I was so disappointed with this place. I got my favorite type of pork rib. St Louis. And they were tough! And one of them had grill marks on the side. Which tells me that they were probably cut, then warm up on a grill individually. Service was also subpar. Several parts of our meal were forgotten and we had to flag the waitress down for refills. This place was supposed to be really good. But I'm coming from working behind the scene at this place. The other servers are sweet and respectful. But the head honcho and his snarky wife are the issue. They treat their employees like crap. I ended up quitting because of the bosses wife because she thinks she can get away with anything and everything! I will not stand for a business like that. They don't give you breaks. You are always on your feet and if the entire restaurant isn't finished, servers and kitchen are not allowed to go home. I was supposed to be off work at 7 the other night and they didn't let me leave until 10:30 pm that's 3 and 1/2 hours more than I was supposed to and then they made me open the next day. This place needs some help. Also don't eat the salads because they just cut off the mold and nasty chunks and then cut the rest up and serve it to people. I saw someone on here taking about the St. Louis ribs and that person is correct that is how they make them. They also just had a serve get arrested for doing C@ke in the bathroom not too long ago off of the toilet seat. They need to do better. I don't recommend this place. read more

My wife and I have been frequenting this neighborhood restaurant for many years. The quality of the restaurant and its food has always been good. The staff have always been nice. It has been nice to see that the business do so well considering the number of businesses that have inhabited that particular space over the past 20 years.  The prices however, have more than doubled in the past six years. Perhaps that is typical of all restaurants but enough is enough.  For the same 2 burgers and fries, we now pay more than double what we paid in 2020 and now one of us doesn't even order a drink like we used to. When paying the bill yesterday, I noticed that now I'm even being charged for the courtesy of utilizing my credit card. No one carries cash. We'll now have to seriously evaluate whether or not returning to this restaurant.  Enough is enough! read more

A group I am a member of had a yearly meeting Thursday evening. It was catered by Rib City and Eric. We had roughly 60 people in attendance. Before the food line was open, I could smell delicious Mac and cheese. I couldn't wait to get in line and see what they were serving. I chose the BBQ with no bun, Mac n cheese, Cole slaw on top of the BBQ, and some green beans. I had a full plate. They did not skimp and both gentlemen were very nice and made sure you got what you wanted. They also had baked beans and small rolls with butter for those interested. Plus they had several of their own bottled sauces and Tabasco. Our table sat down together and started eating. I don't normally eat a lot at dinner time but I have to confess...my partner cleared his plate and I ate every bit of mine. Every single bite was delicious. No one at the table had anything negative to say at all. They also had take out containers available for those who wished to take go thru the buffet line and get some food to take home. Ok I just ordered a quick meal to my house. Rack and half with corn on the cob and mac and cheese on the side. It came with Texas toast too. Everything g was a 8-9 out of ten conservatively. Ribs had a little char on it but tender and not too saucy. Sauce had some twang to it. They gave me two extra for dipping and one was enough. It is very sweet and flavorful. Meat was tender and juicy. Mac and cheese had thick curly noodles and the cheese was thick and creamy. I think it was white sauce I'm not sure but it was goood. My daughter ate it all so you may want to get a full serving because the side was only good enough for 1 person. And the corn was a half cob but sweet. I put some homemade butter on it instinctively and it was a hit. Bread was crispy and buttered down. I could eat 3 on my own. Next time ordering a whole loaf of that lol. Ok all in all it was great and the best ribs I have had in the city so far besides maybe redwood smoke shack. But the sauce here was better so.... Rib city wins. Happened upon this place by accident. Was headed to Maggiano's, but had shared with my friend that I wanted some ribs. So as we're driving, we rode right past "rib city." Long story short, we decided to turn around and eat there. SO glad we did. Ambience is pretty basic, but apropos for the demographic, the "theme" and the food. I have absolutely no complaints as it pertains to the food. No complaints as a pertains to service. No complaints as a pertains to really anything here. The food was great. The service was wonderful. I selected the pick three with light chicken, dark chicken, and baby back ribs (best in VB), with baked beans and fries on the side. #dateyourwifewednesday took us to Rib City, considering a friend of mine posted about their first trip there about a week or so ago and how much they liked it. My verdict: I'd give them 3.5 stars but since yelp doesn't do half stars, they are stuck with 3. Let's talk about it... The Good: I found the sliced smoked pork in my sandwich and the pulled pork that my wife ordered to be good, even without barbeque sauce. My wife thought her pulled pork was slightly dry but I thought it was fine. Adding the sauces (sweet, tangy, or hot) made it better for sure, but I thought the meat was cooked well and could stand on it's own. That's a plus! Another HUGE plus was the prices!! Both our lunches (minus the $1.29 upcharge for sweet potatoes fries) were less than $9. My sandwich combo (sandwich and one signature side) was only $7.99 and my wife's lunch special (1 choice of meat and 2 signature sides) was only $8.99. Our total bill was just over $20, which is great for the amount of food we received. The Bad: Well, I personally don't care for large macaroni noodles in my Mac and Cheese because they tend to be less creamy, which it was. The Mac and cheese was just average. Not bad, but not great. The green beans were slightly better, so I'd say a little better than average. Again, not bad, but not great. The sweet potatoe fries, again, were average - not bad at all, but nothing to "write home" about. Also, the restaurant itself could use a facelift. The building has gone through several hands (I think) over the last few years or so, and a true facelift would make the place look more appealing, which honestly it's why it took me so long to try them out. The look of the place doesn't give you an "amazing food inside" kinda vibes. Even the inside could use some love. For example, in the Men's room, there is an old looking inoperable push button hand dryer. It's built into the wall, and even has signs of rust. Instead of removing it (I honestly don't know how difficult or expensive it would be for them to do) or replacing it, a paper towel dispenser was installed directly above it. To me, that just makes the place feel a little "cheap." All in all, I would go back because the meat was good and the price was on point. I'd just try some different sides, like maybe their cole slaw or baked beans. I'd say, for the price, if you like barbeque, it's definitely worth trying for yourself. The baby back ribs were completely overcooked and ridiculously small!! You can't find baby back ribs as small as they sell them in a grocery store. Was skeptical about this place for the past 5 years. Never saw any cars outside and honestly thought it was abandoned. A person at work actually recommended this place to me and put me on. Got it twice in one week and family loved it. The brisket isn't like your typical BBQ style brisket, it is more just slices of beef. The ribs, chicken, and pulled pork was delicious! A few years back this was a really great place. It's chain restaurant so it has certain standards for the quality of the food that it tends to ring the bell on every time even now. However, the real problem is shorthanded wait staff. Over the last year they've had to make substantial changes to hours that they're open, days that they're open, and they're still short-staffed. It's extremely common that if you show up an hour to an hour and a half before they close that you won't actually get seated. As you're waiting, the wait staff tend to ignore you and bustle to the tables or carry out orders. Very solid chain rib place. Both the St Louis and Baby Back pork ribs are good. They are smoked, then finished on the grill and basted with a Kansas City-style sweet red bbq sauce. I'd recommend a pass in the brisket however. What I had in a combo was thin, dry, and had little flavor. Don't skip the garlic Texas toast though, it's amazing and a nostalgic taste right out of the 80s! The gremlin and I decided to try this place out. It wasn't bad at all for a first visit and we may frequent again. Military discounts are offered and you have to show your server your credentials to receive it. I like that there are combo platters and they bring a tray for your bones to allow you to have room to maneuver without it looking like a graveyard on your plate. Parking and seating was generous. We didn't wait very long at all before being seated and ordering. They do have rotating specials and my portion was enough to take some for lunch the next day. Of note, all the sauces that were on the table for use had clean bottles. Very often people lick their fingers and the bottles will be messy and sticky to the touch. Let's start with the service. Our waiter was attentive and very personable. He kept the drinks full and made sure we had everything we needed. There were 5 of us so we tried several different things, but among us the brisket was the clear favorite. The garlic toast was good. I've ate here a lot over the past few years. Their food has always been good. But they've improved some over the past few years. Before my fries would be kinda soggy or my bread could've been toasted more in the past. They'd also forget to give me things to go. Last few years I've had a streak of crispy fries and toast. All my orders have been checked properly before going out too. The pulled pork is always great. The sides are good but the beans are probably my favorite. The STL ribs, the Babyback's, the beef brisket; chicken. My family has had it all over the years. Everyone has a little different spin on their BBQ. Dinner time, I was immediately seen to a table and my waitress stopped by a few moments later to tell me about the specials and take my drink order. By the time she returned with my beer, I was ready. The "ribs and ribs" combo with baked beans and a baked potato. It wasn't long before the food arrived as it really only needed to be plated up. The ribs were not *great* but they were good. Very meaty and just about fall-off-the-bone. The sauce on the ribs didn't taste "right" and they seemed dry anyway. You kinda know that a place isn't really confident in their 'cue when there's sauce on the table. And another squirt bottle of their "tangy with Tabasco" was delivered with the meal too. The potato was perfectly fluffy, the highlight of the meal. I thought beans were too smoky. Finally got to check this place out. Everytime we drive by this place Dave always says I have to try their cheese fries.... A year later lol we decided to eat here for lunch.
