Pita Pan has good food; I've had the chicken burrito which is delicious. However, the service is painfully slow and it can get pretty crowded inside. Moreover, when I was there the other day and ordered a chicken pita, I noticed that the cook didn't wear any sanitation gloves! This was after I observed him counting money from his pocket...gross. So despite the food being good, I don't think I'll be returning to PIta Pan unless they start implementing standard food safety practices. I go to Pita Pan whenever I'm in that part of the woods (I live in Midwood). It's all about the taste. My local turkish restaurant never impressed me with their pita sandwiches. Pita Pan does. I get a regular lamb pita, and everything about it is right - meat and sauce. Friendly staff. Not much on decor or accomodations. Added bonus - soft arabic music instead of nauseating pop. I called to confirm the items I wanted to eat were gluten free and said in the notes on my order that I was gluten intolerant so no pita. They called to confirm I could have rice. I said yes, rice is gluten free. When it arrived it looks amazing and I took a bite. I noticed that there were some long brown pieces in the rice that looked a LOT like pasta. I called to ask and was told the rice has noodles in it. I said noodles as in pasta? They said yes. I said I am the person who called with all of the gluten questions. when you called about the rice you didn't mention anything about pasta IN the rice. I told them I couldn't eat anything because of the pasta and asked them to replace it. They said they wanted me to be happy and would send over another order. It never showed up. I have been going to Pita Pan for about 7 years now and have always found the food to be fresh, hot and delicious. I have tried falafel from many places in NYC but this one keeps me coming back for more. It's also obvious that the babaganoush is made fresh, and not a canned product. The workers will work with any strange requests I may have and are generally friendly. Delivery service has gotten better this last year or so and the delivery guy is really friendly. read more

Best Mediterranean in Park Slope by far. Excellent yet inexpensive food, fast and friendly service, what more could you want? I've been to Israel and had a hard time finding anything that stacks up to my falafel experience there (so generally refrain from ordering it), and I am consistently impressed (if not pleased) with theirs. The flavors of all of their Middle Eastern dishes are terrific - my husband loves the kefta kabob plate. I love the chicken kabob and the and we both have to insist that you try the spinach pie. Great schwarma, great falafel, and the baklava is to die for. The guys behind the counter are friendly and funny, and will give you extra white sauce for no charge. This place had great reviews and I was excited to get my falafel fix for the week. Unfortunately, I really wasn't that impressed. They certainly didn't skimp on the falafel, but my pita bread ended up soaked in tahini. There were barely any other vegetables inside (tomato, lettuce, etc.) and I really missed them. The sandwich was so messy and half of it ended up falling out of my soggy pita and onto my lap. I also just wasn't a fan of the flavor of the falafel. Been eating here for years. It's a neighborhood staple, and it's on the cheap side! If your doing pick up I recommend calling ahead because you can be waiting upwards of 15 min depending on how busy they are. I've never had a problem with the food, my main staples are the chicken kebab sandwhich, and the chicken tenders and French fries. Don't let appearances fool you. I loved the food here. I ordered a Spicy Falafel Pita Sandwich and it was amazing, so yummy. It rivaled the popular place in TriBeCa, Nish Noosh. My boyfriend had the Mediterranean Panini and that was also very tasty, the chicken had a great flavor. We had a side of roasted Cauliflower which was very nice. We topped the meal off with the best Baklava I've had in quite a while (I've been eaten a lot of Baklava in my life). I highly recommend for an easy, delicious meal! read more

I go here a lot to take out dinner. Usually I get a lamb shawarma wrap with hummus, or a tabbouleh wrap with baba ghanoush. The pita they use for the wraps is really delicious - crispy and chewy. The food is nothing out of the ordinary for mid-east food, but still yummy. read more

Sadly i rate this place 2 stars because it used to be better 10 years ago and now it's gone downhill. I say that because I lived in Park Slope when they first opened back then they had real lamb meat chunk shawarma not gyro meat (like what they have now). I live in Oklahoma now but when I came home to the slope I made it a point to go there. Since then whenever I order the shawarma it has been too salty, the falafel texture too gritty (almost like eating a mouth of Metamucil without the water) and the humus and babaganoush have no flavor. This time around I was craving Mediterranean food and give them one last chance hoping something changed unfortunately they reduced the size of their sandwiches from the original wrap style they had when they opened to a pita pocket for more money ( u have to pay a $1 extra for the wrap now) the lamb shawarma is still gyro meat (gyro meat is lamb mixed with other meats not full lamb as advertised) and the babaganoush was swimming in olive oil . It regrets me to say this but I won't be giving pita pan another chance unless Robert Irvine or Gordon Ramsey come in and make improvements. read more

Ok, so I have been there 2x and had the Shwarma sandwich both times. I went right before they were closing. It tasted great both times. Unfortunately, the first time I had severe stomach issues for 24 hours after. I thought "ok, that probably had nothing to do with the food". I went a few months later. The second time I had 4 days straight of stomach issues. I do not normally have these problems so I can not help but to think they are connected. I have yet to have a single dish from Pita Pan that is not delicious. The falafel is not the absolute BEST I have ever had (The best I ever had was at a place called "Green Olive". It closed down a couple years ago due to health and safety violations.), but it is definitely up there and everything else is top quality too. The hummus is good the baba ghanoush is excellent. The eggplant salads and beans salads are excellent. The potato salad doesn't have mayo, which makes it vegan friendly. And the Brussels sprouts are amazing, and I'm not even a fan of Brussels sprouts! haha I honestly have yet to have a dish that did not delight. My friend loved it too. read more
