There looks to be some sort of 'ship' for their imagination as well as several slides and merry go rounds and everything to keep the little ones busy. Going around this park, is a walking trail. It's not too long, its not too short. It's just right. You can leisurely stroll around the entire park, taking a break to watch the kiddies or...and this is the best part, watch the pooches. Among it's perfection, this park has three, VERY large dog parks. Two for the biggies (they need the room) and one GINORMOUS park for the Lil Napoleons (ever meet a small dog that didn't have a Napoleon complex?) This dog park is so big that after throwing the ball for 30 minutes, my very energetic poodle came up to me panting heavily & I swear I could hear "Uncle" as he dropped the ball & walked away. The grounds inside the dog parks are kept beautifully. There is a volunteer who faithfully cleans out the water bowls, picks up anything that parents left behind, supplies balls to all of the parks & for a bonus will even snuggle any pet needing a confidence boost. I am very hesitant in writing this review because if word spreads too far & fast, then everyone will want to come here & there will be a line. There are very friendly owners that come to this park, all different breeds. One day it will be all poodles, doodles, chichipoos, doxies...you just never know who you will meet!

We were looking for batting cages to practice for the upcoming Little League season and boy did we hit the motherlode. Not only does this facility have five outside self-pitch batting cages, but it has at least an equal number of impeccable baseball fields with nice scoreboards, dugouts and bleachers. I would say they are at least AA-level, maybe AAA-level sized fields. There is also four fields that look like they are probably used for A ball. In addition, it looked like there were a similar number of soccer fields plus several basketball courts. All of these were incredibly maintained. And this is just the outdoor facilities. Indoor are more soccer and baseball practice facilities, daycare and fitness facilities. We used the outdoor fields for free. Based on the website, there is no initiation fee and monthly dues are $75 for a family of four. A great bargain. We did not use the indoor facilities, but they looked great and were equally well-maintained.

This was focused on water sports, so she spent a lot of time on the James River stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking and swimming (in the pool). They even did archery, campfires, sang songs, learned to make bracelets, play games and much more! My daughter even loved the food. It was great that they even allowed her to bring green juices + probiotics (that needed refrigeration), so she could consume daily! This is part of her daily healthy regimen and I am so glad they were thoughtful enough to allow this. She came home with a lot of stories + journal entries! I was excited to read and listen to all of the camp experiences! Of course she's already excited for the opportunity to attend next year!

I was disappointed in how much prices have gone up and that some bounce space was taken away for all the video games (video game prices were high and it was hard to keep my younger kids away from them). It was something to do on a hot day for the kids though. Be aware that there is little to no structure once you are inside. Keep an eye on your children and moderate their behavior if you need to (there is no staff monitoring the bounce houses or floor)

The facilities are clean and they have many different rental options available. I planned a womens getaway for no reason other than to just get away. No kids. No men. No schedule. It was awesome! Camp Idlewild was the perfect destination. Inexpensive and AWESOME! Laying out in the field to star gaze in the middle of the night is my favorite. You can't get that view in Hampton Roads for sure! I have never seen such a long zip line for kids. They are usually about 10 feet long and pretty lame. This is really long. I wish I could give an accurate measurement but, I had to run to keep up with kids zipping along it. There is a round little seat for them to sit on as they careen down the line. Unless your kid is a tween, you will prob have to pick them up to get them on the seat. It sits a bit high.
