Best breakfast in town. No masks during Covid. They are efficient, fast and a menu that is filled with traditional American food.

My sister and I were passing through Cortez and wanted to stop somewhere for breakfast. Pippos was one of the few places that looked like they had real breakfast food and it was awesome. I stayed in Cortez two days to do a race in Shiprock; I left town Sunday morning wanting something substantial in the way of breakfast. On a Sunday, Pippo's is easily accessible in the center of town. At around 8:30 there were about 8 people in there. I sat at the counter. I had a breakfast of a couple of pancakes, sausage, orange juice and coffee. The pancakes were great; the sausage ok, the orange juice was not fresh squeezed I don't believe but I wasn't expecting it, and the coffee was fine, and refilled promptly. The service was friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Folks, that's all i'm looking for in an inexpensive small-town breakfast diner. Got out for about $10; met or exceeded my expectations and would return again. read more

Went for a quick breakfast. Food came slowly. My hash browns had lightly touched the grill, but were generally raw and cold and inedible pool. The burrito was mostly tortilla without much filling. The sunny side up eggs were mostly raw, with uncooked egg whites. read more

Very delicious. We were passing through town and saw the cars outside and imagined it must be a good place to stop for breakfast...and it was. We had chicken fried steak, french toast, eggs and all the sides that come with. The servings are ample and we enjoyed everything! The service was wonderful and the diner has an old timer cafe feel.. This place just gives me the creeps thinking about our experience. #1 you have to walk between the cooking part of the kitchen and the dishwashing station to get to the bathroom.... between employees working. #2 The older lady that waited on us was SO UNFRIENDLY. #3 ordered my eggs over easy. The egg whites were so runny there was almost nothing solid about the egg at all. I apologized to the waitress that I had ordered over easy and she loudly and rudely told the cook to get her some over medium eggs. When I got them the yolk was almost completely solid. I'm sorry but making eggs isn't that hard. Grrrrr.... Was excited to try this spot since we drive by it 4 times per year and it always looked busy. I (heart) Pippo's. The best little country style breakfast/lunch in Cortez. Inexpensive, good food, good service as well. This little place hums like a finely tuned machine. Kind of small, but worth the wait if it's busy. Filled with the locals early in the morning, a good sign. Ok, well first indent have any pictures and probably only because the food smelled so amazing I didn't waste time taking any. There servers were all very kind. Hands down though, out of the three breakfasts ordered mine was the tastiest! The corned beef and hash is not whatvpne might expect. The corned beef is so tender and the potatoes were perfectly golden. Got a huge fluffy biscuit and some excellent white gravy to go with it. Everything was served hot and quickly and our coffee never ran out! read more

Great stop in Cortez. Seems like the local breakfast spot. We were passing through and Pippos hit the spot. Breakfasts come with your choice of grits or potatoes AND toast, English muffin, or biscuit and gravy. I of course chose grits and biscuits and gravy with my omelette (yeah I was born in the south). They even brought out Tabasco for my grits. Delicious, tasted homemade. Friendly wait staff, even got me a to go cup for my coffee. The only reason for four stars instead of five, is the omelette could have been better. Looked kinda like a scrambled egg with all the meat and cheese thrown on one corner. Hub and I grabbed a quick bite here on our way out of Cortez en route to Monument Valley. The menu lists very basic diner offerings. Pippo's was clean, and very welcoming--our waitress was super friendly. We ordered off the senior menu -- my first time being legit senior-aged (55+) haha. We each had a burger and a soda. I had my burger sans bun and smothered in caramelized onions with a side of coleslaw and pickle. Everything was tasty! The entire bill came to under $15! read more

Yes this is the original diner and it shows in the warn but clean tables classic decor added to the appeal, and food is just like down home large pancakes as well the sausage patties were very good. Thought the place is fairly small they do very good for tithe clientele I little concerned though should anyone in a wheelchair should come in though. read more

As previous yelpers stated and I should have paid attention, this restaurant is for the older residents of Cortez. There sausage gravy is bland, the vegetables in my omelet were crunchy, the omelet was also a little burnt and they only have canned fruit, no fresh fruit available. This restaurant would fit better in a retirement facility than on the Main Street serving tourist who try to find things to like about Cortez. read more

Biscuits and gravy were delicious- make sure to ask for the sausage gravy and it will come with big chunks of cut up breakfast sausage. Service was friendly and efficient. Had breakfast here last Sunday. The omelets aren't really -- eggs are added to sautéed vegetables, cooked, flipped, cooked. But the flavors are good, home-cooked like, delicious homemade jellies are served with the toast, service is cheerful and efficient, and prices are fine. Good choice for breakfast. read more
