For some reason I feel like I just wrote a review of Pirates Cove mini golf, that's right I Did, because I played the other location just up the road. There are 2 Pirates cove locations in the greater lake George region, this one has 2 18 hole courses, the other only has one course. Pirates Cove has 2 18 hole park style course, think bigger greens with more elevation changes than obstacles to avoid, so it is slightly different than the other courses in the area. The course here are well themed, well landscaped, and in great condition. All of the courses make use of elevation changes, the water features and even the existing trees at this location. Because of these trees there is plenty of shade even on sunny days. They even have a hole on a big pirate ship. The only down side to this location is some of the holes are repeated at many mini golf courses. You will definitely have already played some of the holes you will play here. So it is not as unique as some of the other area courses. Overall of the 2 Pirates Cove locations in the area this would be my recommendation of the location to play, I think that the course at the other one is better, but because this spot has 2 I would rather play here. My friend and I had the perfect miniature golf experience this past weekend. We had intended to come here last year but got lost (cough... my fault) and stopped at the other course just next door. This year, we planned better and got here just fine. There was plenty of parking. The course was beautiful. I mean, it was immaculate. The greens were in perfect condition with little to no dirt on them. The occasional bit of of a leaf was easily removed, and the brick edging was solid. Each hole had flowers... lots and lots of different flowers... and they were all in bloom and really well done. It was like going to a landscaping company. There was no trash to speak of. The water features, including ponds and waterfalls and streams were fake blue but absolutely stunning. Altogether, this would have been a great place to take a walk and enjoy nature but there was golf to be played! There are two 18-hole courses and we played them back to back for a minor discount. The holes are challenging but most of that consists of up-down challenges (hit the ball just hard enough to get up the hill without it rolling back down) or maneuver the course challenges (get the ball between a course of rocks, or around a curved trap, etc). There were little to no shortcut tubes (which I love). But, there was a water jump and I have never seen that before! Taken together, it was a simple course but not an easy one if you are hamfisted with a putter. For those that get tired, there are benches at each hole to step an rest. Unlike other places where the benches rock like a Journey concert, these were nice and sturdy. There were also trivia notes at each hole explaining about the history of famous pirates. It made waiting for the groups in front of us more enjoyable. My friend got two hole-in-one shots. I got robbed three times in that regard (I have never seen a ball slowly bounce over a cup so many times in my life!) and the last shot was a mere 1/2" from the hole. ARGGG! Oh well, the prices were reasonable and we had a blast. Since this is a chain of three miniature golf courses, I am excited to try the others. read more

Two courses in this one, an easier Captains course or the more challenging Blackbeard's course, you could choose either one or even both if you want in a 36 hole challenge, both are equally fun though. the courses are well kept and clean. the staff are inviting and friendly. definitely worth checking out if in the area. Tip: Stop by any tourist area or shop in or around Lake George area and they have coupons for $1 off per person at any Pirates Cove. read more

My family plays a lot of miniature golf and have tried nearly all of the local (and many out of town courses) and we consider this one of the best local courses around. We always do the 36-hole challenge and play both courses, starting with whatever one has less people on it at the time. We've played both courses so many times now that we know exactly what brick to aim at or what line to take on each hole....and it's still a challenge. LOL Always a good time and we have fun here everytime. I'm a retired US Army combat veteran and the fact that this business allows both active military and veterans to play for free is awesome! I really appreciate the support for local businesses for those that sacrificed much to protect this country. I'd give them a 6th star for that alone! The courses are very well maintained here and there is seldom any debris on the greens which is surprising since there are a lot of trees providing shade all over the course. The waterfalls and ponds are nice too and the pirate history presented at each hole is interesting. I highly recommend this place for all ages. read more

Clean place, but not safe. Today, my young daughter and I finished a round of golf. At the place where you return the clubs there were two employees; one inside and one outside of the counter. In front of the counter on the ground was a leaf blower. My daughter tripped over that. The path there is rough stone. She cut both of her knees and hands and bruised her elbow. Even though two employees were within 3 feet of it, no one saw fit to pick up equipment so that children do not trip over it. I can not recommend a mini golf establishment with a disregard for safety. read more

This place is absolutely gorgeous! The putting greens are well kept, neat and clean....I swear you could have eaten off from anywhere in this park....that's how clean it was. The landscaping puts any other in the area to shame! Beautifully cut trees, well manicured and trimmed grasses, waterfalls, ponds (with frogs) and a variety of well kept plants and flowers sets this place off! The staff was extremely friendly and courteous and would recommend it to anyone looking for good family fun. read more

I am told that this is the larger of the two Pirate's Cove Adventure Golf locations in the area and probably the better one. We went on the more difficult Blackbeard's Challenge, which cost $14.90 for one child and one adult. The easier course is 45 cents cheaper or you can do the 36-hole challenge at a significant discount. Overall, it was a fun and enjoyable experience but it ended a little too quickly. Perhaps the 36-hole challenge would've been more satisfying but it would probably have gotten tedious. I would have enjoyed more challenging and intricate courses but the target audience is probably much younger than me and would get frustrated and bored with anything harder. Definitely stop by if you've got some extra time with nothing to do on a visit to Lake George. read more

It's a beautiful well maintained course but it's advertised as accessible when it's really not. The Blackbeard's course is supposed to be the accessible option but it's only accessible up to hole 7 of 18. We took our young daughter in a wheelchair and paid for our entire family of six people and had to stop after hole 7 because her wheelchair could not get up the mountains of stairs that were not advertised throughout the rest of the course. read more

I took my two kids here mini-golfing this past weekend and this was such a fun course. It is very well maintained and I love the decorations. My son loved that the pirate ship is part of the course. The advanced course is fairly difficult and there are many places where you might lose your golf ball in a stream or waterfall. My youngest son was in a stroller but I wouldn't recommend taking a stroller as there were many stairs. Although each set wasn't long, there were just a lot of them. We had so much fun though and I also want to say that the two young employees that were working there were so friendly, helpful, and accommodating. They really went above and beyond in terms of customer service. I rarely see such friendly people at any business and both employees couldn't have been out of high school. I was very impressed with the course, decor, and service. I'm looking forward to going back next summer. read more

Did both Blackbeard's and captains courses. Very well maintained courses. Both are fun. Blackbeard's course was a bit better. Staff was very friendly. Was a bit expensive, but on par for the area. A few of the cup lips were raised on the captains course which frustrated my older son. Liked the pirates hanging from trees and all the signs!! read more
