No hesitation to give this a 5 star! We took our 4 year old nephew to play. We were pleasantly surprised to learn those 4 and under play for free. We played the Captain's Course. The layout and decorations on the course are so cool, especially for those young kiddos. There are pirates, waterfalls, and even a pirate ship. Plenty of fun was had by all. We wish there were more interesting holes - perhaps the challenge course would have been better (we did the 'classic' which we were told was more "scenic"). Just for giggles, my husband and I went to play a round. We chose the Captains course. Lady who checked us in was bright and cheerful. A lovely welcoming. The course was cute and had all the fun stuff we expected to find from the pirates cove franchise. We went on a Friday morning about 30 minutes after they opened. A few groups were already playing. We moved a long at a good pace. Be aware that there are steps to climb up and down. I get around by cane and I didn't expect all the climbing. read more

Pirates, Cove, adventure golf, Aaarrrrrrrrggggg !!!! Two different courses, a scenic easier loop versus a harder loop. We played the scenic loop, which was very detailed and fun. We came midday on a week day and it was fairly crowded after a few holes groups spaced out a little bit better. Overall, had a fun time playing the course, most being pars 2 and 3s. Cute and fun course, HOWEVER, not remotely stroller accessible. I played two holes before I had to tell my husband and 5 year old to finish the remaining 16 holes without me. The staff warned that both courses were "tricky" with a stroller, which I'm sure is what they're instructed to do, but it is straight up not possible. Even if my husband and I wanted to carry the stroller up the stairs, many stairways weren't wide enough to fit our UPPAbaby stroller. So check it out, but make sure to leave strollers at home and bring a baby carrier instead! read more

Ahoy, matey! All hands on deck at this excellent mini golf course just 10 minutes away from downtown Bar Harbor. My little family of 2 adults and 2 children (ages 6 and 8) were greeted right away on a weekday afternoon. We chose a 36-hole challenge which included their original course and "Blackbeard's Challenge" which had slightly more slopes. Both courses were really fun and every hole was exciting and different! ;) In fact, expect your ball to get wet. To complete both courses, we spent a little over 2 hours here which included waiting for other groups to finish at several spots. What a treasure! NOTES/TIPS: **Parking was easy in their own lot. "Udder Heaven Ice Cream" and a BBQ spot are directly across the street. **Open mid-April through October. Children 3 and under are free. **Though there are some shady trees and structures, I suggest bringing sunscreen and water. **Vending machines for drinks are on premise near the main entrance. **For every hole-in-one, you get a chance at a prize on a prize wheel. Super fun mini golf course about 10-15 min outside of downtown Bar Harbor. We had a beautiful sunny day and the course was fun. It could have used a few more obstacles as we picked the "challenging" Blackbeard's course but some holes were still very basic. Fun for the family! I read it does get crowded and there always seemed to be a lot of people every time we drove by, so we went right when it opened at 10am on a Sunday morning. They have two 18-hole courses: an original course and a challenge course. It took our group of 4 adults about an hour to do the original course. The golf balls float, so no worries if you hit them into the water. After you're done, you bring the scorecard back to the window where you return the clubs. The worker spins the wheel and it lands on a number. If anyone got a hole in one on that hole, you get a token for a free game for next time! read more

A super fun mini golf! Beautiful setting with gorgeous flowers and water features. There are 2 18 holes courses, both super fun. Sometimes it can get overcrowded- they allow groups larger than 5-6 to play and also groups where only the kids would play, so sometimes can create a weird waiting or encroaching dynamics. First I am not a mini golf type of person so this review comes from someone who has zero expectations and let me say this placed wowed me. Visiting Bar Harbor with the kids and we stayed maybe 5 mins away from this place so of course it is a nice place to bring the kids since they begged me. We came two separate nights ( yes I can't believe I came not only once but twice!) And the first night we just got the 18 hole and took the original course (the other one is more challenge one ) and it was set up very nicely and I really enjoyed it. Great putt putt spot! We were on a vacation to Acadia, and staying in Bar Harbor, and has nieces and nephews in tow. We showed up shortly after they opened, and were able to get on straight away. There are two 18 hole courses, both wonderfully fun. It took us just short of two hours for our two foursomes to play both courses. Upon turning in the putters, there was a spin of a wheel where you might win a free round. We ended up winning several. Later, my wife and I returned for a free round at night. Just as good! We came here about 7:30pm and it was definitely a popular place but there was no wait to get in and get started. Each hole was fun and there was a good variety of difficulty so you could get excited about the occasional hole-in-one and then laugh at yourself when it takes 6 strokes to get the ball in. Staff was really friendly and sweet. Because we came at a busy time there was a little bit of bottlenecking on some of the more difficult holes but there are a decent amount of benches at each hole and they played some music while you were on the course that was great to listen to as well while you waited. This is an awesome place to come in the evening. Fair prices and 2 different courses you can choose from. We did the Blackbeard challenge which was super fun and did have some tricky holes. The greens were in spectacular shape. There was just on spot where there was a little tearing happening, but it didnt interfere with putting at all. The decor around the course is a fun pirate theme and almost every hole had a plaque to read about the history of Blackbeard. Highly recommend this spot. read more

Anywho, this place has 2 courses you can play on. One has a pirate ship even. The other has a cell with an annoying animatronics pirate that says bad things about your shots. We love mini-golf. Living in Orlando, I grew to love Pirate's Cove courses. They are well-done. This location was less expensive than others. We played both courses. There are some funny typos in the signage (facts about pirates). The courses are interesting and challenging. The greens are well-kept; I hate old courses that have holes in the turf or tree roots growing up out of the course. Looks like they added bricks in some areas to make the ball roll closer to the hole when it comes out of a PVC tube; that was disappointing, as was the rope designed to slow the ball down on a more challenging hole. But it's all just a game, so we had a great time nonetheless. I got four holes in one! I even earned a free game chip, good at any location with no expiration date. That was fun. read more

I LOVE cheesy stuff like this on vacations, and when I saw the reviews I thought I was in for the mini golf course of my life. In reality -- just okay. There are two to choose from; one takes you on the ship, and one through the cave. I found several of the greens were warped, causing unintentional sloping. (This is likely why I lost to my husband ;) And there weren't enough unusual putts to keep me interested... more barriers or water features or moving parts add interest. When you turn in your equipment, there's a prize wheel you can spin -- if it lands on a number you happened to score a hole-in-one on, you win a free game! Fun concept. Best Pirates Cove I have ever been to! While visiting Acadia we wanted to get our mini golf on so we stopped in at Pirates Cove. We have been to a few different locations and I have to say that this one takes the cake. Below are some of the highlights. 1. This course is well maintained and the staff here is incredible. 2. The course is the perfect balance between difficult but fun which kept us on our toes. 3. The prices was reasonable as usual. 4. We were able to use their scorecard website to keep track rather than having to dig out the scorecard and pencil after every hole. 5. At the end we were entered to win additional prices since my wife and I got a few holes in one during the game. In the end, the most fun I have had mini golfing in a very long time. Seems odd to give a mini-golf place 5-stars, just based on the category, but like most Pirate's Cove courses, this place beats up on just about any other course you've probably played. There are 36 holes, so you can waste a lot of time here on a dreary day, or if you're "Bar Harbored out" you can spend a night here as well. It's a fun place to take the family, friend, or even a double date. If you haven't played mini-golf in a while and think you're too old, give it a try again. It gives you plenty of time to chat in a fun setting, and lots of opportunities to razz your buddies for being somehow worse at mini-golf than they are at real golf, or commenting on how the 7-year old in front of you is beating all of them, etc. Oddly I wrote all that because someone made the call to play mini-golf recently, and I was incredibly skeptical, thinking it would be boring and stupid, but we all agreed afterward that it was a fun way to burn some time. There's also pirate trivia along the way, which adds something to distract yourselves with while waiting for the people in front of you... I bet I still have "One Free Round" tokens for this place in the "drawer for things that don't have a specific drawer" in the kitchen... read more

After spending the three previous days at Arcadia park decided to take my 5yo on his first ever mini golf excursion and had a wonderful time! We came with a party of 6 and got there relatively early slightly before 10am. It was sparsely populated as we anticipated since we didn't want to be rushed by other parties and that was relatively successful. The course was well maintained and decorated but had a nice shade coverage, almost each hole had a spot in which you could park yourself in the shade while the rest of your party plays. They have both an easy and hard course in which you could play, even with our large party we were able to finish the 18 holes in a little over an hour. At the end, they gave the kids a nice pirate hat and kiddie bag. And if you show them your score card with a hole in one on the designated hole they'll give you free game tokens. BONUS! Overall, we had a wonderful time at mini golf and gave my kid an amazing first experience. read more
