Upon walking in we were greeted enthusiastically and immediately felt welcomed. We had the huevos rancheros and coffee. I joked that I needed a BIG coffee and was rewarded with an extra large cup of coffee. The food was incredible but the highlight was the servers. Food was decent. Basic diner. I ordered the turkey melt. There were definitely balanced portions. Although our waiter was nice I'm disappointed at the service. We came at 1:00pm. There were only two tables occupied and one other occupied with the staffs children. Two of us ordered soda that came flat. Our waiter notified us the carbonation was being fixed and she would bring out different ones. That never happened. We requested mayo 4 times and each time she said okay and left. We never got it. Two of us shared with the other two of our parties drinks. At the end after she took our empty plates she asked if we wanted iced tea to go. Which was nice afterthought but defeated the whole dining experience. We moved to the area and are in search of a go to lunch spot. We will keep trying. This will be a pass for us. read more

I can't say enough about how wonderful our experience was at Pippo's Cafe. The restaurant is located right on Main Street with plenty of parking available on the side street. Employees greeted us upon arrival and were seated immediately. Their menu is full of breakfast and lunch choices that don't disappoint. I ordered the Navaho Taco, which was the best that I ever eaten. I highly recommend stopping and eating here. We will be back. read more

Came here for breakfast and had the meat lovers omelette with some biscuits and gravy. The biscuit was soft which is always a good sign to come. The gravy was solid. The omelette was cooked well. My viewpoint. As long as the place is clean, the food is decent and the servers are polite I'll give it a 4. Pippo's is a small Cafe in what was probably a resident' at one time. Has limited Counter space, several tables inside and has patio seating outside. Frequented by locals. My experience is mostly with breakfast. It is a good decent breakfast. If it's crowded the waiting time expands. They cook the orders as they're put up. Definitely a go. read more

While spending the night in Cortez,, the waitress at Mi Mexico recommended Pippos for breakfast...a few other contenders were closed, but she said this was a safe bet . Seated outside under a comfortable canopy, we ordered a green chili onelette, French toast, huevos ranchos, 2 breakfast sandwiches for our family of 5. Everyone was happy with the food quality- and the green chili omelette was pretty intriguing- but the only complaint, albeit from 3 teenage boys, was that they walked away ready to eat more. But coffee was good,, and service was great.Total $62 for everyone plus tip. I'd agree that Pippos was a good choice, and the fact that it was packed indoors makes me think that denizens of Cortez agree. read more

Corned beef hash browns were cooked to perfection with crispy bits & identifiable shreds of corned beef. Unfortunately they were out of country fried steak, but we'll be back. We were referred by a local I asked on where to eat breakfast other than Denny's which looked crowded on Sunday morning. We were greeted and seated immediately and service could not have been better. Every question I asked was answered positively and substitutions were granted with a smile. Food came quickly and was hot & delicious and exactly as requested. The prices were reasonable and my experience could not have been better. I wish I was a local who could eat here more often. Owner should be proud of the staff and you will not regret eating at this old diner. Outside seating is also available. Don't judge a book by its cover. read more

Stopped here on a Sunday morning on our way back to New Mexico. Definitely a locals place, as another reviewer put it. It has that old diner feel. Your standard greasy spoon diner, perfect for our roadtrip. They have patio seating which is great for the weather right now. We sat down around 845a and were out by 10a - 35 minutes was waiting for the food to come out which is why it gets 4 stars. Breakfast sandwich is what I expected and filling. My husband and I were really impressed by this little café. We stopped in for breakfast and I had The Pippo's omelette and my husband had the veggie lovers omelette. I chose hashbrowns and biscuit and gravy to go with mine and he chose grits and a pancake with blueberries on top for his sides. All of these sides were included with our omelette. We also both ordered coffee, regular for him and decaf for me. We felt that everything was above average and the service was also very good. Got the biscuits and gravy with sausage so did my wife. It was a cold day and by the time the food came to the table it was barely warm. I think the plates were cold to start with. Service was friendly and fast. Food tasted okay just wish it was hot on this cold day. Typical small town diner atmosphere, friendly people with plenty of banter going on. read more
