This is the best gelato I've ever had!! The texture was super thick and creamy! I got the Hazelnut and the Pistachio and both were bursting with nutty flavors. The shop is small but clean and the server was very friendly. Located in a very picturesque part of Fells Point right next to the harbor. Minus one star because the prices are kind of insane. $7+ for a small cup that I finished in a couple of bites. But that texture and flavor doe; spot on. read more

Pitango is a great pit stop for a quick dessert. They offer numerous fun and interesting flavors that you can sample. I ordered a half chocolate hazelnut, half cardamom small gelato, which I thought was the perfect combo. It was a Friday night and there wasn't any seating available inside, so I ate while walking around Baltimore Harbor. Service was fantastic, though I wish that the gelato wasn't so expensive. read more

My favorite gelato place. I take my friends and family here all the time when they come visit. Love that Pitango uses local and organic ingredients with milk from grass-fed cows. My fiancée and I celebrated our engagement in Italy back in November and I learned that it's best to go to places where they use stainless steel lids instead of having the gelato exposed because the temperature is better regulated. A lot of the time, without the covers you can see that the gelato is melted. Well, Pitango uses the lids and made me love them even more. The servers are usually pretty nice and willing to provide you with as many samples as you want. My favorite flavors are hazelnut and chocolate hazelnut. It's not a big space, but it doesn't have to be. There's enough seating inside and out for you to enjoy your cup of gelato. We come here all the time and don't plan on stopping. read more

Pitango is a great place to stop for dessert! The inside of the store is really cute and aesthetic, and all of their flavors are amazing. In addition to their gelato flavors, they have a wide range of vegan sorbets! I ordered half-half of their mojito and the white nectarine sorbets. I was pleasantly surprised by how creamy the textures were, especially for the white nectarine sorbet. The flavor in the mojito was delicious, and the mint provided a nice refreshing aspect. While I was there, they also had a small food bar for students, which was amazing to see how much they care about their customers. They had fresh focaccia bread and a variety of meats and cheese to go along with it. Also, students currently get a 15% discount too! read more

I've been coming here for years and realized during my last stop that I've never written a review. Every time I come, there's a new and interesting flavor combo, which is really exciting. I ordered coconut yesterday and it was soo creamy, my boyfriend ordered chocolate chip and chocolate and it was also delicious. $6 or $7 for a single scoop in a cup sounds like it's expensive, but the gelato is rich and filling. Amazing Gelato! There were a lot of flavors to choose from. The staff was really friendly and offered samples. We ended up getting half Pistachio and half Chocolate. They were really rich and creamy. My favorite is the Pistachio! The inside is also really cute. There isn't much seating inside though but there's a nice area to sit at in the plaza outside. read more

a baltimore classic for its gelato i had a wonderful time with friends. service was welcoming and friendly, alllowing for multiple free samples of the flavors and being very generous with the scoops. ambiance was standard, i went on a wednesday night during the winter so of course there isn't a crowd or a bunch of hustle and bustle. if you go i recommend a combination of their fruit and hazelnut flavors for a double scoop! read more

Needed a cool treat after walking in the Baltimore heat, decided to try out Pitango! It's a small store but looks very classy inside. The servers were all so nice and helpful. In an uncharacteristic choice, I opted for a lemon sorbet instead of my usual creamy preference. My friend got the strawberry sorbet. The lemon sorbet was like eating a classic lemon ice. Cool, refreshing, smooth, tangy, it hit all the spots. Had a taste of the strawberry sorbet and you could taste the fresh strawberry throughout. Overall, would definitely come back to try their more classic gelato offerings! read more

Really interesting flavors. Me and my girlfriend ended up getting pistachio, honeydew, mojito, and black tea. Can't go wrong with pistachio but the black tea really surprised me. It tasted like boba milk tea. The honeydew and mojito tastes how you expect it to taste and very refreshing. I overheard one of the workers mentioning to a customer that they don't take cash anymore after they were robbed a couple of times so make sure you have your card on you. I liked the music choice as well and the workers are nice. read more

I loved Pitango Gelato so much that I went 2 days in a row. If I had a third day in town, I would have went again. The pistachio was my favorite but everything I tried was good. I also tried the dark chocolate, crema, hazelnut, and chocolate hazelnut. Flavors can change daily so don't go back hoping a flavor will still be there. Try everything you want that day. I love really soft gelato and this was amazing. read more

Very solid gelato. A lot of reviews are saying it's the best they had but I think it's just a bit above solid, maybe a top 5 I've had but definitely not near the top. It is a bit expensive but the texture is delightfully smooth and creamy. The mojito one is like shaved ice which provided a nice contrast. Overall, an 8.5/10 for me. I thought it was good but I wouldn't really be craving this spot again. read more

Yes, yes, and more yes! Every flavor we ordered was spot on delicious! Full of fruity goodness (in my case) and full of vibrant flavor and color without seeming processed or fake. I've only been the one time, but it was so impressive, that I want to go back again and again! Get the Granny Smith and Pineapple if you dig sorbet! (I mean... get whatever flavor you like, of course... I'm just speaking for the ones I'd tried and that made the biggest impact). Anything you get will undoubtedly be amazing, so let your taste buds guide you. There were four in our group, and everyone raved about it. That has to be a sign, right? Pitango is always a pleasure. I've not had the actual gelato, I usually get sorbet flavors, typically two at a time. The space is cute and quaint, small, but not in a bad way (except maybe now it's a pain because of Covid). There are usually at least 4 sorbet flavors, which is awesome! Most froyo/ice cream spots typically have just one or two. The staff is friendly and competent, and seem to be mostly teen workers. Pitango is clean, and in typical ice cream spot setup, the flavors of gelato are set up in a clear case that separates patrons from employees. Not sure where they are with tasting the gelato at this time, I didn't even attempt it during my most recent visit. I'd rather risk picking a bad flavor than getting some germs from a taste test. My visit this past Saturday was nice. I got a regular cup with 2 flavors: Mango and Passionfruit. The combo was very tasty and I was quite pleased! read more

I love haw Pitango has all these unique flavors that you don't normally find at other ice cream shops, and I love that flavor is so strong when you take a bite at the gelato. I recently got caffe espresso and pistachio and Mmm mm mm the the pistachio flavor was so thick that it felt like the gelato wasn't just flavored, but it literally just tasted like pistachio. Same goes for caffe espresso. I'm excited to try all the flavors from Pitango in the future :) read more

A lot of really fun options here, like mojito, hibiscus, and many others. It's a cool place to try a large variety of flavors. Service was dope, they were both kind and gave us samples to try different flavorz. There is some seating inside but if its full, you can just go outside and there's a lot of benches and open space to sit, chill, relax. It's also close to the water front. Love this place! There are so many options to choose from and the staff is so friendly while you try their flavors. I got the mojito sorbet and my girlfriend got the mix of strawberry sorbet with sicilian almond (I think?) and both were soooo good! My girlfriend normally doesn't get her own dessert but she did this time and finished it all. Highly recommend you come here if you're craving sweets and are in the area! read more

As others have mentioned, the price is pretty steep for how much you get. For two scoops, you shell out about $7. The location and ambiance is nice. There is seating indoors and outdoors (on the benches), but if you can't find immediate seating nearby, there are other outdoor benches around the area. Full disclaimer: I'm a gelato snob so I have pretty high expectations. There are certainly a lot of flavors to choose from and lucky for me, plenty of dairy-free and gluten-free options as well! I wasn't sure if I could sample any of the flavors because I didn't ask. But I was also surprised that no one offered us samples while I was trying to decide between 4 flavors. In the end, we went with the mango sorbet which was really good. The texture and creaminess were fantastic, but again, the portion size, not so much...especially if you plan on sharing with someone else. This would be a cute spot for a date, but you may want to consider getting your own cups because sharing one almost seems silly. I would maybe consider coming back again if I'm in the area, but I don't think it's worth going out of the way for. read more

This is a quaint cafe by the water. The food is rustic and fantastic. It is a must try in my opinion. The sandwiches made on whole made focaccia are to die for. The 2nd day i went I watched the two chefs making the sandwiches and they were treating the process like they were making an expensive branzino dinner. This guy was so happy putting a little of this and a bit of that. The focaccia by itself is good but these sandwiches are a piece of rustic heaven. This place has great food and delicious bakery style cookies. I was really impressed by all of it and the service was really great. This was my first time being introduced to this bakery but I would try all of them if I could. Very good spot. read more

Pair it with gelato from this location and you're in for a treat. 5/5 Flavors | HALVAH AND PISTACHIO This gelato shop has some unique and interesting flavors. The flavors were some that I had never even heard of. I ended up getting the Halvah and Pistachio, which is a 'cream-and-milk' gelato mixed with pistachio nuts. Very tasty compared to previous 'cream-and-milk' gelato's I have tasted before! Definitely stop by and check it out. Be wary, it gets very busy! read more

I came here after a very large dinner that I had just turned down dessert at but because anytime I see gelato I have to stop, this was no exception. A wide variety of flavors and the ability to choose 1-3 depending on the size was incredible. They even let you sample the flavors if you ask. The lady serving us was very kind and patient as I'm sure I seemed like a kid in a candy shop by the limitless options of incredible sounding flavors. I settled on Espresso, Dark Chocolate, and Raspberry. They were perfectly smooth and creamy and all superb. They also have some pastries from their bakery down the road and I got a cookie to go that tasted incredible. read more

We use only organic, grass-fed milk in our gelato. And we source only organic fresh fruit and the finest nuts and chocolates we can find. Pitango Gelato was founded in 2006 by Noah Dan, who fell in love with authentic Italian gelato during childhood summers spent in Trieste, Italy (above). Today the company operates four gelaterie in DC, Maryland and Virginia. The man operates this coffee shop because he just loves doing it. This is like if you walked into a coffee shop in Cuba, Alex used to sell cigars here in the 90s! He's half Spanish and the coffee he makes is delightful! I got a topo Chico and coffee for five dollars which is actually wild! This is definitely not your one of the mill new hipster bougie coffee shop. This is just this man's house where he makes you coffee. Plenty of sitting on the inside, and I usually drink my espresso at the bar!

Simply put, Pitango Gelato offers the highest quality frozen dessert in Fells Point if not all of Baltimore The Food For those who were not aware, Gelato is in fact ice cream but it is the Italian version. Gelato is denser(slow churned, less air whipped into it, less butter fat), its sugar content is about 10% higher than American Ice Cream, and Gelato is stored and served at warmer temperature than Ice Cream(0-10 degrees F.). Put all these factors together and you have a sweeter, bolder, and less fattening ice cream. Pitango's gelato/sorbet is made with organic milk, organic eggs, organic sugar, organic fruit, and finest nuts imported from Italy. Pitango literally puts healthy and delicious into dessert. They avoid harmful additives, preservatives, colorings, chemicals, and other ingredients that isn't food but is allowed by the FDA. They have roughly have over 20 flavors and that includes the sorbet. Just a little advice, their flavor list changes slightly based upon availability because everything is hand made regularly in store. Honestly you won't get any better than Pitango with its purity, flavor, and health. The Drinks Pitango offers traditional Italian espresso served the Italian way(demitasse cups and saucers). You can order a Latte, an Espresso, an Americano, a Macchiato, a Cappuccino, or an Affogato(double shot with a scoop of gelato). Their beans are supplied by Counter Culture Coffee. The espresso is full bodied with a very smooth finish. For $1.50 more, the coffee is experience here makes Starbucks look like McDonalds and your local coffee shop more like a local carry out joint. The Location The shop is small simple, neat, and clean. It has two floor to ceiling window that allows plenty of natural light and it is complimented by well placed track lights. The seating area is small seating around 8-10 people. However, they do have outdoor seating which adds space for about another 6 patrons. If it's packed, don't worry there are plenty of benches in the square across the street and by the water. My favorite part about Pitango is how clean and neat they are. You won't find a cleaner spot in Fells Point. The People The staff here is impressive. They are polite, knowledgeable, and skilled in their craft. Service is consistent even when they have a line of tourists out the door who are rude, discombobulated, inpatient, and demanding. The managers have done a great job pulling together a great team and I hope the current staff stays for a while.... Even the guy in the back who makes the gelato is cool. Over all, Pitango of Fells point is a spot where healthy meets delicious as far as desserts are concerned. Bring your family, date, co-workers, or whomever you like for an incredible snack and a great experience. Never mind the price. Look at the quality of your food. It's almost all organic and scrutinizing time and effort went into its making. On top of that, Pitango is a small locally owned business, so slightly higher prices are expected. In this world you get what you pay for and Pitango delivers. read more

Pitango is one of my favorite spots to frequent in Baltimore. They have the best gelato in the city and can probably hold their own against many gelato stores elsewhere. Everything is fresh and organic. My favorites are the concord grape sorbet, quince sorbet, cantaloupe sorbet, pistachio gelato, and matcha green tea gelato. Their spicy chocolate gelato is pretty awesome too. The flavors can run from very prominent (like pistachio) to very subtle (like crema) but this is because they don't add artificial flavors to boost the taste. They serve hot chocolate during the colder months and its very thick. It's more European style than American style. If you like chocolate, you ought to give it a try. Price is a little on the high side but should be expected given that it uses organic and often local ingredients. And the taste is still worth the money in my opinion. You can also order a half pint and a pint if you want to take some home with you. Just have it thaw for about 30 minutes before serving to give it the right consistency. Lastly, I dont know if they still offer it or not, but they used to make a gelato ice cream cake if you asked them. I don't know how much it costs though. read more

Not that they need more promotion but this has to be the best frozen custard place around. Many come from far areas knowing this. The area itself has those eating inside and out and just hanging out at a community. Not uncommon to see the kids eating on the benches out front I HEAR THEM TALK ABOUT THE AQUARIUM so cute. Dogs, kids and people just mingling, eating and enjoying. They often have special flavors of the week and have other items as well - but we go there just for the vanilla frozen custard. Sometimes simple is best! You can get containers to go and take home as well. For those nights you just don't want to drive out. If you see a line out the door - this is standard. Just know that they take good care of you, move it along and that the process is one worth the wait. This is the best ice cream you will every have in your entire life! I have some friends that live in baltimore and my husband and I stayed there for three days. Each day we were there I had to go to Pitango because it is just so heavenly. You will never taste anything as good, fresh, cool, delicious etc. If I lived there I would be in big trouble because I would literally go there everyday until I died. Everyone is really nice and will even strike up a convo with you and they are always smiling. It is kind of a retro style place to me but also modern which is very attractive. They have tall chairs as well as tables. They have a wide variety of flavors... Call me plain jane but I got vanilla bean. .
