This movie theater has gone through a lot of changes in the past ten years. They do not have the…read morespec for a full recliner experience, however they did upgrade at least 1 row in their smaller theaters and 2 rows in each of their bigger theaters to have recliners. The recliners are comfy, cozy, and have a good view of the screen. The staff keeps the premises and auditoriums very clean, despite how busy it gets. This movie theater is prone to bouts of understaffing, which is when you get a messier premises, but they are on top of things regularly which I appreciate. My biggest problem is with how expensive this theater has gotten. Charging almost $10 for a drink, and then charging almost the same price for a popcorn, is a bit outrageous. It used to be that you could get a large combo for $9.25, and they did away with the medium size entirely. It also used to have a nice and spacious concession stand/ ticket counter, which is now cluttered/ crowded with stanchions and candy/ merchandise that nobody buys. I also do miss when seasonings were included at the butter stations. That may be the fault of the company as a whole, but it is sorely missed. Their new IMAX area is quite lovely. Definitely feels like a VIP experience walking in and through it.

The building was open so we could line up early. The theater team were very nice about that. I like the Emagine movie theater chain and appreciate that they went to all recliner seating. Some also have heat, which is needed because they keep their theaters very cool. We viewed the film in their big EMAX theater - it's a great viewing and listening experience. My only beef with Emagine is that their concession teams don't always fill your popcorn bucket. Not to get all Falling Down on folks (keeping to the theater theme) but it would be nice to be served what is advertised. ‍ Alas, I'll be back. I like the location and especially the movie going experience at Emagine.

I grabbed 2 of their trays for the seats to hold the popcorns and drinks and began juggling all of that alone. I proceeded to my theater and was met by a staff member that said they were still cleaning and we would need to wait in the hall. When I asked where I could place the trays and food I was juggling I was told "I don't know" I asked for a manager and I had 3 "managers" come up to me. I explained that I was juggling all of this as a single parent and they said " maybe don't come so early". I said that the staff member should advise the theater doesn't open until 30 mins before a show and she said " we can't catch everyone".... First of all this was held at the beautiful Hartland Music Hall which is just off Avon Street in…read moredowntown Hartland. It's a beautiful building. Old and quite ornate. It's also has a good size seating capacity. It has a Center seating section, with additional seating sections on each side. There was also a small balcony. There are Covid precautions in place and masks are required to be worn at this juncture. The actors and actresses were all members of the community. Quite honestly they were superb. The play was Steel Magnolia's. This story was rolled out and brought out all the emotions that we have-at different times during the play. My nephew was actually the one that told me about the play and when I found out he was interested in going I thought it would be a great opportunity for both of us! There were small breaks between Acts and an intermission halfway through the production. Cookies, water and other small items were available for purchase. Any food and beverage had to be ingested up where it was sold so as to preserve the beauty of the auditorium. I wondered how they were going to do "Steel Magnolia's" as I saw the movie years ago and knew the sad outcome. The way they modified the play encompassed the spirit of the situation without having a death bed scene. I found myself crying anyway. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed the production and we have every intention of returning in the near future! "Bravo", "Encore".. Hartland City Players- thank you for such an enjoyable evening!!
