As most of us can relate, going to the dentist is NOT a favorite activity. But, there's always…read moreexceptions to the rule. I had lived in the Orcutt area and could not find decent dental care. We knew we were moving to Pismo Beach so I started "interviewing" dentists in the area. I tried Oaks Dental and luckily I got an appointment with Dr. Berry. I can honestly say in my almost 60 years of going to the dentist that he is by far the best I've been to. I had a complicated situation with an old dental implant that needed to be removed. Initially he referred this type of work to an orthodontist-since this is their specialty. After seeing 2 orthos, they were unsuccessful in removing my 30+ year implant. Dr Berry wouldn't accept defeat so he took it upon himself to get creative and he was successful in getting the implant out. The removal of this implant was imperative as I needed a bridge. I just want to add that not only is he at the top of his professional game, but he's acutely aware of my time (which other doctors lack). To top it off, he's always in a great mood, even if his work load is full, and he's fun to chat with. I HIGHLY recommend Dr Berry and his staff of Julie, Office Manager and Missy, front desk. This is a fantastic office and you will be happy to have your dental care looked after by them. Thank you again Dr Berry for all the work and patience you've had with my case!

I'm leaving this review because I stumbled on his yelpsite while looking for ortho and was surprised by the low stars. Majority of the low reviews seem like billing or scheduling issues, which seem more front office related. I did personally did not have any issues with the front office or feel rushed, but these concerns made by others do seem valid. On the flipside, we found the dentist himself to be very capable with regard to the dental work, having great chairside manners. I hope this review helps.

Also they don't want you to be in any pain, (I had root canal and there wasn't a large amount of pain,- also my nerve didn't want to come out so it took longer than usual) which made my anxiety go down a lot. I also have no insurance at the moment and they were more than willing to work out a plan (They have a thing where if you don't have insurance they will give you 30% off) This is coming from a person who hasn't been to the dentist in 8 years (I feel really guilty about it...) and hey, I even went back!

I needed a new crown put in for one that was missing. I asked for the first appointment for 2023 when my insurance would be available. I was given an appointment for Jan. 4th. On the morning of the appointment Adrian called me and cancelled the appointment. She said Dr. Jones was sick for Wednesday and Thursday. I don't know how she knew he would be out two days? As a coincidence it was during the big storm and Dr. Jones is wild about surfing. I figured he was riding the big waves for the two days, That's his business. Adrian said she could reschedule me for sometime in February. I thought she'd get me in on that Monday. After waiting that long with an annoying tooth , months it signaled the end of a 17 years business relationship. Dr, Jones is a nice guy and does decent work but if he's off two days sick he should work the following two Fridays to get the patients in that have been waiting, I bet he never considered this. I was a loyal patient for all those years, If he lost me as a patient something is seriously wrong,

The road was long and not cheap, but outcome was well worth it. The Dr. and whole staff are very professional and kind. After 5 years I have a new smile that I'm very proud of and healthy mouth. I had…read morecompletely forgotten about the appointment because I decided to not return to Dr. Pritchett for the treatment he recommended because, I did not trust his ability to do it, or if I needed it. Also: The X-ray system used was ancient, painful and extremely inefficient. He still has the old system with the cardboard x-ray film, the kind they have to shove into your mouth to get the picture. Very uncomfortable, and it took a long time. I questioned the assistants actual training. Second: When Dr.Pritchett did not directly introduce himself. He mumbled a greeting as he stood out of my sight behind the chair. Third: he started cleaning my teeth with the jet water spray system. This system can be very painful if the Dr. does not know or Care how hard the spray is. I told him, but he said that was the system he used. When I told him to stop he said something like 'I guess I can go back to the old way using tools.' I would not recommend Dr.Pritchett. to any one. After declining to pay the late charge, I reconsidered and I asked if he would settle the late charge for $50.00? He declined stating that $100.00 is the policy. I really object to the charge on the grounds that this fee seems excessive and it was such a poor visit. The leftover taste in my mouth after this appointment was very unpleasant and decisive. It was my mistake to not act on my reaction and a cancel while it was on my mind. Lesson Learned.

Have worked in dental offices for 20 years and found Dr Pritchett office excelled in all areas to make you extremely comfortable and confident that your well being was the utmost of importance.. Mrs. N Rousseau April 21 2022. Had emergency large chipped front tooth today at approx 11:30 am. I knew that lunch time was most likely on their approach, but I called and they got me right in without any hesitation. Dr. Pritchett is the only Dentist I (and my family now too) will go to!…read moreI didn't have very good dental care as a kid (no fault of any dentist) and ended up with a mouth full of silver fillings by the time I was 10. The experience left me anxious to go to doctors and dentists. I first found Dr. Pritchett because I got to a point where I thought my teeth were in pain and I thought I might have bigger problems from not taking care of them. Dr. Pritchett didn't make me feel judged, he let me know a lot of it was simply allergy season sinus pain. I got my teeth a well needed cleaning and we made a treatment plan to get my teeth in better shape. I do have naturally straight teeth and afterwards people kept asking me if I got them whitened because they looked so white (just clean lol). Because Dr. P made me feel so comfortable and made my teeth feel so good, I started going regularly. Over the years, even my husband and kid have wanted to go to him too. Now he is our family dentist! We are originally from small towns and think it's so great to have someone you trust like that. Recently, I had a molar break while at work. I was so embarrassed and upset. My co-workers said that starts to happen as we get older but I figured it was my fault for slacking off on dental care for so many years. Dr. Pritchett's staff got me in as soon as I could come and ran my insurance to give me an idea of the cost (even though I would have financed getting it fixed asap if I had to). They guessed over the phone which tooth it was just based on my x-rays in my file. In all honesty, I had hesitated to do the work they told me I needed before my tooth broke on its own- my bad. It was a blessing in disguise thought because Dr. P offered to do all my fillings in that area while I was numb for the pre-crown work. I got to get my silver fillings out and my teeth are all white on that side now! I didn't even have pain after the numbing wore off. In fact, I must have been living with some discomfort because my mouth felt better and stronger. I love the look of the white and am coming back to do the other side when my insurance renews. And this crown actually cost less than one I had done in my 20s (but my husband is an RN so it might be because we have good insurance). Lastly, the environment is great, so comfy. Reminds me of the Cliff's Spa, especially with the warm face towel at the end. And feels like a family business too. We recommend being good patients and using the recommended antiseptic mouth wash after having work done on your mouth. Also, buy the WaterPik (you won't have to lie that you floss ever again haha). We appreciate you guys, The Knowles
