Love the food here, some of the best Asian/Pacific Islander fusion food you can get around this area! Highly recommend at least trying one of everything if you love eating here normally. I was looking for a place to grab a quick dinner (and one that had air conditioning on a 90 degree day) and found this restaurant. After I placed my order, I noticed quite a few to go orders being picked up. I decided on the chicken katsu that came with macaroni salad, rice, and a sweet and spicy ketchupy flavored bbq sauce. The chicken was super juicy, had a nice crunchy exterior, and was not oily at all. The macaroni salad was good, although it needed a little salt. The bbq sauce was a little sweet for my liking, but the chicken was so flavorful that it didn't need sauce. Before my meal arrived, I was given some fried crunchy noodles with a dipping sauce. Hawaii BBQ is a fun local spot to get great Chinese food and try out a sprinkle of dishes from the 808. To date I've tried their lumpia, loco moco and Kalua pork with cabbage. The lumpia is yummy and I love the way they cook the wrapper nice and crispy. The kalua pork with cabbage comes with two scoops of rice and a scoop of mac salad. This dish is yummy but it was a bit salty for my taste. The loco moco is two ground beef patties on a bed of rice and gravy and topped with an over medium egg. This dish also comes with a scoop of mac salad. Their lychee lemonade is delightfully delicious, so give it a try. I think I'll give the mango fruit tea a try next time. I got the general tsao's tofu & an order of lumpia. The tofu was really good- it was different than I've had at Chinese spots. The tofu was really large and it was prepared a bit differently (almost like age tofu from sushi restaurants). I really liked it a lot. The lumpia was more like a spring roll than anything- I wasn't a huge fan of those. The service was great! The lady at the front got our order taken quickly, and we waited for about 15-20 minutes. I had my 4-year old godson, and he was entertained by the many customers picking up their food (tip- call in your order so it'll be ready quicker!), and the young man who was in there (the owner's kid probably) was so gentle & kind with my godson- he talked with him and gave him some little candies. This place has been around for decades I believe. I remember coming here over 10 years ago and it was good. This stands true to this day. It was delicious and the portions were large. All the made to order drinks were delicious. A variety of teas and lemonades plus milk teas as well. Ordered 4 different kinds and they were all amazing. Strip center restaurant we stumbled on accidentally. We were planning on gourmet burgers, 2 doors down, but they didn't have any dining in today due to a special event. What a happy accident! Amazing find as we literally stumbled upon this place and were so impressed by the delicious food. Gratis fried wonton noodles served with sauce to start off our meal. Chinese Beef Haw Foon which was a pad thai noodle dish with such juicy beef. Large portions as well. Spam misugi was spam in sushi. Ma pa tofu was as close to the real thing. If I could give 10 STARS.. I WOULD!! Last night after another suggestion from my son- who said "They make the best Thai Ice tea Mom! You have to try it!"... I decided that through hell or SNOW I was going to try it. Went to attempt to collect my daughter food at WINGSTOP to find they closed early but apparently forgot to let DOORDASH support know this- so we were charged for her order but they were CLOSED! Anywhoooo.. after that we headed to HAwaii BBQ- in usual VA days the trip to HAWAII BBQ would only be maybe 10 minutes- BUT the snow was now really coming down and I definitely slowed down to a measly 20 (we were 1 of maybe 5 vehicles out- so I was not the only crazy person out ‍) We did arrive to the pick - up until around 9:30 or so. I was scared they were closed - sign was off lights were dim- but I prayed to the Goddess they were still just by some how waiting for me like kind souls knowing I needed me some HAWAII BBQ (and that SUPER AMAZING THAI ICE TEA WITH BOBA FOR 5.95$)... And they were!!! The gentleman was apologetic and said they had been closed and reported it to DoorDash but customer service didn't update - so they were not going to make the order but decided to call DoorDash and ask if it was ok to cancel so they could leave and not be in the store- he said DOORDASH tried to call me 3 times but I didn't answer ( Driving in snow+talking on phone=ACCIDENT)... they decided that they would wait for me... and they did!!! This place is not good. I have eaten there maybe about 3 to 5 times total for fun comfort food but they have always come up short. I would not eat there again. There is another restaurant close by which is a Thai one. It's about 2 or 3 minutes away. It has much better Polynesian type flavor in their food than this one. Had to ask them for extra shrimp in their shrimp rice dishes. They just are basic. Always empty. Never a line there. Food is not good so that is why.
