    Pup cups!

Outstanding BBQ Experience! I had the pleasure of trying the kielbasa sausage, pulled pork, and brisket, and I was blown away! The pulled pork was hands-down the best I've ever had--perfectly moist and packed with flavor. The kielbasa sausage tasted natural and had that homemade touch, while the brisket, though on the leaner side, didn't skimp on flavor. To top it all off, they even offer pup cups, which is such a thoughtful touch for dog owners. Can't wait to come back!

There are so many reviews that drew me to suggest to my beau to drop by. The ambiance is friendly and cozy. There's enough seating for groups of people. Service was fast. Thought food needed more seasoning, 3 stars for sure.

First the good. Service was fast and extremely friendly. Great selection of proteins. Brisket had a nice bark and was tender. The bad. Although everything was tender, there was hardly any smoke flavor. The meats were warm and not hot and the bananas in the banana pudding were very brown. It shouldn't have been served. Not a bad place at all. I just wouldn't make the drive for it. In my opinion, Redwood Smoke Shack is way better.

Stopped in after wanting to try Pungo Boys for a while. I opted for the taco special with all the fixings--a couple of brisket and pork, cheddar cheese, slaw, sour cream, and avocado slices with a side of hushpuppies. Their hot BBQ sauce wasn't spicy at all but had good flavor. Everyone was super friendly, with plenty of parking and seating inside. My takeaway looked and smelled so amazing I decided to eat it right there. The pulled pork was great, and I enjoyed the slaw. The brisket left something to be desired; it lacked flavor. I'll give their brisket another chance next time, as consistency is so subjective. The hushpuppies were OK - next time, I'll try another side. Pungo Boys' pork BBQ beats Dave's. However, Dave's brisket is far superior. I will visit again soon and update my review.

We decided we needed to try some bbq during our short stay in Virginia. We stumbled upon Pungo Boys and gave them a try. They are located in a strip mall in the corner. You walk right into the counter where you have the menu and order. You seat yourself and collect your food when they call your name. The pulled pork was juicy and flavorful and I tried all of the table sauces, but to be honest, the best one was their Souse Sauce which was basically vinegar and spices. It was tangy and delicious and packed so much more flavor than you'd think it would. The sandwiches come with a side of coleslaw that was fresh and crisp and also more on the vinegar side of things. It's definitely a different genre of BBQ than we get in Kansas City, but I loved it.

It was a nice sunny day and found myself going for a leisure drive down to Pungo. I came across Pungo Boys BBQ and stopped in for some late lunch. I ordered one of their specials Brisket Mac & Cheese. It was delicious! Brisket tender, Mac & Cheese creamy and cheesy. It was a nice portion where I got to take half to go. The establishment was clean and well kept. The staff were polite and friendly. When we got there, they were already selling out so that's a good sign. If I'm in the area, I would go back.

One of the best meal I ever had! Fast and friendly service. We ordered pulled pork brisket and ribs it hit the spot!

We've had this on our list for quite some time but just haven't been able to check it out until today. So glad we tried this BBQ it is definitely the best in the area. We got the platter which had brisket, pulled pork and pork ribs, it also came with 2 sides and we got the collard greens with potato salad. All the meats were tender and had a lot of flavor. We did also try all the bbq sauces that was on the tables and our favorite was the fire. It had a little kick but lots of flavor, it was delicious. They do also have a kids menu. My daughter got the pulled chicken with a side of mac and cheese she loved everything and actually wanted more mac and cheese. The staff was very friendly. Once we walked in we were greeted. There was also lots of tables available to sit down and enjoy if you don't do take out. While we were eating they walked around and greeted the customers and asked how everything was. We will definitely be back here. I read on other reviews that they do have beef ribs on Friday so we want to try that next time. Be sure to check this local restaurant out!! You will NOT be disappointed!!!!

Pungo Boys BBQ is a local BBQ spot, found in a small little plaza off of Princess Anne Road. Note that this place closes once the BBQ runs out! Their menu is pretty extensive, offering various soups, sandwiches, platters, sides, kid options, specials of the day, as well as catering options. We came here for an early lunch, and we had the following: +Smoked Beef Brisket (Texas Style Chopped or Sliced, we opted for the latter); this was pretty lean, but I felt that it was a little dried out; better with the sauces available +Pulled Pork - the pulled pork was smokey; the hubs thought it was just okay and slightly on the bland side +the Beef Short Ribs Special (came with two) - definitely the favorite out of them all - the beef was super tender, fall-off-the-bone deliciousness, and had a great taste to it; no need for any type of sauces for this! We were also surprised at how meaty and generous the portions were +Mac & Cheese with Smoked Andouille Sausage +Five Amigos BBQ Baked Beans +Red Skinned Potato Salad +Creamy Cole Slaw The sides were just okay, the highlight was definitely the short ribs! Staff were super friendly and welcoming. There is limited seating inside, as this is a smaller place, but there were also a couple of tables outside as well; most seem to get their orders to-go. Plenty of parking in the shared plaza lot. +Beef Short Ribs special! +friendly staff! +limited inside/outside seating +parking in shared plaza lot

The food was great! Bbq was Smokey and Tim - and the hush puppies were the best! Fountain sodas or at least ice would have made it perfect!

Great food but even better people. In between orders the staff sang happy birthday to one of their crew, it was cool.

BBQ at its best. Generous size servings. The pork & brisket combo sandwich is a great example of what bbq should taste like.

You would never suspect the great atmosphere of this venue from the location. But the charm of the place really isn't the story. This is the kind of place that offers a gastro pub menu and they do not disappoint with a familiar yet unique menu offering some truly great dishes and perhaps the best burgers in VB. Definitely coming back.

We came here for Valentine's Day with a reservation for three (2 adults and a child). We were…read moregreeted warmly and seated right away, which was impressive given how busy it was. Our first table ended up being under a spotlight that was directly in our line of sight (it looked like it was meant for the specials board), so we asked to move. Staff was accommodating and got us to a better table quickly. The space itself is really nice. It was clean, rustically decorated, and the live plants in liquor bottles on the tables are a nice touch. Our server was friendly from the start and took drink orders right away. My daughter and I had sodas, and my husband ordered the Southern Charm Old Fashioned off the specials menu, which he enjoyed. The menu is on the smaller side, which we actually like. One unique detail was the option to "buy a round for the kitchen," which we thought was a really nice touch and decided to add it when we ordered our appetizer. We started with the fried deviled eggs after a friend recommended them. They were creative with three styles (classic with pickle, togarashi ginger, and crispy prosciutto), but overall a bit on the dry side and not as flavorful as we expected. We asked for Dijon, but they don't have it. Our server suggested and brought out the Baja dipping sauce instead, which did pair well and kind of improved them. My husband had the fish and chips and really enjoyed it. He said the fish was flaky and well cooked. I ordered the Union grilled cheese, which unfortunately seemed like it had been sitting a bit before being served, as the bottom was soggy. It was just okay overall and not particularly memorable for the price. The sweet potato fries on the side were the clear standout. They were crispy, the perfect balance of sweet and salty and honestly the best part of the dish. Our daughter had the kid's smashburger. It was exactly that. Service throughout the meal was good. She was friendly, attentive without being overbearing, and there when needed. The main disappointment came at the end. When our meals were served, the server actually offered sauces at the table (ketchup, mayo, ranch, etc.), and specifically suggested items like the baja sauce for the eggs and ranch to us. Because of that, we were surprised to see several charges for the sauces on the bill, especially since they were offered and recommended at the table with no mention of any additional cost. We were also charged a credit card fee, with no signage anywhere (entrance, hostess stand, or menu) indicating that paying with a card would include an extra charge. It just left an unnecessary sour note on an otherwise solid, casual meal. Nothing was bad, and nothing really stood out as exceptional, but the lack of transparency around those final charges really impacted the overall experience for us.

The ambiance was nice, the open kitchen with the wood fire hearth right at the entrance added a warm cozy feel from the onset. The restaurant was warmly lit but not dark. We were seated immediately in the far left dining area in an elevated booth. After reviewing the menu we settled on the fried deviled eggs and wood fire oysters for starters and the Vincent Vega pizza for dinner. Fried deviled eggs was a first for us and it was so good! The egg white was breaded very lightly and fried and the egg yolk was piped on top with a piece of smoky delicious bacon goodness. It had a nice smoky, bacon-y taste and we devoured them. I only wish you got more than 2 pieces. I think 4 pieces would be better for the price considering it's essentially one egg but I'm not complaining. The wood fire oysters was another hit for us, the serving came with 6 half shell oysters topped with breadcrumbs (light), swimming in butter and fire roasted. I think we ate these even faster than the deviled eggs lol! Would definitely get these again. The pizza also did not disappoint. If you like bacon, mushrooms and creamy Boursin cheese, you'll love this pizza. We added crushed red pepper flakes which added a nice kick. The crust is the star of the show; thin, crispy but still has body and slightly chewy. Yum! That wood fire hearth definitely makes a difference. Overall we had a great experience and will definitely be back! The staff were also very nice and friendly.

The pickled garlic was an excellent addition to the board and the elk salami was fantastic. I had the steak sammy, which was a Sunday Special. It should be on the menu all the time. It was excellent. My son had the steak sammy (like father like son) and his wife had the half chicken. It was all spectacular. So very good. For dessert we shared the cheesecake and the tiramisu bread pudding between the four of us. Everyone was happy. The portions were large so to go boxes were had by all.
