thank god they didn't I would have vomited on the spot. I have never eaten anything off their menu and wont. That was back in August 2014 around the 3rd or something. I heard they sold to a new owner, but I don't know for sure. read more

Ok....I used to love pioneer pizza when I was a kid....but last night my fam and I thought why not, let's give them a try again. And that is the last time. All I wanted was a good tasting pizza. How do you mess that up? The pizza was super greasy and just did not taste right or satisfying. I bit into a slice of canadien bacon and pineapple....and and found some kind of bone in there! Not in the bacon.....but just laying under the greasy cheese. It was gross. And the kicker is everybodies stomach hurt afterwards...and I won't go into details of our digestive problems today. I call this rental food...cuz it only stays for a little while! If you want good pizza....try pizza Athena in Palmer....or the absolute best is piccolino's in Wasilla. This isn't the first time we've had issues with the quality at pioneer pizza...but I swear it is definately the last. I just wish we could get our money back! read more

If I could give this business less stars, I would. Three orders in a row have been late, and miscommunicated so that the pizza arrived cold and hard. This is on top of an hour and a half to two hour wait time. On the last order (Oct 29 7:00 pm), we asked to cancel after they called back an hour after the initial order to take it again, as it had not been made yet. A female employee called my wife several expletives, and we're unsure if they did charge the card or not after the cancellation. Rude and expensive. If the management reads this, your employee is a liability to your business and I can only assume my money is not the only she has cost you. read more

So far the pizza quality is not great. Delivery is usually on time, sometimes even early. The staff appears to be of high school age. When it gets busy they begin losing the ability to pay attention as you speak. As a result a topping is sometimes missing. The young staff leaves a lot to be desired as far as customer interaction. I expect a business to have a professional face - and that doesn't happen here. My favorites so far: "I don't know what a cedar is! What's a cedar?" And "what do you mean 'charge you the minimum fee'?" read more

Pizza is good and cheese sticks are amazing! Almost always show up early with delivery but order at least an hour in advance because they are usually busy. And if you like your pizza browned you have to ask for well done. Overall, one of my favorite delivery pizza in the area. read more

This is the families favorite pizza place, the kids all like everything we order. The pepperoni pizza, the cheese bread (my personal favorite ) the chicken wings are great as well. They also have great salads and you can have it all delivered. read more

Recently moved to the valley and decided to try this pizza place. I had ordered the meat lovers pizza and it was really good! Prefer their pizza over Locals. I'm glad to find a pizza similar to my previous town. Pizzas are a little pricey. read more

Two stars. Great pizza, but absolutely atrocious service. It took an hour and half to pick up my order after being told thirty minutes. And the one staff member I dealt with was rude. So, if your looking for customer service, or to have your order ready in under a hour or so, this might not be the place for you. But like I said, it is wonderful pizza. read more

If you are going to leave off toppings because they are "too expensive" then change your menu. Or at the very least, tell your customers when they call in to place their order so they can either decide to order a different pizza from you or decide to order a pizza from someplace else. So when you call in to place your order make sure you verify all the toppings are going to be on it or you will be very disappointed when you get it home. Ive had more pizza from different places than most people in their life. My biggest problem is their crust, its THE worst crust you could ask for. It's dry, flavorless making it hard to consume. Also this pizza gets very greasy, sometimes disgustingly. Under the grease they like to let there cheese slide right off the sauce and bread. Most of the reason this happens is because they hide their meat toppings under the cheese. Even the cheese isnt that great, it's a distinctive taste that will leave grease on your face for the rest of the day. And on top of all of these terrible facts, the prices are terrible, I had to pay $18 for a medium pepperoni and jalepeño pizza... $18? C'mon Pioneer, it wasnt even that good, the jalepeños were too spicy to enjoy the pizza itself. The only reason they're popular is because they're in a convient location and deliver to most places in the mat-su. But they're canadien bacon is the only reason it's two stars. read more
