Saw the coupon that you see in the pic and decided to try this place out. The halal menu was the real draw and we're always willing to try something new. We were very pleasantly surprised that the quality and portion size that we got for the money that they charged. To date, it's the only place that knows how to cook lamb properly! My wife and I enjoyed our first dinner at Kallisto last evening. We took along two friends visiting Ottawa so this dining experience was new to all of us. I can report it was a good decision. No serious complaints about our dinners. My wife and I thought the rice did lack just slightly in flavor and the Greek potatoes were not the traditional style we expected. They were oven baked but, to be fair, they were still good. Our friends had absolutely no complaints so, on balance, we each gave Kallisto's chef two thumbs up. My husband and I had dinner here recently and overall it was very good 3.75 stars, rounded up to 4. This Greek restaurant is in Blossom Park, an area of town that we rarely go to (actually, it was my first time in that neighbourhood). My husband had forgotten some of his belongings at one of his work sites and needed the items before he was scheduled to go back there. I said, hey if you're going to go all the way there, let's see if there are any good restaurants in the area. You know me, any excuse to try a new (to me) restaurant in a new (to me) area, lol. A Yelp search led me to Kallisto's. There is a restaurant side and an express side for takeout. We dined in, in the restaurant side. I noticed that the prices are about $1 less for takeout. I got the Shrimp Salad ($20) and my husband got the Lamb Souvlaki Dinner ($22). My salad had romaine lettuce, hearts of palm, artichokes, tomatoes, and cucumbers. I asked for the dressing (a thick and creamy peppercorn dressing) on the side, and it arrived as requested. They gave me sooooo much dressing. I used about a twelfth of what they gave me. However, I didn't finish my salad and had them pack up the rest and now I have dressing to use for the next few weeks, lol! The salad was good, but I think a crunchy element would have improved the salad, since I love lots of different textures in my salad. My husband enjoyed his meal and while I didn't have any, it looked really good. I think you get more bang for your buck with a souvlaki dinner than a dinner salad. His dinner came with a sizeable side salad (romaine lettuce, red cabbage, carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers and black olives), potatoes, rice, grilled vegetables (1 slice of zucchini and a piece of bell pepper) and 2 skewers of lamb. Service was friendly. The place was neat and clean looking. The restaurant is in the same strip mall as Giant Tiger, Farm Boy, Dollar Tree, and Kardish. Lots of free parking. read more

I had lunch today at Kallisto Greek Restaurant. I love chicken souvlaki and that's what I ordered without the salad). I've had it many times over the years and this was just okay. The rice and potatoes are usually lemony and these seemed like diner rice and potatoes rather than Greek rice and potatoes. The chicken was good but there wasn't a lot of it for $14. The tzatziki didn't have a lot of kick and was rather bland. I couldn't taste any cucumber and detected maybe a bit of mint? Vera was the server and she was friendly. read more

Stopped in here this evening for dinner with my friend. We decided to get some take out. The restaurant was clean and nice. It was a tad dark in there but I didn't mind. The waitress who served us was so sweet! She gave us free drinks too! We ordered the Gyro plate, which comes with a Gyro sandwich, Greek style potatoes and Greek salad. The sandwich was really good, the pita bread was fresh. The potatoes were yummy, but there were only 3 slices? I thought that was kind of a small portion. I was disappointed because Greek potatoes are my favourite. The salad was great though! I might visit here again and try the souvlaki next time. :) read more

It's been a while since I've been to Ottawa and because we arrived later we wanted to try something close to my future sister in law's neighborhood. We came upon this restaurant. It's quiet outside but inside was buzzing with activity. Service was good overall, our waitress asked if we wanted to move to somewhere quieter as there was a larger party there tonight, which was really nice of her. We ordered souvlaki pork and chicken, meat moussaka and crab cake. Portions were on the larger side (which is great!) and I wasn't able to finish my food. Entrees also came with a side of salad. The food is actually very delish! I didn't find it too salty and everything was quite tasty, almost like homestyle but better than just that. The crab cake could have been a bit tougher, the inside was quite soft and kind of fell apart as soon as I started digging into it. The rice was really good, potatoes were amazing! The moussaka I would've liked it more if there was some kind of tomato sauce with it too, but it was still pretty good. The only thing (and why it's 4 and not 5 stars) I will point out is that while all the tables were served with bread baskets, we were not served. I didn't end up asking for it since I was already full, but it could be because it was because of the large party they may have forgot our table, but would be nice to try their bread basket! The greek salad dressing is REALLY good... and I mean, anyone can make friggen dressing, but this is one that I will remember and crave (crave salad.. who knew) I don't normally like potatoes, but the ones that came with my take out dinner were suprisingly moist and had a refreshing spice to it. Going back to the dressing part, most of the meal was like this.. Easy to make but something about it here made it *that* much better. It's a little underwhelming from the outside (change the entry door graphics) - but once inside it's a very nice modern place. We had dinner, the Saganaki appetizer was terrific, with the flashing (fire in pan) done at the table side - about a 3 foot flame! Opa! The starter greek salad was very good, pretty sure it was home made dressing which is a nice plus - everything was very fresh. Had the mixed grill for 2 which was fantastic, and could easily feed 3 people unless your famished. All of the meat was very well seasoned, cooked and tender. I went to Kallisto on a work lunch and it was a great experience, even though we were a large group. Service was fast and friendly and the food was hot and delicious. I got the chicken wrap plate which includes Greek salad and potatoes and everything was really good. The potatoes weren't dried out and tasted delicious and the dressing on the Greek salad was fantastic! The service was great for a large group and the food came out very quickly and almost all at the same time which is nice when you are a group of ten. Was terribly disappointed just now. Ordered through Uber Eats but only half our order turned up. Our receipt showed full order, but when we called the restaurant to ask 'how do we fix this?' they said 'we don't'. When we asked for clarification he just kept saying we didn't order from them, we ordered from Uber. And what did we expect him to do 'make you free food?!' we paid for it! We have a receipt. Even if it is something to be sorted through uber the person on the phone could have explained it instead of being incredibly rude and acted like it wasn't his problem. Shouldn't he care about the customers having his food regardless of how we ordered it? Based on this experience we will not be returning to this restaurant. This place is a real gem! A friend knew I liked Greek and so took me out there. Being Euro, I felt something about the menu was not authentically Greek, but my friend told me the owners are Lebanese, which explained some of the items. Service was not fast, but they were friendly and unpretentious. There were no photos of the food and so I skipped the starter and went for the lamb/shrimp platter. I nearly died when they brought out a separate plate of Greek salad and another larger plate with the main course. The food is fresh, well-prepared, over-sized and priced low ($18) - the same meal in much of Europe would cost $50-60. Not hyper-classy like downtown, but a place you should check out. First time at Kallisto. Really enjoyed our meal of Beef au Brandy. Excellent starter salad - all fresh vegetables, great dressing, nice topping of crumbled feta. Large portions with lots of quality cuts of beef, generous fresh mushrooms and onions in a delicious sauce - we had to take a doggy bag home. Reasonable prices. Would have rated to 5 star if a bread serving was included with the meal to sop up some of that scrumptious gravy. Though we by-passed the desserts, the prices were very good. Bottom line, 2 platters ran ya like $37 tax in and now it's like $48. That's too much. I'll be hitting the competition next time we crave greek food. I see they are expanding the restaurant. We were in town for Winterlude and we decided to take a cab from our hotel to this restaurant. It was well worth it. They honored our reservations on time and welcomed us like we were family. The humus appetizer was very tasty and the portion was huge for the three of us. The salads came out with a very tasty dressing and once again a large portion. We had the chicken souvlaki and the vegetarian moussaka. The portions were big and more importantly, very tasty. We even took some home with us. The service was very good and friendly and the place was clean. One of the patrons forgot their purse when they left and the staff went outside looking for them. Prices are very reasonable for the portions and quality of food. We wouldn't hesitate to go back. read more

Yuck and mush - my small fatouche salad was terrible with way too much "sour tasting" vinaigrette and no buns or bread served with it. The cost $10.00. My friend had a vegetarian lasagna that looked like mush. Lots of food but it seemed that quantity was taking the place of quality. Water glasses were not replenished nor was the coffee. Rude, terrible service for a takeout order. We ordered and were charged for 2 apps and mains (4 wrap platters) for four people and only received two apps and one wrap. So less than half our order. My friend who ordered called as soon as we received the food to say there had been a mistake, the person on the phone said, "Well, I sent you everything we got." When my friend said 'OK, there must be something wrong with your system. I was charged for four mains, and we only received the apps. How do we fix this?' The person on the phone said, "We don't." And then proceeded to argue with my friend about how he wouldn't make us "free food" even though what we have paid for was over 50$ and we only received two apps and a wrap totaling approximately 20$. My friend was not rude, was simply trying to get the food that we ordered. However, the person on the phone made no attempt to understand what happened, just an assumption that we were trying to scam them or something and became rude and angry immediately. No apology, or attempt to resolve it. In fact they said we were 'giving them a hard time' and this 'wasn't their problem.' I'm sorry for bothering you by ordering from your restaurant, we won't do it again. read more
