I've driven past Pitas many times and always wanted to stop. Today after enjoying the local kids museum, we decided to give it a try and we were glad we did. As we pulled into the parking lot, we noticed that it was packed with cars, always a good sign. Pitas is isn't much to look at inside and out, but there were plenty of tables available, and we were greeted cheerfully and given the option to sit just about anywhere we wanted. Water service was prompt as well as the order service. All the servers were pleasant and accommodating. I love Mediterranean themed food, and we started out with a baba ghanoush. Absolutely delicious. Just the right amount of garlic and very fresh tasting, as were the accompanying pitas. My wife and I split a vegetarian wrap with falafel and tzatziki sauce. I got a side of seasoned fries, which were not as hot as I'd like them but again we were sharing with the 18 month old so that that's OK! Our daughter got a shrimp platter and gave it the thumbs up! Our young grandson had a kid's Pizza. It looked great. I don't think he ate much but his mom did!

The food was excellent! Lots of it. Service was very attentive and super polite. Atmosphere is nice. Only reason I'm giving them four stars is because the bathroom did not have any paper towels to dry my hands.

Always delicious authentic food and great service. We drive from Lexington after work to Taylor St. for a great week night meal.

Pitas is my favorite lunch time spot! It's usually very busy with the lunch time traffic, but the service is very quick and pleasant. My go to is the blackened salmon plate. It's really good! It's a really nice lunch time vibe that I enjoy pretty often. They also have pistachio baklava which is amazing!

It's a beautiful day in Carolina ... Was downtown getting me windows tinted and decided to try Pitas. Always passed it but never stopped in. Upon entering I was greeted with a smile and excitement. The music gave a real vibe so that was a plus .... I'm currently on a no meat cleanse .. so I started with A green tea with honey ... For me meal I ordered the veggie wrap with the Tzatziki sauce ... The broussel sprouts were cooked perfectly but needed a little salt to my liking ... the wrap was prepared to perfection ... but there was ALOT of lettuce ... I had a mini salad left over other than the lettuce there was spinach , cucumbers, parsley , red onions , tomatoes bell peppers, and pepperoncini ..... overall a good lite meal to start the day will def be back. S/O to the amazing staff .... Side note this green tea with the honey and lemon was BOMB

Pita's is always a good lunch spot! The food is always fresh and the staff is always so sweet & helpful. We tried the Gyro Platter (8/10) and the Bacon & Shrimp Wrap with sweet potato fries. (9/10) the fries could have been a little crispier and the Greek salad could have been dressed a little more but we both cleaned our plates! The restaurant is always clean and provides plenty of seating. It is usually a packed place during lunch time! Look forward to trying more from here.

This is my second time trying Pita's. I love that it was pretty spacious and a lot of seating. Customer service was great too! The food is just okay to me though. Everyone says it's great. My fiancé said his burger was amazing. My coworker friends all loved their food. I ordered the gyro with added chicken and feta with a side of fries. It just didn't come together for me taste and flavor wise. It was lacking for me, however, it was not gross or terrible. Also, now that I am thinking about it, maybe it was the pita bread that was not for me as well. It was a bit doughy. Again, I wasn't impressed to where I would ever go on my own. However, if it is suggested again I will go and I guess try a different wrap or platter. I forgot to grab a pic of my gyro.

This is the best food in Columbia. If you like Greek/Mediterranean food and haven't been here yet, run don't walk. Service is amazing too and employees are so nice. I'm about to move out of Columbia and this restaurant is one of the things I will miss most about this city. Gyro platter + baklava are chef's kiss. Also my favorite tzaziki of any I've had. I love you pita's!!!!

I went at lunch, and it was busy; however, the service was welcoming. Again, it was a feeling of comfort and nostalgia. The menu looked like it had a lot of good options. We ordered the salmon special, which came with rice and a green salad. The food didn't take too long at all. Everything looked fresh. It almost took me on a mental trip back to Greece and how fresh those ingredients were. I should have captured the after picture of the plate. I ate every drop. Everything was so delicious, from the salad to the rice with the juices and sauce from the salmon seeping throughout. The salmon was so delicious. It was like grilled yet cooked to perfection and full of flavor and extremely tasty. Even my lunch partner enjoyed every last drop of their food. Needless to say, I'll be back to enjoy more. Also, the prices were pretty decent for the portion. I was very pleased.

We tried to enter, but the door was locked. After a few mins. we tried again. Still locked. There is a table with chairs outside, so we sat and proceeded to wait. A few minutes later, the waiter (there was only 1), told us he hadn't bothered to open the door as the chef had not arrived yet. We said it wasn't a problem as we were not in a hurry and we could spend the time having something to drink (iced tea) and perusing the menu. After the chef finally arrived and we could order, we ordered the Dolmadaki to share and two entrees that came with salads. We told the waiter that we would order dessert after dinner. The waiter eventually brought out the salads. Nothing special, but very overdressed. He then brought out the entrees. (In between his service, he spent a lot of time looking at himself and fixing his hair in a mirror on the wall in this small dining room.) My chicken souvlaki was very dry, served in large lumps that were difficult to cut. Potatoes were ok. My husbands beef kabob was flavorless, and his red lentils also lacked flavor. At this point we were still the only patrons and Andrew was the only waiter. He then came over, and asked if we were ready for the check. We informed him that we each wanted to order baklava and that he needed to make sure that our check did not include the Dolmadaki which we never received. He acted surprised that we hadn't received the appetizer, in spite of the fact that we were the only patrons and he was the only waiter. He went back to the kitchen and when he returned he told us that they only had 1 baklava as the chef didn't bake any that day. We requested our check instead. He proceeded to say that the Dolmadaki would be out shortly, at which point we informed him that we did not want them as they were to be our appetizer, not something we wanted to eat after dinner. When he finally brought the check, I needed to ask him to remove the used dinner plates so that I could deal with the check. While I was very tempted not to leave any, left a very meager 12% tip that day. Due to all of the above (and the fact that the only bathroom had an overflowing trash bin, no hand sanitizer in the dispenser, and could have used a good general cleaning) we cannot in good conscience recommend this restaurant. It was also interesting to note that when we left there were still no other patrons, but the restaurant next door was booming. Next time we'll try there.

I am extremely disappointed with the service and hospitality our group received at this restaurant…read more This past weekend, we reserved a private dinner for approximately 31 adults to celebrate a 50th birthday. Upon arrival, the restaurant itself appeared beautiful, and our group was seated in a private dining room with water already placed on the tables. Unfortunately, the level of service that followed did not match the atmosphere or the upscale prices we paid. Our entire party appeared to have only one server, whom I later learned was named Sarah. She did not introduce herself, welcome the group, explain how dinner service would work, or tell us what was being served. We were divided among four tables, which already made communicating our needs more difficult. A fifth table was designated as the "food table," where we were expected to serve ourselves both appetizers and entrées. I have attended many group dinners and celebrations, and I have never experienced this type of setup at a restaurant presenting itself as an upscale establishment. The process felt disorganized and lacked the level of hospitality we expected. If guests are paying upscale prices, the service should reflect an upscale dining experience. One of the most concerning moments occurred when it was time to serve the birthday cake. As our dinner plates were being cleared, we expected to receive clean forks for dessert. Instead, Sarah told us that the restaurant was "short on forks" because she believed people were stealing them, and we were told to keep our dinner forks to use for cake. This explanation was both surprising and inappropriate. I later encountered the chef and asked him directly about the restaurant being short on forks. He appeared genuinely confused, told me there was no shortage that he was aware of, and immediately asked whether we needed clean forks. After I explained what we had been told, he brought our group clean forks. That interaction was especially troubling because it left me questioning why our server gave us an explanation that the chef himself did not recognize as true. As a group of predominantly Black guests, the inconsistency in what we were told and the overall way our party was treated unfortunately left some of us wondering whether we were being treated differently because of our race. I do not make that statement lightly, but the experience made the concern difficult to ignore. As for the food itself, it was okay overall, although several items were a bit too salty for our taste. There were also significant issues with the amount of food provided. We initially ordered based on the quantity recommended for our group size when making the reservation, yet we ran out of food during dinner. We then had to wait nearly an hour for additional food to be prepared. After that lengthy wait, we were ultimately unable to take the remaining food with us, despite the amount of money our group had paid. For what we spent on this celebration, the quality of service simply did not justify the cost. This was an important 50th birthday gathering, and several members of our party were veterans. It was disappointing to see our guests receive this level of service during what should have been a special and memorable evening. A beautiful restaurant and upscale pricing are only part of the dining experience. Hospitality, organization, communication, professionalism, and the way guests are made to feel matter just as much. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously and provides additional hospitality and professionalism training to its staff, particularly regarding large private parties. This restaurant has the potential to provide a wonderful experience, but our group unfortunately did not receive one.
