I love the black tea gelato flavor and the passion fruit sorbet. The black tea flavor had really nice aroma to it and was creamy and delicious. The sorbet was tart and refreshing. I asked to get my flavors and separate cups and they filled both to the top, though I believe it might've been 2 kid sized cups to equal one regular size cup. Not sure how the math works out. The only not so great news is for the amount that you get, the price is steep. It's 2 scoops for $6.50 (with tax). I forget how much 3 scoops costs. When I paid, the cashier said to tip however much makes me happy - not going to lie, felt like they were subtly pushing for customers to tip them by saying that, a little uncomfortable. read more

Delish. Gelato! I have high expectations since eating all the gelato I could get in Italy. This place was just as good as the gelato in Italy! I understand it's a chain and was so glad my friend recommended us going here after lunch. The gelato is pricey for 6$+ for a regular cup but I felt like I got a lot. This was such a lovely gelato spot. There was a line outside, and I understand why. It's a perfect treat on a sunny day and you can take your ice cream and eat it as you walk along the water. Pitango Gelato is a small chain that specializes in gelato and sorbet. This particular location can be found at the Fells Point Waterfront District, a few doors down from Insomia Cookie (another chain to delight your sweet tooth). Parking can be rather challenging in this large waterfront plaza, but well worth coming here for a visit, especially on a hot day for some frozen treats. My husband and I, along with our little girl dog, came by this location with a good childhood friend of mine (she was the one that highly recommended that we come here after our dinner for dessert) on Monday evening. We arrived around 7:55 pm and had only a few people in front of us. Since this was my first time here, I asked to try the banana gelato. I wasn't a fan of this flavor, as it just didn't have that strong banana taste. It was very subtle. After I had tried both the black tea and fior da latte, I just knew these were the flavors I was going to get. So at the register, I ended up getting: Fior Da Latte & Black Tea, Small Size, $6.25 After Tax- The fior da latte is a vanilla flavored gelato but hardly plain and boring. This gelato is the basis for their vanilla chocolate chip gelato by the way, as I was informed by the girl helping me behind the counter. Loved the creaminess of the fior da latte and simple, clean flavor. The black tea tasted just like black tea and really paired well with the fior da latte. It was like having a milk tea in gelato form. The black tea had a nice bold flavor but not being overly sweet. Cardamon & Mango Sorbet, Small Size, $6.25 After Tax- My husband was outside with our little pup (there are some benches outside) and just knew what flavors he wanted without needing to taste them (that is just the type of person he is and very easy going in general. Lucky me). The cardamon was really strong and wasn't really to my liking but my husband really liked it and thought it was perfect. The mango sorbet was very refreshing and think it paired well with the strong flavors of the cardamon to help balance it out. ----------------------------- (Total= $12.50 after tax) The employee helping me, behind the counter, was friendly and helpful in providing samples and answering the few questions that I had. I liked that she was patient with me as I was still trying to make up my mind (sometimes when there are too many choices, it makes it just that much harder to decide what to pick). I think the gelato is a bit pricey for the size, but that seems to be the going rate around here. Dropped in for a sweet end to a double date night and was very delighted with the quality of gelato. This was my first time, so I loved that I was able to try a few flavors before deciding which one I wanted. I also loved that I was able to mix two flavors when I wasn't able to decide between chocolate hazelnut and vanilla chocolate chop. I order a regular sized cup, which seemed a bit small at first glance, but it was loaded up and definitely enough to leave me feeling satisfied. There were some tables and chairs inside to grab a seat, and even better benches outside when the night is nice. The prices are a bit high, but I feel it matched the quality, so I can't wait to come back and try some other flavors. P.S. The staff here is so kind, they have a really open space but few tables. The gelato is delicious however a regular (smallest size available) is a $7.50 which is a bit pricey for me. The location is ideal and they are open later on the weekends which a bonus. read more

Great location in Fell's point. I wanted to like this place more due to its popularity, but the gelato was honestly just okay. There is a wide assortment of flavors that made me extremely excited to try this place plastered over the walls. I opted for the earl grey as well as pistachio flavors. The gelato was pretty pricey (almost $8) for a very very tiny container (comes out to less than one scoop of ice cream and the gelato sits quite flat in it). The flavors were okay (nothing out of this world), but I was disappointed in how quickly it would have melted (I understand the consistency of gelato is softer, but I have just had better). They have a great selection for lactose-tolerating/"I'm lactose intolerant and pretend not to care" and lactose intolerant folks. My friends and I tried a few different flavors. There aren't many places to sit so that might be a problem if you go in a big group or when the place is crowded. There's three steps you need to walk into the shop(not wheel chair accessible. ) The gelato is very delicious . Very creamy and has a great texture. Tastes like the real gelato I had in Italy ! I had the regular sized dark chocolate gelato in a cup. The price is pretty expensive considering how small the cup size is. Most people's critique is the price, however the majority of other ice cream shops in Baltimore will be around the same price for a cone and not nearly as good as Pitango.
