As most of us can relate, going to the dentist is NOT a favorite activity. But, there's always exceptions to the rule. I had lived in the Orcutt area and could not find decent dental care. We knew we were moving to Pismo Beach so I started "interviewing" dentists in the area. I tried Oaks Dental and luckily I got an appointment with Dr. Berry. I can honestly say in my almost 60 years of going to the dentist that he is by far the best I've been to. I had a complicated situation with an old dental implant that needed to be removed. Initially he referred this type of work to an orthodontist-since this is their specialty. After seeing 2 orthos, they were unsuccessful in removing my 30+ year implant. Dr Berry wouldn't accept defeat so he took it upon himself to get creative and he was successful in getting the implant out. The removal of this implant was imperative as I needed a bridge. I just want to add that not only is he at the top of his professional game, but he's acutely aware of my time (which other doctors lack). To top it off, he's always in a great mood, even if his work load is full, and he's fun to chat with. I HIGHLY recommend Dr Berry and his staff of Julie, Office Manager and Missy, front desk. Cleaning went as expected. The issue I have with Oaks Dental is their very long lead times to get service. Even though I've been an established patient for over a decade, I've had to wait months and months for procedures. This is because they seem to give priority to when a patient makes their next appointment in the office; NOT when the patient was first associated with Oaks Dental! As a long-time patient who should be recognized for their loyalty, I feel I should be served first - First Come First Served. Instead, I'm forced to wait a long time because someone who just moved here from LA happened to be in the office first! So don't just keep bringing on new patients, take care of the ones who have been loyal to you over the years! I'm not holding my breath. read more

Oaks Dental is great! From the admin team to my hygienist, every team member is both friendly and professional.

Quality care by the hygienists, and the dentist is knowledgeable and skilled. The receptionists however are focused on insurance rather than customer experience. No friendly welcome, just business. Having to wait nearly a full year for what should be a 6-month cleaning tells me there's an imbalance and they may have taken on too many clients. I don't know that lack of hygienists is the only problem. read more

Great dentists and hygienists, I'd give them 5 stars if I was basing everything off of that! Unfortunately it's nearly impossible to get in every six months for a cleaning, so I ended up finding a new dentist. My last cleaning there was November 2024 and they didn't have any openings until September 2025. My coworker has this same issue with them and ended up finding a new dentist as well. Not the place to go if you like getting your teeth cleaned twice a year. read more

I mainly have been going to Oaks dental for teeth cleaning and minor check up. I have no real complaints although I go to another dental office for teeth cleaning as I alternate and I think they do a better job. I have to pay more but as they say you get what you pay for. I see Audrey for the teeth cleaning and she's very nice and informative. They are extremely busy right now and unfortunately my next cleaning is going to be out in October 2022. So I better keep using a water pick etc. Oh they are always on time I never have to wait very long. read more

This dentist group is one of the best that I've gone to. They provide excellent timely care with enough availability to suit my needs. The dentist was thorough and provided a lot of education about my oral health and ways to improve it. I'm a nurse, so some of my input may be more technical. I required a deep cleaning because of periodontitis. I was impressed by the thoroughness of the cleaning. It involved numbing, an ultrasonic deep cleaning, manual removal of tartar, then, most impressive, the use of a laser to heal diseased gum tissue followed by an antibiotic mouth wash. While the level of cleaning was intimidating, I was not overwhelmed by the process. The hygienist saw improvement at my next cleaning when she measured the depth of my pockets. Overall, I'm pleasantly surprised and thankful for the level of care I have at this office. read more
