    Burrita
    Amy M.

It's fourth of July weekend and that means fireworks and food trucks. Well that was the case for the hubs and I. Covid restrictions have decreased to the point where gatherings are encouraged after vaccinations, and holidays can finally be celebrated with loved ones. My better half and I headed out to Smithfield 4 hours in advance to park our car. We hoped for a good spot as it was first come and first serve to view the firework show. Since we had hours to burn, we walked over to the trucks. The hubs gravitated to Pitt Country Barbeque and I to Black Pearl. I noticed the lines were long, but it was impressive to see how fast both food trucks were working to accommodate the masses. The hubs ordered the "Burrita" a 14 inch burrito loaded with mac and cheese, choice of smoked meat brisket or pork or both. Then it is drizzled with fireball whiskey sauce, and wrapped in what they said on their menu "warm deliciousness." He opted for pork, paid, and then gave his name for when his order was ready. Not even 5-10 minutes with a long line at their truck, his name was called and a gentleman exited the truck to walk over, and hand over the burrita. That A+ customer service!!! I was still waiting on my food from the other truck. Once we got back to our car, I immediately opened the Burrita to take pictures. My hubs had the first few bites before handing it over to me. Let me just say that pork was damn juicy, fall apart moist, tender and oh my gosh just let me at this Burrita!! The smoked mac and cheese was genius to pair with. It was cheesy, and I loved it in addition to the pork. The drizzle of whiskey sauce was perfect and enough to appreciate. The tortilla used was warm, and great to eat on the go. I believe this is a new food truck on the scene. I recommend looking for them on Facebook and Instagram. I hear they do catering so that's great for celebrations or even lunch. Look forward to eating at Pitt Country Barbeque again!! Check them out if you hadn't already

This visit was pretty cool! I believe this place opened up a little over a month ago or maybe…read moreless. But they are still brand new in my eyes. The inside of the place isn't fully developed, whereas they are sitting up the left side to sell ice cream super soon. I heard about this place via Facebook last week and visited two Sundays ago to find out they do not open on Sundays. A matter of fact, they are closed Sunday, Monday AND Tuesday! So yeah...be mindful of the hours of operation. I believe I posted the hours via photo. Coincidentally, I visited on April 9th and promised my daughter we will revisit during next weekend. We ventured out to Bennett's Creek Park on this past Saturday and to our surprise we saw the pink truck parked on the grassland - passing out free Italian ice for the patrons. So yeah, this business is mobile as well. So book them! It wasn't until I asked for a business card (flier posted in the photos) and saw that this is the place we attempted to visit the Sunday before...awwwwe!!! So needless to say, we had a preview of the Mango ice on Saturday - yummy! My daughter sampled the cherry and she said it was yummy too. They had samples for everyone and most had seconds! Super duper exposure for them and the ice was good and refreshing! So here we are on Saturday (last Saturday) to try a funnel cake. A powdered sugar funnel cake is $5 - flat! No taxes!! Whuuuuuut!!! That was a pleasant surprise. We were the only customers inside, but shortly after two others walked in and placed orders. They not only sell desserts but food too! I'm looking forward to trying a burger soon :) In about five minutes or less, the funnel cake was ready - made fresh! My daughter and her friend enjoyed it! I took three bites to see how I liked it - it's good. While not the best I've had, but it's worth $5. And looking at the funnel cake it looks as though you have two in one box. So you may want to share rather than try to eat the entire cake - share the calories! While we only wanted sugar on our funnel cake, they offer toppings as well. Check out the menu - picture posted! All in all, T'z has potential! While it's super early, this addition to Portsmouth should be hot on the scene soon, especially with the weather heating up. Be mindful of the parking. While there are about a handful of spaces in front of the restaurant. As business booms, parking may become an issue. But for now, no worries. Looks like she will be set up soon to host parties too. This will be cute, an ice cream parlor scene...I can see it now! I hope she does well in months to come. Support local businesses! Have fun and enjoy life!

Worth the $7.50 we paid? Not at all. Idk when they made our cakes, but they didn't taste fresh. We also ordered tenders, wings, and fries. The tenders were a bit dry in my opinion and husband thought the wings weren't meaty enough. The fries were thick cut - quite bland - but had potential. Overall, this place was overpriced for just okay food. We won't be back.

When I got there it was a short wait. They give you a buzzer to let you know when your food is ready. They had a limited menu with the fish sandwich, bang bang shrimp, chicken tenders, crinkle fries, potato salad, and chips. The fish sandwich was $19 with the fries and house sauce. The fries were a little limited. I wish we got a few more. They were good. The fish looked tasty, and crispy. It had 2 pieces of fish on it, and the bread was soft. The piece I ate right away was good. But the leftovers weren't the same. The fish has skin on it, so it got soggy and had the fishiest taste. I felt like I licked a piece of fish right out the pond. So I highly recommend not saving leftovers!! The sides are $5 a piece. The customer service was ok, but she was a little busy. So it wasn't much of and interaction. I'd probably go back to try the shrimp because I did like the house made sauce. It was a decent meal when it was fresh. Check them out!!

Their food is out of this world heavenly. My personal fav is the Korean BBQ bowl! That fried egg on top is The Lumpia is also cooked perfectly and delicious with their dipping sauce. Don't even get me started on the funnel cake fries though. Highly recommend LuvABowls. Not only is their food amazing but the owners and staff are incredibly kind people! 12/10!

When I opened it I thought they gave it to me by mistake because it looked like someone already ate it (no I haven't touched it yet in this picture!). We went back to the food truck to ask if this was a mistake and they said no. The dish was supposed to come with an egg too but they ran out and still charged full price. The food was cold and overall just ok. Definitely not worth the price in my opinion. The rest of their food items on the menu sounded good, but if they are anything like the portion we got in this picture, I'm not sure I'd want to spend my money to try the others. The flavor was ok but would have been more enjoyable if they warmed the food and gave us a little bit more. I didn't get a chance to take a picture of the food truck but it's green with king Neptune on it. Cute, but I hoped a bit more from this place.
