The shwarma was a bit salty and not the most luscious cuts of meat, but the spits were down towards the end - I would like to try it when the meat was new and fresh. I would give it another shot. I don't know if this place is related to the Pita Plus on Sw 31st, but I really love it. The Falafel is awesome. The Schawma is just slowly rotating, waiting for you on one of those vertical spits...can you smell it? The place is always clean as a whistle. Been here many times and always is great. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is that a Schawma can run about $7, drink and side not included. Edit on 10/16/08 I was in the aera so I dropped in. Great Pita joint on Sterling Rd. Wide open and spacious. Very clean. Gentleman can tell it was my first time and explained everything to me while making it. I was in awe that the shawarma was turkey. As a group of 4 particular & finky eaters, we were impressed with variety and low prices on the menu. We chose the Shwarma Platter, Laffa Shwarma and Club Sandwich Shwarma. I asked for extra crispy Shwarma and we all sat down to enjoy. While we waited, Manny (the owner) served us a falafel sampler (by request) and we tasted the fresh and crisp pickled vegis in the open cart. To say the food was delicious and plentiful is an understatement. The shwarma plate is literally a plate full of shwarma, in addition to the plate of hummus, huge choice of salads (we chose Israeli salad) and pitas. The hummus was fresh, creamy and perfectly cold. The Israeli salad was crisp and fresh. It was obvious that the tomatoes did not suffer the sad fate of having been chopped the day before and left to mushily marinate in old juice, but rather they were firm, cold and fresh. We later discovered that Manny cuts all vegis for the Israeli salad every 30 minutes to ensure firmness. We went with purple cabbage salad, which was crisp and tasty, and the falafels were freshly made as we waited, were warm, crispy outside and deliciously green (parsley?) and flavorful, with a perfectly balanced techina to compliment. The shwarma didnt have fat chunks or rubbery pieces, but was crisp, flavorful, meaty in texture , with a beautiful meat flavor as any self respecting Shwarma establishment could strive for and the pitas were warm and fresh, making a great mop to (literally) clean our plates of all delicious residues to the last drop. Space and seating plentiful with room for many and based on how many people came in & out, we clearly made the right decision to choose Pita Plus. Post meal came with no heartburn or other digestive situations, confirming to our delicate gastronomic systems that the food is fresh, clean, well cooked and a earns the coveted award for the tastiest Shwarma to date. Pita Plus is a real Kosher Gem on Sterling. I ordered a Shawarma Sandwich which is a staple at PP, told by a friend I would never go back, and in fact i'm a fan . Fresh ingredients, Cool service, only thing I would say it might be just be a little pricey. But it makes up for by awesome quality.
