What a hidden gem! If you like the Friendly Market in Morehead, you'll love this place. They have tons of take and bake dinners (casseroles, pasta, etc.), dips, pimiento cheese, chicken salad, goodies like Mamasitas chips, homemade pickles, sweets and pies, and a really nice selection of wine. They also have hot food to go.. we got a barbecue sandwich and it was one of the best I've ever had. Really can't believe it took us two years to come here. The owners and staff are super nice. I am so grateful to have used this place for our Christmas dinner. I stopped in after calling and asking a few questions. Everyone that worked there was SO nice! I picked up our whole Christmas dinner and we loved it. They had a 30% off freezer section and I got a large chicken tetrazzini, medium hash brown casserole, and an appetizer of shrimp scampi. All were delicious but the shrimp scampi dip was off the chain. I also got a medium red velvet rum cake that was a HUGE hit! Came in with my wife based on the reviews and it turned out to be a total disappointment. First off, we ordered salad with a side of protein and didn't realize until we got home that the protein was missing. For as long it took to put together the order, this was frustrating. We also ordered a bacon burger, which, in short, was disgusting. It tasted bland and had no flavor. Truly one of the worst burgers I've had. The kicker was the two sides of fruit that were clearly old and not fresh. Unacceptable for a restaurant to serve fruit in that condition. Wish I could say this place was mediocre, but that would be too generous. Will easily and happily avoid visiting in the future. read more

NOMA fed my family of 30. Everyone loved the food. The pulled pork was delicious. The slaw, Cesar salad and macaroni and cheese disappeared before lunch the next day. The breakfast casserole and veggie quiche were absolutely amazing! We ordered the cookie tray, which was devoured quickly. We were in love with the pecan date biscuits. Wow!! This is a really good restaurant. The atmosphere isn't my favorite but it isnt a bad atmosphere. They have a cool beer and wine selection. And a unique menu with things that just taste damn good!! I dont give a ton of 5 stars, but I will say I have no complaints about this spot. The staff was friendly and courteous. Fantastic establishment! They have quickly become a favorite in Porters Neck when in town. Great selection of soups and salads and the sandwiches are outstanding. Such unique flavor still with a traditional southern taste. They offer take out and a nice selection of desserts and wines. read more

12/28/23 4 Days before New Years WHATS WRONG WITH WALMART! I've been completely insulted. I called the take out only restaurant to see if they had any specials for New Years. I was told they have collards and black eyed peas. Perfect, I tell the inexperienced staff worker, who put me on hold twice to speak with the owners. I would like to purchase both. She told me that they are first come first serve so I said ok I'll pay for two orders then come pick them up. Again, no. so I was told the peas won't be ready until 1pm but the collards are ready now..... So 2 trips if I want to insure they have both. They don't let you pay over the phone. Then I was told Quote.... this is not Walmart. I don't shop at Walmart because I live with 2 people in their 90's of course I avoid crowds and still mask! But what if I did. I'm all for non franchise Restaurants but, I wish staff was trained if they are going to speak with the costumers. I give respect and expect it in return, they have a huge problem. Just ok. Ordered a salad and it really was just lettuce with canned mandarin oranges and a few finely chopped pecans. For the price I could have had a much better salad from Panera. I'll try again with another menu item. read more

I was able to get baby back ribs and Cole slaw and it was delicious! The ribs were very tender and moist!

We(5 of us) traveled down to NC to help with the cleanup of hurricane Florence. We heard about this place from other volunteers and decided to try it. We called ahead for reservations and were greeted by the owner when we arrived. We started with the pimento cheese and crostini. I had the red drum with asparagus and couscous. Excellent. Others in our group had the veal meatballs and pasta, the burger special and the crab cake. All were excellent. Dessert was great also. I had the caramel chocolate pecan cake and I sampled my neighbors salted caramel Creme Brûlée. Both were excellent. Good reviews on the Key lime pie also. We liked our dinners so much, we went back 2 days later. This time I had the rib-eye special with asparagus and cheddar mashed potatoes. The ravioli was great and my friend raves about the shepherds pie. Dessert was pear bread pudding and was delicious. Everyone in our group had a great meal and the service was attentive. I will definitely go back there again if/when I return to NC. read more

Was wanting to try a new lunch place so I went here on a Saturday. I got a southwestern shrimp salad and the boyfriend got a cajun club sandwich with fiesta chicken soup. My salad had really good flavor. The shrimp was perfectly spiced. It had a lot of flavor without being spicy. The dressing (creamy cilantro) was really delicious. It is hard to make a salad that is not boring and Temptations definitely succeeded! The boyfriend enjoyed his meal as well. There were some cute conversation-starters on the tables that we enjoyed reading to each other. That was a nice touch. Our server was also very nice and attentive. The place is small inside but was pretty crowded when we were there, mostly an older crowd. It was a little pricey for lunch, but everything was really fresh and made with love. Temptations is a restaurant that truly stands out for their food, but is quietly hidden by location. I had one of their Swordfish salads that was on special and it was amazing. The swordfish was tastefully seasoned and very juicy. And the salad itself was extremely fresh, the only reason why I give it 4 stars instead of 5, is because of the prices. I don't know why my review keeps getting taken off by Yelp. I'm not from Wilmington, but visit often and this is the one place I MUST make a stop at. I have always ALWAYS had a terrific experience with the staff. They are knowledgeable about the menu and wine pairing. I almost wonder if I went to a different place after reading the reviews. However, the members of my lunch party loved the place, too. I ordered the Chinese chicken salad. Some of the lettuce in my salad was brown. At first I thought it was from the salad dressing, but that was not so--a few pieces of lettuce were just past their prime. Also, for a chicken salad, it was difficult to even find much chicken. The noodles were good; the dressing was good, too. I found the salad a bit pricey for what I got. I would have ordered the salad special, Harvest salad; however, our waitress said it was made with kale, which can be a bit bitter. So, I passed on that. Come to find out, after our orders were placed, that the Harvest salad was being made with spinach and arugula. I only found out because one party member had ordered it and was told of the change. Jeez. Most of their salads are made with romaine lettuce, of which I am not a fan. I also have celiac disease, which limited my menu choices. This place is a hidden gem. It sets in a strip mall and looks very basic inside. Don't be fooled! The food is a-m-a-z-i-n-g!!! We eat here once a week since discovering it is 2 minutes from our house. So far I have had the chicken pot pie and 2 pasta special entrées. Everything is fresh and flavorful, plus portions are large. I've also had the key lime pie which is no joke! Service is always great, waitresses are very friendly and attentive. We take our son who is 14 months old and very vocal and they never seem to mind his noise! Love this little place! read more

I frequent Temptations for their salads and am a huge fan of the Blue Pear! It's not my husband's favorite place because he always leaves hungry. If you're looking for steak and potatoes this won't be your place. It's a nice, quaint spot to eat with a few girl friends if you're in the mood for a soup and salad or club sandwich. I do feel like this place is a bit pricey and they charge for substitutions. I typically stick with take-out to keep my cost at a minimum. read more
