After years of dealing with chipped teeth and missing crowns and trying to find a dentist I could trust and work with, in 2021 I started a dental plan with Dr. Pritchett. I was charged $100.00usd for missing an appointment. I had completely forgotten about the appointment because I decided to not return to Dr. Pritchett for the treatment he recommended because, I did not trust his ability to do it, or if I needed it. Also: The X-ray system used was ancient, painful and extremely inefficient. He still has the old system with the cardboard x-ray film, the kind they have to shove into your mouth to get the picture. Very uncomfortable, and it took a long time. I questioned the assistants actual training. Second: When Dr.Pritchett did not directly introduce himself. He mumbled a greeting as he stood out of my sight behind the chair. Third: he started cleaning my teeth with the jet water spray system. This system can be very painful if the Dr. does not know or Care how hard the spray is. I told him, but he said that was the system he used. When I told him to stop he said something like 'I guess I can go back to the old way using tools.' I would not recommend Dr.Pritchett. to any one. After declining to pay the late charge, I reconsidered and I asked if he would settle the late charge for $50.00? He declined stating that $100.00 is the policy. I really object to the charge on the grounds that this fee seems excessive and it was such a poor visit. The leftover taste in my mouth after this appointment was very unpleasant and decisive. It was my mistake to not act on my reaction and a cancel while it was on my mind. Lesson Learned. read more

PROCEED WITH EXTREME CAUTION, ALWAYS BE YOUR OWN ADVOCATE. DON'T TRUST, VERIFY. Short Summary: Dr. Pritchett identified 8 fillings needed. I listed to my instincts and got a second opinion. The second dentist I saw did a full exam with X rays and found absolutely ZERO dental work needed. Second Dentist called my oral and teeth health "impeccable" - Not one filling, no work needed. Dr. Pritchett is disingenuous and his excessive findings suggest possible malpractice for monetary gain. Don't trust, Verify. Always listen to your instincts. Full Visit Description: Visited on 10/8/24 for basic cleaning only. Checked in and sat down. Office staff unaware I was sitting in lobby. Dental staff argument ensued, completely unprofessional. I would have walked out if I didn't need a cleaning. Dr. Pritchett attempted to sell expensive products/services several times to which I declined. Several other red flags during visit however the icing on the cake is finding out I needed fillings. Quantity was unknown at the time, information appeared to be intentionally obfuscated to keep patients from knowing too much or asking questions. I did not get to see my X rays either. I eventually came to believe I needed 4 fillings. I called back a day later to schedule my fillings and found out that actually 8 were needed. Something felt off - I called around the area and found a second dentist that would see me on the fly to provide a second opinion on the matter. I explained the initial findings to my second dentist - to which they did full mouth X rays and through teeth exam. THE SECOND DENTIST FOUND ZERO CAVITIES/ZERO FILLINGS NEEDED. They were just as shocked as I was. You serious, Clark!? Zero, Nil, Zip, None, Nada!? Are you sure? The second dentist laughed and confirmed. Okay - look, let me give Dr. Pritchett a slight benefit of the doubt: sometimes different medical professionals can come up with different findings. It's inevitable. But 8 vs. 0? Not even 1? How can you F*'up that badly? To which my gut feeling is this: It wasn't a mistake. I am perceiving this to suggest possible fraudulent practice and I am so thankful I listened to my intuition. I hope you do the same. Take care of YOURSELF - DON'T TRUST, VERIFY. There are medical/dental practitioners out there that do not have your best interests in mind. Is Dr. Pritchett one of them? We sadly had a poor experience. Nice guy, but too much talking. We were then charged an exorbitant amount for x-rays because the dental hygienist could not get a clear picture and had to redo multiple times. We were then charged times for cancellation fees due to not canceling before 48 hours as opposed to just the 24 hours. Despite voicing our poor experience, we continue to get text messages asking if we would like to return. read more

I've been going to Dr. Pritchett for a little over a year now and I have to say him and his staff are 100. I think a have had it all done by him. I have had fillings, multiple crowns, tooth extractions and a bridge, everything came out wonderfully. I love that he takes his time and is perfectionist at what he does. Gregory Pritchett is the Worst Dentist Ever! Be careful what you let him do to your mouth. They'll suggest you buy a dental discount card so you can receive discounted prices with him. And then he wants to do way too much work during 1 procedure. I agreed to have quite a bit of work done in one sitting, "sadly from the onset of his/the work I experienced pain". I went back in many times and it was never resolved. It took almost 2 years to get the pain 100% resolved with the patience of another dentist here in town in Grover Beach at WhiteCrest Smart Dentistry. I had to have Dr. Pritchett's dental work completely removed and replaced. When I called Dr. Pritchett's office and ask them to consider refunding me for at least one of the crowns, his staff became defensive and said no. And unfortunately none of his original staff is there from when I had revisited many times for relief of the un resolved pain. His staff turnover is high! This is my second time posting a review about this horrible dentist and I sure do hope Yelp will allow this post to be seen. I hope to post it on Google reviews also. This dentist is okay in terms of the work he does, although in my opinion he in not very thorough. He mumbles to himself throughout his service. He always tries to upsell with fluoride treatments (I've gone here about five times; I've switched now). His office is generally inefficient. They had my contact information incorrect and when I forgot to write on my calendar my six month cleaning check-up (my bad, truly) and didn't get a reminder, I missed the appointment and got billed for missing. The final straw was that they were out-of-network for my insurance, but assured me beforehand they were in-network. Then I got billed--when the preventive care (all I ever need, knock on wood) should have been covered. The office was completely unsympathetic. Sorry Charlie, pay up. read more

This was my first visit to Central Coast Dentist and I was very happy with it. I was welcomed very nicely and every thing they did was explained well. I actually primarily was there for X-rays to be sure I had no infections leading up to a knee replacement, but my former dentist told me I also needed a deep cleaning below the gums, while Dr Pritchett here at CCD said that was not necessary. And while he did recommend an electric toothbrush and a Waterpic, which they sell there, it was no high-pressure sales job. Upon leaving, I've already scheduled my next cleaning. I think Dr P is a nice caring person, that unfortunately for who knows what reasons, can't seem to keep a good hygienist. Having my teeth cleaned regularly is critical to keeping my teeth healthy and I go at least twice a year. His last two hygienists left after only a few months, (they were both fabulous by the way) and that causes me deep concern that there is an internal issue he can't seem to resolve. The staff said they left because they were offered "more hours" elsewhere. A potential reason they might have left if that his "RULE" is that he does require their hygienist to PUSH the FLUORIDE solution ($35), which I will never do. This last time (a few days ago) he actually cleaned my teeth, nicked my gums twice, made me bleed much more than any hygenist he had and I felt like he rushed through the cleaning, didn't polish my teeth, had his "other" hygienist do it, and she didn't bother to check the records to see I had a bridge and honestly, wasn't very effective. I mentioned to him after the second gum nick, that he was not being very gentle, and he said "You have plaque", no apology at all, how about saying "I will try to be more gentle". Really Doctor.... I think I have given him adequate support over the last year and a half, and most likely will NOT return if/and until/ he can keep a good hygenist. The one who polished my teeth, at the end of his cleaning was less than satisfactory. Why is finding a good dentist in my area so hard? I drove down to Pismo to spend a week there when disaster struck. There I was eating a cheesecake and my temporary crowns (two of them), had fallen out and was just rolling around in my mouth as I was chewing on my cheesecake! I did get the normal warnings from the dentist who had installed them: no hot stuff, no cold stuff, no hard stuff. Cheesecake was definitely not on the list. I think what happened was the cheesecake created a vacuum and just sucked the temporary crowns right out. Unfortunately there were two of them and were originally connected, but had disconnected during this unfortunate incident. Luckily I did not swallow them and saved them. I was in vacation for the food, fish, and surf. That made eating food not so pleasant. Then I went surfing the next morning and the cold air and water caused some sharp pain with the crowns missing so that meant surfing was out as well and I had half my week to go! I called a number of local dentists, none willing to help either because they were booked, or didn't want to deal with an attached temporary crown. I eventually got to Dr Pritchett's office and were sympathetic to my situation. They had a cancellation that day so took me right away! The office was well cleaned, and well staffed. Dr Pritchett was very professional and talked through the whole procedure about what I could expect and advice to avoid this happening again. More importantly he put my teeth back together quickly and painlessly. On my way out I got some great fishing tips from the receptionist, Janelle. Information like that and the good service made this trip to the Five Cities so much more better than expected. read more

So many great things to say about this place! Super clean office! Super helpful and friendly staff! I had an emergency and they were able to accommodate! Dr. Pritchet was so helpful and willing to listen and discuss options. I had to deal with some dental issues since I was 17, I cannot tell you how many times I felt embarrassed and uncomfortable, maybe even misunderstood throughout the years. I would highly recommend this place! And am actually looking forward to having my mouth brought back to a healthy condition! Dentist sprayed me with water everywhere except my mouth. Very unprofessional. He kept going on and on about flossing and how my teeth won't last blah blah. Meanwhile every other dentist I've gone to says I do a great job taking care of my teeth. And then he wouldn't stop trying to sell me Flouride and the water flosser. He really pissed me off. Painful and inefficient. Had regular cleanings and dental work done by Greg. His office staff is pleasant. The oral hygienist was always nice and pain free. My problem is with him. Had fillings done and had to come back because they did not feel right. After going for three years he sent me a bill for $800for billing mistakes to my insurance. Apparently his office was billing wrong. After I questioned it he dropped it to $350. Went to another dentist and they need to redo some of his work. They said it was done unprofessional. Everything was played for before I left the office and now because of a screw up on their end I have to suffer. I chose Dr. Pritchett is religious affiliation. I was afraid that would be because of my tooth loss. My teeth are very fragile and they have been coming out is it easily. I decided the best thing to do was to remove the remaining teeth and get dentures. First I was very scared and I was very afraid of being very judgmental of me. Dr. Pritchett and his amazing staff has been understanding and have made me feel my "new" teeth are going to look just fine. The day that Dr Pritchett removed the rest of my teeth you could see the decay from the inside out. They held my hand as I cried. They have been gentle and caring. I went to Dr. Pritchett and was told I needed 2 new crowns and I had 3 cavities! I haven't had a cavity since I was a little girl. It just didn't feel right so I went to another dentist that I love for a second opinion. He just gave me fillings on my receding 2 gum molars instead of 2 new crowns. I asked him about my cavities and he said I didn't have any!!!! He said he couldn't sleep at night if he lied. I didn't mention any names to him but the hygienist said she already knew. read more

Really impressed with Central Coast Dentist. I ended up having a dental emergency during this COVID-19 Pandemic and have been calling and leaving messages to multiple dentists in the area. I called Central Coast Dentist close to closing hours, as I am still currently working and there was no answer. I ended up not leaving a voicemail because I was so discouraged that I just won't be able to get in to see a Dentist and the Receptionist ended up calling me right back even though it was past closing time to ask what I needed. I told her how much pain I was in and they got me in ASAP and worked around my work schedule. Janelle the receptionist was the sweetest and really made sure I was taken care of. When I saw Dr. Pritchett, he did his exam and really explained everything in detail in a compassionate way as I think he could tell how nervous I was. A root canal was recommended and he referred me out to Dr Lloyd Marcum (which was also AMAZING) and Janelle made the appointment for me while Dr Pritchett completed his exam. It was so nice to have such a great caring Doctor and his staff take care of me as I was in excruciating pain. And let me tell you, it is the best call i made. Dr Pritchett is the best. He made my experience a comfortable and relaxing one. Didn't feel like I was given exceptional customer service. Being referred here from another dentist I thought this would be a great dentist, but it was not. As a cash patient I work hard for my money and am friendly and just want the same treatment in return. Dentist wouldn't ask whether I had any questions after procedures or thank me for choosing to come to his office. During procedure I would feel water sliding down my cheek and down my neck and it was dried off and that was disturbing. Staff was somewhat friendly. However, they would change rates whenever I asked what certain procedures would cost. I then had to purchase a "discount" dental plan that no one else accepts in the area. I wish I could give negative stars! This dentist completely scammed me and told me I had 13 cavities (in which I later found out I had none) and filled them all in one sitting! He also charged me thousands of dollars when he told me it wouldn't cost anything with my insurance. My mouth is now ruined because of him. I have been going to Dr. Pritchett for 12-13 yrs. I honestly cannot say enough good things about him and his staff without it sounding like he paid me to write this review. He is thorough, conscientious, kind and meticulous all aspects of his work. I am a "difficult" client in that, it's difficult to numb one side of my teeth and my teeth are really small. I have since changed dentist to his father Gary on Grand Ave in Grover Beach the difference is amaing.
