Ginger salad
Aimee N.

It has been over 2 years since I had been here but I stopped in and after eating lunch I looked back at my previous review and I agree with what I said before. The lunch sashimi was not good. I ate all of the sashimi but the tuna was so rough and such a big piece that I couldn't cut it. The ginger dressing for the salad was really good though. Ambiance is really nice and server was nice.

Seated immediately and service was fantastic, The food came quickly and tasted amazing. Will be returning.

I had heard mixed reviews about this sushi restaurant but had to find out for myself. The atmosphere was very cozy and gave a traditional feel to the restaurant. The staff were very polite and our waitress came straight to the table to take our order. The miso soup was very standard and not as flavorful as some other restaurants I have tried. The drink was absolutely delicious and had the perfect balance of sweet and alcohol. The sushi rolls were ON POINT. You can immediately tell that all of the ingredients are fresh and put together perfectly. Overall this was a cute little stop for our days adventure.

I met two friends for lunch here and enjoyed the lunch special so much. You get three rolls for $17! The fish is fresh and delicious, our waitress, Madelyn, was super sweet, and the environment was great. There is always a ton of parking since it's by the mall. I had the escolar avocado roll, the salmon maki roll, and the eel avocado cucumber roll. Super tasty!

No complaint They marked all the GF rolls on the menu. Made ordering really easy. We got all the special rolls that were GF. Little fishy but still good.

Salmon avo with scarce salmon
Heather V.

Eh, it was decent but the fish portions are so tiny! My salmon avo roll was 75% avo. See for yourself. And before anyone says "that's how it is everywhere", NO it's not. Genkis quality and portion size is much larger. I also ordered the salmon avo roll & was charged extra for avo....? I don't understand that part.

I had high hopes for this place. It is fairly new and looks stunning inside. The service was fine. The food was okay. That's really all I have to say! Everything was just average. There are several Asian spots around town that I prefer for my hibachi. The sushi looks good and my boyfriend enjoyed his. However, I already have some regular sushi places so I won't add this to the rotation. I had the hibachi shrimp which had a thicker, ginger/teriyaki sauce to it where I prefer my hibachi to be a soy base. Nonetheless, it was good but a bit more than I would have liked (pretty sure it was around $22). It really isn't bad in a pinch, but I probably won't make it a habit.

Sushi, App

Amazing delicious sushi and we had the Sunomono appetizer....conch, octopus, daikon in ponzu!! Such cute place very refreshing and authentic. Prices are very reasonable too. Must try if you love sushi and Japanese how food.

Chicken katsu don. Sorry don't get this it's just kids chicken tenders. Not the usual panko breaded chicken.

Just look at my chicken katsu don picture you will understand why. Definitely don't get this. Other food is ok.

Overhead hanging bamboo

Made a reservation on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. There were still a lot of open tables during that time, but started to fill up quickly. It was very clean inside. I loved the overhead hanging bamboo. This isn't described in the menu that the Masa classic woks and Masa specialty entrees come with a choice of either white or brown rice and a soup or salad. Dishes such as the Masa fried rice and Masa chow fun come with a combination of all the high protein foods. Started off with the vegetable roll, which is vegan and comes with tofu skin and a variety of vegetables. This was good and I would get it again. I tried one of the Masa specialty entrees, Shaking Beef with brown rice and salad with ginger dressing. The shaking beef dish was good, particularly with hot sauce. The beef was tender and the sauce was a thick sweet brown sauce. The sauce is described in the menu as their famous black pepper sauce, which is not spicy at all, to me anyway. The only chili sauce they had was Sriracha. It was nice they gave me extra brown sauce for the dish, even though I didn't ask for it. I liked the abundance and variety of veggies that came with the dish. I wasn't able to finish the whole dish. This house side salad was good overall, just simple chopped lettuce and julienned carrots. The ginger salad dressing wasn't the best ginger dressing I've ever had though. The waiter was very nice and helpful in picking out dishes. This is a good spot to check out if you're looking for a place to eat while shopping at the mall.

I've been wanting to stop here since I saw they recently opened. It's looks like a brand new building and the inside was very cool with a modern look. The place is smaller but the bamboo and tile give it a lot of style and charm. Our waiter was very friendly and patient since I took awhile deciding. He offered suggestions but I went with the teriyaki chicken. The teriyaki was a classic dish and I picked it because it listed a lot of veggies. It was tasty and I'm glad it wasn't too sweet. My friend's dish listed only asparagus but she had a lot more veggies then the menu said. I'll be back to try some of their other dishes and definitely try some sushi rolls sometime.

4.5 stars for this place is a stretch in my opinion. The Health score is 93, the Rolls were flavorful but scrawny, Ashley our server worked very hard to hurry us through the meal, and no one was coming in. She was friendly but just does not know how to control table tempo. All in all the food was decent and the service okay, the 2 stand outs, the drinks and the Edamame. Indochine has better rolls and looking at the table behind us, when they left tons of food on their table, maybe not so good, or full, or just wasteful eaters? Not bad and Not excellent, Right in the Middle of the road. So dont pass them by, just keep your expectations low and enjoy it for what it is, okay.

I stopped in looking for sushi.. I ordered dumplings, lunch combo of 2 rolls and soup. It was a very cute space. Very nice for being as small as it was. It's in shopping center by mall. The miso soup was good, came out hot but the odd thing was no tofu in it at all..the dumplings were ok but tasted very similar to my frozen ones at home. The sushi I got was salmon and avocado the eel cucumber and avocado. Nothing extravagant about it the flavor was good but the eel was almost non existent. One pic shows it was mostly avocado and a sliver of eel.. enough to get flavor but not as much as I hoped there would be. I had wonderful service but in all honestly I would probably not go back here. There's so many sushi places in Wilmington I'm just not sure this one's on my return to list.

Really a nice surprise. Wilmington sushi is so often disappointing -- we stopped in on a whim and really enjoyed the sushi!

First one in and I walked from the hotel Lela only 1/2 mile away. At the recommendation of my super sweet server I tried the fire cracker shrimp which was a regular specialty on he table placard. I also noticed the cod miso which intrigued me so I order it. What brought in though was the Hamichi Kama which I ordered also. On top of this they brought out a black seaweed/gyoza sample. The. On top of that since it is my birthday week they brought me the green tea mocha. Wow to say I am stuff was an understatement. So since this was a progressive ordering situation which I created the food came out sort of mish mash. I started with black seaweed / gyoza sampler. It was awesome. I would have ordered more had I not already ordered . Then I moved on to the bang bang shrimp. 8 breaded shrimp with their version of bang bang sauce. Plump shrimp with a chili sauce. Not bad. The sauce was just a chili style sauce and so left some to be desired. Then the cod miso came out. Wow. Super hot and had actual chunks of cod and veggies in it. Very good. Then the Hamichi Kama which came out. Amazing. I had this before in Japan and in West Virginia. Amazing. Definitely a recommend. Then they brought out the green tea mochi with green tea ice cream. It was the best I have ever had. Amazing meal definitely needed the walk back to try and walk some of it off. The restaurant is small and reservations are highly recommended. Definitely worth the trouble and I plan to return in the future to try some other items.

We were greeted immediately and the servers and chef said welcome in Japanese. We were given warm towels for our hands and it's really a great way to start a meal; it makes you feel revitalized. The inside is nice; they had traditional Japanese music playing in the background so it really set the tone. There are some tables, booths and a counter so you have options on where you can sit. The decor is nice with the lucky cat and other fun decorations. The waitress took our order with a smile on her face and asked us if we wanted recommendations on any of the products or food. She was knowledgeable on the menu and showed real enthusiasm with our questions. I could see the chef preparing the food was clearly skilled and so I did go with what the chef recommended. Before our appetizers, they brought us a complimentary side dish of edamame beans in seaweed salad which was refreshing. Then our appetizers came. We ordered Miso Soup, Garden Salad, California Rolls, Spring Rolls and Pork Gyoza. I had a few of The Pork Gyoza which was cooked perfectly. Crispy at first and then quickly melts in your mouth; was nice and hot too. My family told me the California Rolls and Garden Salad were yummy too. Then the entrees came out and they exceeded our expectations. My family that had the Chicken Fried Rice said it was delicious. One got the Grilled Salmon Dinner and another a Crunchy Roll I believe; they really enjoyed their dishes. My family that ordered the Sushi Platter liked his too (Philadelphia Rolls, Fire Cracker Rolls, Matt's Special and I believe some Salmon Rolls). I had gotten the Chef's recommended, which was two pieces of Yellowtail (Hamachi) and I believe Tuna (Kama-Toro). It was incredibly fresh; among the freshest nigiri I have ever had. I also then ordered their Fire Cracker Roll and that was very good; if you like something with a bit of spice you will love it. We wanted dessert but were too full; just gives us another reason to go back! Genki has something for everyone. Japanese comfort food, Sushi, Sashimi, Nigiri and more. If you haven't already gone, it's time to go; you won't be disappointed! Until next time! じゃあね!

First time we had waited 1 hour for our first tray of sushi to come out and had to ask the bartender to check for our food while the manager was aware and kind of scuffed.second time we went was faster service but still had to wait 40 Minutes for our trays of sushi. Our last time going July 23rd was met by a dirty sticky table then we were asked to move to another and then they sat someone else there without wiping it down. we watched as a table of 9 was able to all be served there 4 course hibachi meal and their server check on them over 5-6 times within the time of us still just having our waters after almost an hour of waiting we did finally get our seaweed salad (cold) no needing to be cooked without silverware or chopsticks to the point where we went to the front and asked why it's taking so long and why we watched a whole table of 9 get finished and almost leaving and also the tables near us that arrived 20 minutes later than us get their sushi trays . They checked to see if it was done we continued to wait another 20 minutes now a total of 1 hour 30 minutes and finally got our first tray of sushi. The night continued to just be an exhausted wait to the point where we just wanted to leave and our appetite just wasn't there anymore . We have only continued going because they are the only ones that do our favorite sushi rolls with such terrible service each time that we know what to expect now and since there's such disregard from management they really don't care . We overheard our waitress saying to the table next to us our sushi is backed up (you guys know the drill here ) right after we had complained to the front desk about such a long wait and drive in total it's just not worth it . If you do choose to go here , expect a 30 min -1 hour wait to be seated , then once you're seated expect another 45-1 hour of wait on food and hoping you still Have an appetite after waiting so long .

I have only two experiences in sushi restaurants in Wilmington. Both were excellent experiences. We were immediately served at the bar and well taken care of by Savannah while waiting for our party. My husband ordered a vodka soda with lime - perfection ...tasted like a sprite. I had a sweet unfiltered cold sake- love how it was displayed on a bucket of ice. Our party of 7 were placed in the back and most of them were already familiar with the restaurant. Some of them had vegan entrees and the tofu, rice, & vegetable entrees they ordered looked plentiful and delicious. Some ordered sesame chicken or seafood. They all looked colorful and delicious. My husband ordered a bang bang spicy shrimp appetizer. Very well cooked and filling. I had escolar sashimi - tasted like melt in your mouth fatty tuna with a buttery texture. I ordered the Super Toro Roll: Spicy tuna, avocado, tempura flake top with blue fin toro, jalapeno sauce, chili oil, fish roe and scallions . It was a scrumptious & large specialty roll. It was more than I expected - high in taste, quality, and quantity. Our server was very pleasant and efficient. She refilled our drinks & expedited our meals in a swift manner. I was told there were two Nori restaurants were in Wilmington, yet this was the better of both restaurants. We enjoyed our time here and plan to visit Nori at this location again.

I don't usually write reviews but this has happened too many times and the "we're sorry" or "we'll give you a $10 coupon" isn't enough. The past 4 orders have constantly missed something we've both paid for and requested verbally whether we picked up the to go order or go through Uber Eats. This time it was the fried rice, last time the Yum Yum sauce, before that the sushi roll, etc. I called and asked for the manager, Jackson. He apologized like they've done everytime and then offered a $10 coupon for next time. Sorry I want my fried rice. I've ordered from Lucky Star for 15 years and they've never forgot rice or sauce or anything. I then asked for the owner just to let everyone aware before leaving a bad review. Jackson immediately replied that "you're not going to like my answer she's out of the country for the next few months"....he was right that's not the answer I wanted...I wanted my rice! Just another example how bad management & leadership will lead to bad service. It's a shame cause the food (when you get what you ordered) is good. I would highly recommend against ordering online unless you're ok getting a "we're sorry excuse" when your food that you paid for doesn't show up.
