This place has really good poke!! I grew up in Hawaii, so I know it's the real deal. I ordered the "North Shore", which includes sesame soy sauce, garlic, sweet onions, and scallions. You order at the counter and it's ready in just a few minutes. The portion of the tuna was ample. The rice wasn't drenched in soy sauce, which is a good thing. Just the right amount. The sweet onions were flavorful. Could have used a little more in the bowl. I though it was on the pricey side, but it was sushi grade tuna. And it was filling. The restaurant is just one room with a couple of high top tables and bar seating along the walls. Cool atmosphere with a blue tiled wall in the kitchen, a blue floor that reminded me of the ocean, and hanging lanterns. There's also outside dining, but it was too hot for me to sit outside. I preferred the a/c. :) The gal that took my order was very friendly. I'll be back to try a different boke bowl. read more

Came in for lunch and the restaurant felt clean and bright with a ocean vibe. I liked that you had an option to get a poke bowl, burrito or plate. I got the bowl with salmon and the big kahuna style. My friend got the green machine with tuna. We both enjoyed our lunch but wished there was more sauce....and more poke but it was a decent portion. The rice could have used more sauce when I mixed it all together but the poke was really tasty. We also tried the spam musubi which was interesting and fun to try. They also had a lot of merchandise for sale. The staff were polite and refilled the water immediately after we finished it. We sat outside so the cold water was great. read more

Context for a poke bowl review: I live in Seattle. The bowl was decent as far as taste. I didn't like any one of their options so I mixed a few bowls together. Ultimately I had Salmon, Tuna and crab. The Salmon and crab were good, however I didn't think the tuna was that fresh. There was quite a bit of protein, however, the bowl was rather small for the price. I pay less than that at any spot in Seattle for a lot more food. I did like that most of the packaging was compostable vs. Plastic. Drink options were also pretty limited (non-alcoholic). I don't think there are many poke options in the area, but if there were other options I wouldn't go back for the price of their bowls. read more

In summary, disappointing and expensive. My wife and I were in the mood for something fresh and light for lunch, and while poke is always expensive, when it's good it's worth it. This didn't fill the bill. I ordered tuna with a few add-ins and rice wrapped in nori - a pretty down-the-middle selection, I thought. But the star, raw tuna, was tasteless. It hadn't gone bad or anything like that, it just had no flavor. I gave a piece to my wife and asked her what she tasted, to which she answered "nothing." The rice was not sushi rice, and it was not clear what it was supposed to be. Neither cohesive nor fluffy, it had clumps and warm and cold bits. The nori tasted like it was not toasted; it was chewy and unpalatable. When I've used nori I bought it already toasted, and it was always fine. My wife made the mistake of ordering the special that day, which was tuna salad on romaine leaves. She thought it was going to be raw tuna, but it was not - it was canned tuna. But we both love canned tuna salad, so it could have worked out. The tuna fish, however, was poor quality, and again tasteless (how do you put tasteless canned tuna on a $14 plate?). The tuna seemed to be diced, and the veggies as well, so everything was between diced and minced. There was some sort of Asian sauce which wasn't bad, but it was too loose and the resulting mixture looked like ... well, never mind that. A rounded tablespoon of this mixture was spread on each of three small lettuce leaves. It couldn't be mounded in an attractive fashion because it was too loose and there wasn't enough of it. If you have to go, I think you're better off with the sashimi over greens. I can't imagine you can consistently get poor sushi tuna. But at over $30 for lunch, we decided we would look elsewhere next time. read more
