Can't comment on the food. Sat at the bar and had the absolute worst service experience I've ever had. First bartender was great, but he got off at 4pm and two female bartenders took his place. Not asked once if we'd like anything else. I finished a glass of wine and moved it towards the well of the bar. She took it and walked off. Sat for over 10 mins until I finally asked if I could get something. Worst experience I've had at a restaurant bar. The entire time there was only 2 other people at the bar. They were not talked to either. The bartenders both did good housekeeping at the bar and enjoyed time on their cellphones. read more

This was an amazing experience. We went to a fundraiser last week and someone mentioned that this was open. We tried it Friday evening. It is the real deal. My wife and I have lived in Europe. The food was great, and the vibe was so cool. I had the filet, caprese salad, and shared the stuffed peppers as an appetizer. My dinner companions said the beer was also wonderful. The only thing I would improve is that the server could have been more attentive. The dining room was not busy, but our server only came by our 6 top a handful of times including getting items that were forgotten twice. We wanted to find a spot midway between Brenham and Dallas to meet our daughter and family for her birthday. This was 2h drive for each of us and as It was a Sunday and we wanted to make reservations and we were able to do so here. Atmosphere and food was awesome... only comment is the appetizers came out at the same time as the food so next time would order them first and then the main courses... the risotto with shrimp and scallops was the star...and the schnitzel was great as well. This was to be a belated birthday celebration for a family member. Reservations were made for a party of 12 at 6:30, Sunday evening. We arrived punctually and we're seated a few minutes later. Our server was very pleasant and took our drink and appetizer order promptly. We received waters all around. Those of us who'd ordered soda or tea were served our respective beverages within a short time. Others in our party opted for selections from the extensive beer offerings. After 30 minutes as we were diving into our appetizers, our server explained that the bartender was new (his 1st night on the job here) thus he was somewhat behind in his drink preparations. Please note that no one ordered mix drinks, just beers. She kept us apprised as to the ETA of the drinks. Finally, nearly an hour since we'd been seated, the others received their ever elusive beers. We had ordered our meal choices earlier and settled in to wait. We had been assured the kitchen wasn't running behind like the bartender. Our food was served in a timely manner. It was hot when it arrived and was prepared as ordered. This was Labor Day weekend, known for the Czech celebration of West Fest just down the road. It always brings lots of Czech relatives in for the festival. I married into a Czech family. The birthday girl was excited to try Pivovar (Czech for brewery) since it reflected the heritage of foods made by her mother and grandmothers. The menu is quite abbreviated. In fact I recall only around eight entree selections which included sandwiches and burgers. The food portion of the menu took up around two pages, they offered schnitzel four different ways. The beverage section was contained on the other six or seven pages. The food was mediocre at best. The beers were cool, not cold. They offered several different 'flights' which consisted of about four or five variations of different types of beer, brandy, whiskey, etc. While the food was o.k., the decor was spectacular. Lots of wood and glass. Chairs upholstered in beautiful hunter green leather. There was an extensive display of hand-blown Czech glass objects, such as incredible bowls and vases in various stunning colors. From what we understand from our server, Sunday evenings are usually slow and easy. I suppose management thought it would be a good night to start the new bartender. I don't believe they took into consideration the holiday and the Czech celebration happening down the road. This is probably the reason for the influx of customers on this usually laid-back evening. The assistant manager was able to compensate us for the nearly-hour-long wait on our beverages. We may return again, but not any time soon. Please let me say our server was very attentive, efficient and pleasant and did a fantastic job. She kept apologizing for the delay in our drinks, which of course she had no control over. read more

Pivovar was such a fun place for a birthday dinner! The atmosphere is spectacular and feels so nice without crazy prices. The staff was super helpful and courteous, she brought a friend and I new beers when we didn't enjoy our first choice. I tried the schnitzel and it was yummy. I did wish that there was some sort of sauce that could've gone on top of it. I'll definitely be back to try one of their salads, they looked delicious. First off our waitress was great! Super attentive and no issues there! The restaurant seems to nickel and dime for most things...we started off with spinach and artichoke dip which was not very warm at all. Cheese was hardly melted and they gave 5 Crustinis for the entire dip. We were then given more Crustinis. My wife ordered the Gnocchi with mushrooms and there was so much mushrooms it was insane. I ordered the fettuccini and it was actually really great. We both ordered chicken to be added to our dish. Lastly we ordered fries for a side with some ranch...come to get the bill and I found out they charged $1/side of ranch, $2 for the extra Crustinis, and $6/entree for chicken! I was shocked at the additional unexpected costs and simply wish our waitress would have told us about things. We will come back but not order the appetizer and never get the Gnocchi again. read more

Wow, what a disappointment this joint was. We had two solid recommendations for the food and the beer. A bartender at our hotel recommended as did a friend who has kids at Baylor. In case you're wondering both the food and beer were a flop. The food was unappetizing and taste followed suit. In fairness, we only order appetizers, but at that we packed it in and headed to another local craft brewer. If you find yourself in search for a cold sausage plate that questions whether the meat contained within was ever cooked or cured this is your place. How do you screw up Brussels sprouts? By not cooking them and leaving more stems than leaves intact. I am not sure even rabbits would find this appetizing. Finally, if you enjoy copious amounts of average heavy Czech beer served at slightly above room temp you've found your match. Personally, I'd drive a few more minutes to Southern Roots and get some great craft beer and pizza! read more

If 0 stars was an option, I would give it. The service was atrocious. We spoke to 2 different servers before we could get just waters and that took 10 minutes. It took 3 more employees and another 15 minutes to get drinks from the bar and only after we complained to management. The waitstaff was rude when we asked for our waters repeatedly. The manager brought our drinks and was passive aggressive towards us because there was a complaint. What little food we did get, by accident, (charcuterie board) was unimpressive and overpriced. The owner was more pleasant than the waitstaff and manager but was still unhelpful. The CEO, needless to say, should not be in the business of customer service. He was hostile and aggressive over our complain about the service. His excuse was that the restaurant was busy. And while I can recognize that there were plenty of people needing help, the restaurant was by no means packed. And frankly, if you can't handle a busy restaurant, then you shouldn't be in operation. Horrible experience and will never return. Very disappointed. read more

If I'm being honest this place was awful. Went for a girls night and it was absolutely ridiculous. We are very patient women, we've worked in service so we understand pretty much all situations. We waited, on average, 30min for drinks while we watched both bartenders chat with guests. Additionally, waited 2 and a half hours to receive our food. Our food came out in 3 courses. Sides came first, 25min later half the table's food came out, 25min later the other half came out. If we had a party of 20 I would be more forgiving, but we had less than 5 people at our table. The most frustrating part had to be management. One manager, Luke, completely disregarded our feelings and decided to talk about his religion and then proceed to tell us that they were having an off night. Everyone at the table was upset that he didn't even bother to apologize and address our concerns. Following that, the kitchen manager, Jeremy, asked us how everything went. We let him know we were pretty upset at how long we were waiting and the response of his other manager. He laughed. Then told us that a server had a panic attack as soon as we ordered, yet he didn't know when or what any of us had ordered. We continued to let him know that this wasn't an attack, just a significant concern about us waiting a considerably long amount of time for food and drinks and we wanted to be heard. He disregarded all of it as well. I'm concerned at how this restaurant runs and wouldn't recommend unless you want to spend 4hrs waiting on food and drinks, and hear condescending comments from management. read more

After making quick dinner a reservation, Pivovar was everything we expected it to be and more. We skipped appetizers and devoured the homemade bread slices that were delivered promptly to our table. We then started in on our main courses which were the schnitzel and chicken Cobb salad. Both meals were of generous portion sizes and were seasoned perfectly. The salad was extremely fresh and all of the ingredients were delicious. We also added the mushroom sauce to the schnitzel, which made it stand out even more. For dessert we had the berry cheesecake. It was creamy, light, and filled with different types of berries. With dinner, I ordered a whiskey sour and my friend had a peachy keen from the cocktail menu. Both were well-made. Miguel, our server, was funny, prompt, and knowledgeable. i know we will both be returning! I encourage anyone to come here and try our this new-to-Waco spot.
