Located very conveniently in the end of a shopping center in the Williamsburg area of York County there is adequate parking and easy access. On entry is some type of eclectic gift shop of a sort, and a table gaming area, arcade, etc. There is comfy seating all around for adults and kids, an art area, an area for the very littles. The gated area has cozy nooks for quiet play, active play for various ages, climbing and sliding. We made our reservation online for a story telling activity with a speech therapist, who very kindly spent just few minutes after with my 4 year old who receives speech services. They also offer a preschool option we are considering. I think this cafe fills a big gap since most playplaces attached to fast food venues closed at Covid and didn't reopen. It's a great place for rainy day activity, but probably gets kind of loud and crazy on weekends especially with onsite birthday parties and such. The price point is average between free and say Busch Gardens. The preschool class once a week from 9 to 12 is $30, so $10 an hour is pretty decent. I was impressed with bathrooms that have wipes, diapers, extra onsies for baby blowouts. They sell grippy socks for kids to wear in the play space and I don't know what all. There are high chairs, lots of shoe cubbies, you name it. I think it is really best for a mobile child at least crawling to about age 5. Beyond age 5 I think many of the active centers are too boring for school age kids. But I haven't brought my 7 year old yet so I can't evaluate. Anyway, 5 stars because what could anyone improve? It's operated by the same company as the Adventure Park, though each requires separate admission tickets. The entrance is about a five-minute walk from the parking lot along a pebbled path. After seeing the tower, it reminded me of the Forest Tower in Denmark and wondered if it served as an inspiration for the design. The Nautilus Tower is 65 feet tall, and you can reach the top via stairs or by a spiral ramp. There are benches along the way for those who need a break. Once at the top, I was greeted with a beautiful view of the surrounding forest and lakes. After enjoying the view, I went down the steel slide, which was a lot of fun! You sit on a mat with handles for the descent, similar to a water slide but without the water. After the steel slide, I explored the Treetop Canopy Walk, accessible from the second level of the tower. The canopy walk was nice but also a little scary, giving me "Final Destination" vibes due to the amount of swinging and swaying on the bridge. I ended my visit at the Children's Treehouse Village, which is a nice play area if you have kids. I would recommend Owl Creek Landing for anyone who loves nature, a great family outing or even a date night. It's a wonderful addition to the Virginia Beach area.

Between the beautiful sunset, kids having a ton of fun, and learning some about the local wildlife (we found a couple pregnant crabs!), it really was a great experience and we'll do it again for sure on our next trip. Fair warning though for my fellow mid-lifers -- if you're not much of a hiker/runner, walking through the sand dunes for a good two hours REALLY left me pretty sore! So plan a dip in the hot tub after if you've got one in the rental. :)

My problem is why are the doors open if you can't service walk in customers and what makes my very upset is that my 4 year old grandson that has been excited to go for a week doesn't understand why he's made to leave. They came back and got the bears they wanted and the price was reasonable but in my opinion that in no way makes up for horrible customer and upsetting children which in my mind is who you would want to make happy. I was excited when I saw a new small business, Kidcreate Art Studio was opening in the spring '21…read morein Newport News. I signed my granddaughter up for every activity in her age group. Each class is very affordable! The studio is in a strip mall on Warwick Blvd near Yates Elementary. It is a bright space with a variety of art supplies available to purchase for children, and a bright, colorful creating space with tables and stools. Some little kids fall off the stools but there are chairs available if desired. Ms Karen is the owner and she is delightful. She is very friendly and accommodating, but not overly so. The studio offers classes for children as young as 18 months, and as there is a wide variety of personalities and abilities, some children take awhile to get comfortable and some take to the structure right away. However there is no judgement or pressure for any child who may be having a melt down, and some do, or children who want to put project elements on upside down, or children who would rather sit on the floor or visit the caged birds that live at the studio. Some projects are very difficult for the younger children, but the age range for the classes my granddaughter attends is 18 months to 6 years, so there is quite a bit of adult involvement with the much younger children. The somewhat older children can attend on their own and parents can come back for them. Most projects have messy elements, and one of their "rules" is to have fun and get messy. Child height hand washing sinks are located close by, thankfully! I found a couple of projects too messy for my liking, but then, I'm about 60 years older than the kids the projects are designed for! As with any new business there are learning curves for the instructors who are likely getting all the elements together for a project they have never taught before. However the instructors generally are very hands off and let the children do what they feel comfortable doing while providing everything for a finished project. I look forward to supporting this business for several years to come, as long as my granddaughter is enjoying it.
