We were sad to leave 5 Cities but happy there is a local alternative for teens to continue pediatric care once they age out at 5 Cities.

Made my first appointment to take scans and was promptly ushered into a room and given a contract with several highlighted statements requiring my initials. One of the statements was providing blanket consent to 'slenderize' teeth (aka file them down to nubbins.) I said that I did not want that as a part of my treatment plan and was told it was 'required.' I would say that 100% of people that have never had invisalign are unaware that 'slenderizing' is filing your teeth down; a permanent process that can and has gone wrong for some- resulting in teeth that can be uneven, as well as irreparably damaging the tooth's essential protective enamel. Additionally, many patients come to the dentist/orthodontist with either or both anxiety disorders or previous dental trauma and to not only fail to educate patients on the process, but to also provide no problem-solving alternate approaches, and to not offer any anxiety medication management for a supposed 'required' procedure, indicates a doctor that is insensitive to the care of his patients and also implies a 'one-size-fits-all' approach to his methodology.

This dental office is incredible! I was on vacation with my family and my temporary crown cracked off. I simply went onto my phone to ask Siri where nearby dental offices were. There were a couple of other offices in the area, but they were not even a fraction as focused on customer service at this office. Most were rude and unconcerned with my issue as I would not be coming back frequently since I live in the Sacramento area. The receptionist, Nancy, was kind to me and not concerned that I could not be back as a continuous patient as I do not live near the area. She double checked with staff and was able to make me an appointment for a couple of hours later. When I arrived, all the staff were warm and friendly. I only waited a few minutes and Elouise was the RDA that assisted me. She was so sweet and I felt so at home with her. She quickly made me a replacement and I was in and out of that office within an hour! The reason this description is so long is I cannot even begin to thank them enough for prompt service so I could go back to my family vacation with my husband and seven and four year old children. I am truly grateful. If you live in the area, I recommend Oaks Dental Group hands down! If I lived in the area, this would be my dentist no question. The best dental treatment I have ever had!! Dr. Davis from the Oaks Dental Group in Pismo Beach was such a competent and very friendly doctor! He worked with care and thoroughness and although I had so much pain at the beginning, he let me feel comfortable the whole time. I am a german tourist and when I came to his office without an appointment, he treated me immediately anyway. He explained every step to me with patience and spent a lot of time. His assistent Angel was very very friendly and helpful too. Now I feel so much better and I would love to fly back to Dr. Davis anytime I have problems with my teeth; unfortunately this isn't possible for me. But I can highly recommend Dr. Davis and his team to everybody who lives a bit closer to Pismo Beach than me. I don't feel pain anymore and I can enjoy the rest of my vacation. Excellent dental visit. I arrived at appointed time and admin people checked my temperature, found no fever, and completed check in. Hygienist came right out and took me to one of the work places, asked a few questions, and proceed with X-rays, and cleaning. When she finished, Dr. Davis came over, asked a few questions, did an examination, and we chatted about my dentristy, including the root canal earlier this year. Everything was professional and pleasant. Everyone in the office was using appropriate PPE and friendly demeanors. After our discussions, I scheduled my next visit and left. If you could have a better experience at the dentist, I cannot see how. I highly recommend this practice! read more

Best dental office I've ever been to! Mostly because of the dental assistant that worked on me! Angel was so nice and made me feel so comfortable (which is hard when needles are going into your mouth) lol I got so lucky to have her and for the first time going to the dentist was not that bad and I will probably not wait another year before the next time I go again as well! I was supposed to have a root canal done but after Dr. Adams got in and started to work on my broken tooth...all I needed was a crown! I was so anxious about going in but the whole staff made me feel so comfortable and not afraid one bit!! Thank you Dr. Adams and your entire staff! See ya in a few weeks! I originally saw his father, and Dr. Ian has inherited all the skills and patience that his father had. I also go in regularly for dental hygiene with Maria, and am just as happy with her work to keep my teeth looking and feeling healthy! Maria works quickly and I always walk away feeling like I have a new set of teeth. The office is in a beautifully restored Craftsman style house near Highway 101 and also close to Poly. It is clean, calm and relaxing. The front office staff is also attentive and patient. They can navigate the intricacies of billing and scheduling with cheer and ease. Dr. Ian also works on Saturdays, and they can fit you in should you have a dental emergency. They can also recommend specialists in the area if you need further work like dental surgery. The only downside for me is that they are out of my dental insurance provider, but I still get partial reimbursement. I would never go anywhere else because the quality of the work here is worth paying a bit extra for!

Was kinda scared to get a new dentist cuz I'm a special needs patient but Dr. Ryan and her assistant are truly caring n sensitive to your needs. Dr. Ryan listens and she's patient, understanding, gentle...through and through! Plus she knows her stuff!!! If you ever get to have her as your lifetime dentist you won't ever regret it. SLO SMiles is the best place on the Central Coast! Dr. Ryan is an amazing addition to the practice!
