After looking through the menu, it seemed that we would be able to hit it (with maybe an extra dish on top of what we'd order) so we went ahead. The server took his time to explain the menu and gave some recommendations, but we came ready with a list of things we wanted to try. Having never tried Georgian food, I was not sure what to expect. We ordered the Assorted Pkhali (vegetable spreads with walnut sauce inside) and Khachapuri Acharuli (Georgian cheese boat with egg yolk). Right off the bat, the bread that came with the spreads was warm and fresh, with the perfect crust. The spreads were seasoned with garlic, herbs, and each one was so unique and flavourful, not to mention the presentation was beautiful. The cheese boat came with gooey cheese that they mixed with a yolk and square of butter - it tasted like fondue and I am still dreaming of it! Next we had a Georgian meat pie, the kebab platter, Chanakhi (lamb stewed with veggies & spices), and Chakhohbili (stewed duck with tomato-based walnut sauce). Generally with kebabs, they can be a hit or miss because some places tend to dry out the meat, but everything was so juicy and seasoned well. I especially loved the lemony golden potatoes on the side tossed in dill and could not stop eating them! The stews were also great, and the walnut sauce was very unique. As someone who loves soup dumplings, we also couldn't miss out on the Khinkali (Georgian soup dumplings). We got one traditional style and one with lamb. I was not expecting them to be massive when they arrived. The server explained the etiquette for eating them (hold the stem, turn it upside down, drink the soup, then eat the dumpling while leaving the stem). There was a decent amount of soup inside and the meat is very reminiscent of a Chinese dumpling. For drinks, we tried the Kompot which is a drink made from fruits boiled in water and served in a 1L bottle. They recommended the feijoa one which was described as similar to guava but sweeter and we all loved it. At the end of the meal, we tried their Turkish coffee which I had with the whipped cream from our cake. It was fragrant and strong, very tasty. It was quite a busy night with the servers continuously running back and forth. All the while, they were very nice and hospitable the whole time. Definitely deserving of their Bob Gourmand recommendation on the Michelin Guide.

They had Bluejays ALDS championship special which was 50% off wings and $2 off for house lager. Such a good deal. Only thing was the hot sauce we ordered for the wing. You can also try parking for free along Walter Street. - Book a reservation, especially when it's Mother's or Father's Day. I met up with three friends for brunch on Sunday. I've known one since we were in grade 1. I became friends with the other two when we were in grade 7. All four of us were in the Extended French program in grade 7. Three of us dropped out by the time we got into high school together. One friend lives in Hong Kong and was in town for two weeks. She asked me if I was free on Sunday. It was Father's Day, but I had seen my dad already in the morning and was going to return for dinner at night. I said yes. I'm glad that I did. We had a reservation at The Kingston House for noon. It was my first time here. It used to be the Grover Exchange for many years. It was fitting that we came here for bunch. It's a few blocks away from where we all attended high school. I took backroads to get here. There was parking behind the eatery. I backed into a spot at around 11:45 am. Spaces are limited. There were five left. I walked in and saw the Father's Day buffet spread. It looked good. I stood waited to be seated. My friend who lives in Hong Kong was at the back of the restaurant and waved frantically at me. One friend came in ten minutes after I had. She could only stay briefly. I was happy that she came for coffee and a good chat. I hadn't seen her since we graduated from high school. My friend from grade 1 came in last. The TTC was on a Sunday schedule and she was late thanks to a bunch of detours. I hadn't seen her since we were undergraduates. What is special about the Kingston House is that brunch goes until 4 pm. We stayed for almost four hours and staff did not kick us out. We needed four hours to catch up. We picked up from where we all left off. It was nice. The Father's Day buffet was $45 per person. It had pastries, salad, a roast beef carvery, two types of eggs benedict, mussels, french toast with berries, a chocolate fountain with fruit, and a whole lot more. It was impressive. I will admit that I didn't gorge as much as I should have. I felt like my friends and I were in the same boat. Our conversation was so good that we almost had to nudge ourselves to eat! I got a mimosa. It was $8 for the first one. If you wanted more, it was $5 each. Such a steal! I loved mine. It was refreshing, a bit bubbly, and yummy. We got a lot of water refills. Staff were super patient, friendly, and attentive. I loved chatting with our female server, who went to Notre Dame High School down the street and was bummed out that she didn't have woodworking class there. Her brothers did at Neil McNeil. Crazy how you come back to the Beaches, you talk to locals, and you feel like you still live there. My first plate at the buffet consisted of mussels, peameal bacon benedict, bacon, and sausage. Everything was delicious. My second place was full-on carbs. I wanted the french toast with berries, which was fantastic! Next to the french toast were bread pudding and apple crumble, which are two of my favourite desserts. I loved it all. I got a huge scoop of potato salad. It was so good. I am a dill fan and this salad had a ton of dill that made me so happy. I also felt the need to balance everything with a plate of fruit. I had pineapple, cantaloupe, and honeydew melon chunks. They were sweet and so good to finish off my meal. I used the washroom twice, which was downstairs. It's an older building, so it's not great on the accessibility scale. The women's washroom was clean and spacious. Downstairs had live jazz music happening. It was a nice touch. I got to check out two different acts performing while I was briefly down there. There was also a full bar. I saw a pool table, but it was covered. This downstairs area is used for various events. It's cozy and cool. I briefly saw the patio. It was popular with all the dads and their families. We stayed inside, which I liked. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and tipped. All was great. I'd love to return and focus on the food! I felt that my food took a backseat. That's okay. It's not every day that you get to hang out with friends whom you haven't seen in eons in the neighbourhood in which you all grew up. (205)

Wild Oregano serves mainly Greek / Mediterranean dishes (gyros, moussaka, grilled fish and seafood…read moreoptions, Greek salad), with some eclectic dishes including Italian (pastas), Asian / Thai-inspired (fish with Thai sauce and Thai-style stir-fry), British (English-style fish and chips), Chinese-inspired (Shanghai kung pao shrimps & chicken stir-fried with vegetables), Hungarian (goulash), American (burgers), French (French onion soup), Middle Eastern (falafels), and an extensive breakfast / brunch menu that they seem to serve all day (we were offered both the dinner and breakfast menus in late afternoon). Location is quite scenic and conveniently located right across Kew Beach and Public Library, with street parking and Green P parking nearby. It's also steps away from Queen Street streetcar stops. We came without a reservation and were seated right away (the restaurant wasn't very busy on a weekend afternoon that day). Our server was very friendly and on the ball. The chef came out a few times to ask how the food was, made sure everything was ok, and was super nice as well. Food was very delicious - loved everything from the 2 different salmon dishes that we got (Light Choice Roasted Salmon Fillet with lemon garlic sauce, and Cedar Plank Salmon that we got with the pesto and feta cheese on the side). The Grilled Calamari was very flavourful with the marinade, and it was perfectly cooked without being too chewy or rubbery (not overly cooked). All main dishes came with a choice of carbs (rice, French fries, mashed potatoes, or lemon potatoes) and either a House or Greek Salad. We swapped our carbs with Grilled Vegetables as the sides, with House Salads, then added on basmati rice and lemon potatoes as additional sides. Everything was great! They gave complimentary bread slices and mezzes (hummus, eggplant-tomato mixture, and baba ganoush). The baba ganoush especially was really good on the lemon potatoes, grilled vegetables, and mixed in with the rice. Grilled vegetables consisted of green and red bell peppers and zucchini - all nicely grilled, still crisp (not overcooked), and not oily at all. Perfection. It was a very satisfying meal with great service.
