RUDE FEMALE EMPLOYEE absolutely unbelievable i've been coming for YEARS and i have never dealt with someone so incompetent i wish i got her name but i honestly could not bare to talk to her any longer. She refused to take my order over the phone but when my husband called she was more than willing to take the order, when i arrived to pick it up she was very rude and gave me so much attitude for no reason EVEN after i gave her a $20 tip to share with the kitchen workers. As i was asking her questions about the drinks because we had ordered meals she rolled her eyes and closed the window in my face. I have been craving some falafels and I searched online and saw this place and wanted to try them out and I'm glad I did. It was pretty yummy! We ordered the falafels, chicken shawarma with fries, hummus with pita and lamb Shawarma. Everything was very good. They don't have dine in so they only have drive thru. You will have to order it and wait about 10 minutes at the drive. It's not a long wait knowing that they cook it fresh right there. We brought it home and it was still delicious. Pita Falafel is an old drive thru in Palos Hills. Looks like crap from the outside. They serve very good shit from the inside though. Basically it's a drive thru and you order from a vehicle and wait a few minutes for it. It doesn't take very long. This is fast food after all but it's just Middle Eastern instead of burgers and fries like most places. Cheap meals. The one I got here was the Super Falafel Sandwich. It's $5.99, which is hard to beat around here. This has hummus, pickles, and tahini. It comes on shrak bread. This is basically just a pita. Good cheap food. It's hard to find cheaper than here. Have to give these guys props for being open 24/7 and satisfying your craving for shawarma any time of the day or night. Overall, their shawarma is good. I have tried chicken, beef & Kufta and can confidently say it beats many of the places nearby by a mile or more especially considering they are drive through only and their prices are lower than most. The only areas of improvement, I would say, would be to please invest in a better speaker / microphone so that you don't need to be screaming from both sides. Second, please hand people a receipt at the end of a transaction, which is the norm everywhere. I am often left scratching my head on how much did the bill come up to . Neither does the guy at the counter confirm how much is being charged, nor do they give you a receipt once they swipe your card. You can see all the credit receipts being collected on the floor for some reason. Grape leaves do sell out fast, so you might not be able to get them if you're not as lucky! This is the diamond in the rough. This place is situated in a part of Bridgeview/Palos that has been revitalizing over the past decade, however, when this place opened, it was a different story. The building was a small drive through cigarette and coffee shop called Smoke and Joe. That's all they sold, and the place was just big enough to support it. It didn't take Dunkin too long to realize an untapped market so they opened up right next door and drove Smoke and Joe out of business. When Pita Falafel opened, i laughed. It didn't even look wide enough to fit a grill. It was drive through middle Eastern food. You can't cook it that fast. "I bet it's horrible". Across the street was an abandoned semi truck transfer station. Next door was a dog kennel that seemed too run down to be legal. Beyond that were several more abandoned buildings. The most prominent things in the area was a really old Walmart and a motel a mile up the road. I drove past this place a million times and always shook my head, but then something changed. I had recently tried middle Eastern food, but it was too far away to go to. Driving down Harlem one day, so hungry i could eat my steering wheel, it was the roach infested burger King or Pita Falafel. I chose Pita Falafel, and my life was changed. The sandwich looks like you didn't buy enough food, but if i eat it for dinner, i don't need breakfast in the morning. It's that filling. The garlic sauce is like a robust creamy dew dropped from the gods, and the people? Every time i have gone here, every person that has served me has been the most polite and well spoken employee. When you go there it feels like they are serving you, which is what is lacking, like, everywhere else. I ordered the steak shawarma as I was happy to see beef beginning to make its way around Chicagoland, but it didn't taste like beef shawarma like the usual shawarma places I've eaten at. I was hoping there would be some tahini sauce but had two little containers of mayonnaise and the french fries tasted as they had been sitting around for a few hours. From quality to taste, i didn't think it was going to be as good as it actually was. Went last night around 11:30pm, it looked so dilapidated , i almost left ( I'm very glad I didn't). I got the kifta kabob sandwich meal and I'm in love! The meat is juicy and flavorful with fresh vegetables. The fries are perfect fries, crispy yet still potato-ey. Garlic sauce with the fries and sandwich, Omg just extra yum. The food was so good I didn't want to stop eating, despite feeling stuffed. Eating my leftovers right now and it's still delicious. I'm sad I don't live in the area because I would be a frequent customer. Honestly i think it might be better than Baba Saj. Server was really nice too, I hope the owner renovates the restaurant. I've eaten food in a lot of different cities and states, so I have experienced a lot of Mediterranean food from different restaurants in the South, up north and all over in general. So I usually opt for those items but I like to try different things as well. I ordered the hummus as well as a Mediterranean (type) salad. I don't remember for sure if that was the name of the salad because they didn't give me a receipt, personally I think it's rude not to give a customer a receipt but I digress. I was way to tired to ask, after the guy closed the window, I hate that it's gotten so bad that people now have to ask for a receipt at different places. The salad was watery and I was very underwhelmed. The hummus wasn't horrible but it's not something I would call home for either. I like my homemade hummus better. The hummus weirdly put me in the mind of very smooth peanut butter.. come to think of it, I probably tasted more tahini than chickpeas. You don't need hummus, tabbouleh, cabbage, yogurt sauce, garlic sauce all on the same sandwich--it's too much. Lavash bread, garlic sauce, pickle, chicken, maybe a pepper--pressed down in a grill-- that's it. Do it right and that's all you need. The sandwich is good, but the meal is also really yum because they slice it into pieces which you can get really chubs and dip into more garlic sauce, and i don't know why, they're just regular fries, but they taste so good. It's the best shawarma in all of Chicago. You'll eat it in your car while it's still warm and you will be full and happy. Come here. No matter how long the wait is, it's worth it. read more
