    a package of hot links
    Stephanie S.

Ate here as a young adult when visiting my mother's family in East Texas. I would always purchase these links from my local butcher shop/some grocery stores. I live in the DFW area and can only find these at my local Latin market. Very hard to find nowadays in store. Found them right next to the bull testicles. Not kidding lol, love these hot links.

    Hot links!

I love this place and have been going since I was a kid. My granddaddy passed away the day after my last visit here. When we were kids he would take us here to eat hot links. This was also his favorite place to eat until the very end. I came here on a road trip for nostalgic reasons. I'm giving this five stars because of the memories and for the fact that the hot links tasted just as I remembered. If you put a whole one in your mouth and bite down, they explode with juice and flavor. The red sauce is my favorite to dip the links in. My fiancé, unfortunately, had never visited before so when he saw the links he was turned off and thought they looked like something else... so he got the chicken tenders instead. I will note that the service was completely terrible. Like completely. When we walked up to the counter the lady just stared at us. No "hello" "how can I help you?" "Welcome in". No smile. Nothing. Looked like the poor girl hated her life in that moment. Turned me off a bit. The other thing that got me was the 8-10 "online order pick up" spaces in front of the restaurant. We had just come back from a camping trip and had everything loaded in the bed of the truck and my dogs in the cab. This lady comes out as asked if we had a pick up order. I said no we didn't, but if she could please spare a spot because my whole life was in that truck. She proceeds to scoff at me and started walking back inside. I was like ohhh lord, honey. I am not the one. I was trying to be nice when I asked her, but she chose to be rude. However, I do think she heard me on her way back in because she was MUCH nicer when we got inside. Please note that out of all of those spaces only ONE was taken. Needless to say, the employees poor attitudes did not take away from my joyous memory, but they need to show a little more hospitality if you ask me. You never know who or why someone is stopping in. RIP Grandaddy.

I wanted so badly to like this...but it's not good. The sausages were very greasy and reminiscent of dog food in texture. The other food we ordered was ok. The place is very VERY dirty. I mean incredibly dirty. Thick dust and cobwebs hanging from everywhere, fans have an inch of greasy dust on them. Bummer cause I love a good small town staple restaurant.

Famous hot links restaurant in Pittsburgh, TX. It's located in the scenic downtown. Across the street is a drugstore which advertises a bridal registry on their signage - interesting... We had hot links - not bad but not sure why they are "world famous." The hamburger was excellent. The rice and beans pedestrian. The banana pudding tasty and fresh. This place is worth a stop just for the charm. We enjoyed the atmosphere inside the restaurant. The food's not bad, but certainly not worth going out of your way to eat.

    Entrance to some awesome hotlinks!

Pittsburgh Hot Links this is nothing fancy or anything you going to extend a pinky on as you eat them. this is just good ole down home East TX vittles. We make this trip every October to camp somewhere in East Texas to allow us the pleasure of this delicacy. This year camping at Lake Bob Sandlin, put us between Mt. Vernon, Mt. Pleasant & Pittsburgh its a pretty good trifecta of small towns each offering something special. Back to Pittsburgh Hotlinks the restaurant is very clean and huge for large groups but like almost all eateries right now finding people that want to work is a struggle so a little patience is asked. You can go through the line and first think they ask is do you want hot links and you can get them in bundles of, 6, 12, 18, 24, 30 or even 52 for those really big appetites, who has no fear of heartburn. For the folks who do not want hot links they have a great spicy Texican burger its probably full 3/4 lb burger mixed with the hot sauce they provide with the hotlinks and a couple of hotlinks mixed into the ground beef great flavor. I would suggest asking them to cook it medium and not well done. My daughter got the burger and loved it she was really impressed on the thickness of the patty. She was a little disappointed as it was overcooked for her liking (only 11) but she knows good beef should never be cooked past medium rare. One of our other friends got the spicy tacos and she loved them, the shells were good and crisp topped with lettuce, tomato and shredded cheese. Their daughter got the grilled ham & cheese sandwich, she raved about it. The Texas toast was buttered on both sides and the cheese was oozy & gooey. She said it about as close to a perfect sandwich as she could have asked for. I have to give a shout out to the girl working the hotlinks she was attempting to do multiple jobs. There were a couple of other workers there but they would get distracted due to group of friends impacting getting grilled orders out. But we will be back and yes I got an extra order of 24 hotlinks to go.

The place is known for their Hot Links and it's the one thing that I do not like there. They are more of a sausage small links. I like HOT links, the ones you find in California. So I tried the catfish instead and they were pretty good. Crunchy and flavorful. It came with fries and and side of Cole slaw. The Cole slaw was ok, it could have used more mayo. My son and husband got a hamburger, the burgers looked big. My son said it was good! Not a huge restaurant but great for a big family to sit in the middle that offers bench seating for a lot of people. It was pretty packed when we arrived and the customers weren't slowing down even at 230pm. They also offer breakfast, which I just might have to try out one day.

Good old country cooking. This place has been here for many years! They specialize in hot links, that's what their famous for. They also serve breakfast and lunch. They have really good breakfast meals that are vary inexpensive. They also have a great chicken sandwich with special sauce!! The people that are working are vary friendly and nice. But if your a out of towner than you get A lot of looks from other costumers! Lol

Their customer service is good. Their southwest wrap is good. The cleanliness sometimes isn't so great, their hot links aren't that great.

We stopped in on Thursday around 5:30 p.m. hoping to grab some salted caramel cookies, but they were sold out. So my husband ordered three Heath cookies and three white chocolate macadamia nut cookies instead. When the employee handed us our order, there was only one white chocolate macadamia nut cookie. My husband politely let her know that he had ordered three. Instead of simply saying, "Oops, let me fix that," she immediately argued that he had only asked for one. When he asked for the other two cookies, she gave us an obvious attitude. I honestly don't understand why. It's not like we were asking for free cookies--we paid for the other two. Maybe she was annoyed that she had to ring them up separately, but regardless, that isn't how customers should be treated. We stayed polite the entire time. We didn't raise our voices or give her any attitude back. It was disappointing to be treated that way over such a simple mistake. Experiences like this leave a bad impression, and my husband said that was the last time he'll shop at this location. The really disappointing part is that they make some damn good cookies. It's a shame that great products are being overshadowed by poor customer service.

While I wish immediately to have some good things to say, I am shocked by the massive perception of reviewers that quantity is everything. The burgers are massive, indeed; we were unable to finish the smallest version. On the good side, the staff were super friendly and helpful and the meat patty was large, of good quality and hand formed. The vegetables on the burger were fine, but the condiments were slathered on so excessively that the veggies slid off onto the plate. When a meat patty is this large, it is impossible to grill it in such a way that it can form the crust needed (the Maillard effect). The breathtaking misdeed, however, was to serve frozen onion rings that were, basically, inedible. I do wish them well, and I would encourage reviewers to consider aspects of a restaurant beyond the size of servings.
