We stopped for breakfast about 7:30; there were no other customers, we were seated but the waitress did not appear for many minutes. She was not properly dressed (wearing a "Pink tee shirt). There was no decaf coffee ready. The waitress took a long time before taking our order which then took a long time to come out of the kitchen. Although the restaurant was open, the staff was not prepared for service. It was a disappointment today. read more

I live not even a 2 minute drive away so i've been there a few times. It isn't the fanciest place or the most modern, but it does what is needed. Food is very good and service is almost always very good. Definetly not a place for teens to hang out, but more of a family and older people crowd. I have been here numerous times over the past few years, usually with my parents and/or my fiancee. This place is situated in the Tops Plaza right off of 490 and Buffalo Road. It may be mildly confusing to the first timer in this area, as there are a few closely stationed traffic lights. There is always room for parking here. Upon entering on the left side of the building, you will notice the hostess/cashier station directly ahead of you with a few booths behind it. The kitchen is kitty corner to the right and immediately to the right is the dining area with a few tables down the midline and some booths along the windows and along the wall. The wall is rather interesting: a panoramic mural of classy gentlemen and ladies dancing around a fountain with a city background. The colors in here remind me of a coffee shop with lots of tans, browns, and yellows. The menu is diverse with a small selection of Greek and a large selection of everything else. We usually come here for lunch and have only rarely come for breakfast or dinner, so my review is only based on the lunch here. They usually have 2 soups and quite frequently, one of them is lemon chicken. Kind of an interesting twist on chicken noodle, making it creamier and thicker with some lemon hints. There are a number of appetizers and we enjoy the loaded nachos and the chicken quesadilla, especially my dad. They don't skimp on the chicken either, which is another plus in my book. As far as the rest of the menu, if you have been to these "family restaurants", you'll know that the menus are extensive with a huge number of selections. Burgers, sandwiches, pitas, wraps, paninis, open faced hot sandwiches, clubs, etc. And with each category there are at least 5 or 6 choices. So you can imagine how many different items are available. I'll comment on a few I've had and enjoy. I absolutely love the Turkey Divan. It's thick cut turkey slices with swiss cheese and broccoli in a garlic and herb wrap, served with honey mustard on the side. I get this about 75% of the time I come here. Nice and hot and the flavors are nicely melded together. I've had the chipotle cheesesteak, which is a twist from the traditional Philly Cheesesteak. Sliced beef with onions, peppers, and cheese served with a chipotle sauce. I'd appreciate some jalapenos in the sandwich itself, but it's good regardless. The paninis are very good, with just the right amount of toast to the bread. There are a large selection of those as well, I recommend the New Yorker and the Palermo. Their french fries are like large versions of Burger King fries, very crispy. Service is good, especially Erica or Rose, who are extremely attentive and very friendly. Coffee top-offs are fairly constant, as are water refills. Overall, the value is quite reasonable. The lunch items tend to be less than $8-9 each. 4 of us ordered lunch entrees with an appetizer to share and a couple of drinks and it came out to $44 before tip. I can definitely live with that. We ate here for the first time tonight after having the restaurant recommended by family. And we were very disappointed. The haddock and fries my wife orders was cold and the fries were not cooked through. The veal I ordered was tough and bland and the pasta sauce tasted like tomato sauce that had been poured out of a can and not seasoned. And to top it off, the waitress, Erica was rude and didn't pay attention to requests such as no onion on the salad and water with no lemon. I will not be going back here. read more

It's fine. I gone here a handful of times for breakfast with a business associate. The food is fine - a carbon copy of low-flavor American diner breakfast that you can get anywhere. I have been coming here with my grandparents for years. It's a down home, easy family style restaurant that is affordable and portions are huge. It's dated a bit, but we never come for the decor. It's clean and the food is fresh and pretty hearty. Menu is massive.. They do a delish breakfast Pancakes and omelettes to die for. I always get the western with Texas toast and homemade home fries. It's been our family go-to diner forever. Dinner is also a favorite of ours, cause it's close to home and we can pick up food for take out or if we are staying in, it's fast and people are sweet. We know most of the servers by now and so we get treated very much like regulars. Cozy place - so I don't care if it's not the hippest place in town. It makes for good old Americana dining! And in this economy we can all use a little less glam and a little more bang for our buck. I'll keep my few extra bucks and feel satisfied with my meal- go shopping instead! read more

The menu is well done with a wide variety of diner cuisine at a reasonable price. The specials change often with several very good values each day. I'm fond of the panini selection they have. I've eaten a Pixley's several times and I've never been disappointed. It's located next to my favorite movie theater so I like to go their either before or after the show. The lunch menu offers a great variety of sandwiches as well as burgers. The soup is always good. The dinner menu offers many tasty dishes. One of my favorites is the chicken Marsala. I also am a big fan of their chicken French. Both are served with pasta and the serving sizes are quite large. The atmosphere of the place is a little more sophisticated than a diner but it still has a friendly casual feeling. The serving staff is also very friendly and they make you feel at home. On weekends, the owner is usually there and his grandchildren sometimes help him behind the register. This is a great place to take a family. read more

Really bad experience. 2nd time unhappy and not going back. My artichokes in the French were horribly sour. I looked like the guy on the warhead package. My mom's chicken in her half chicken dinner was dry and heated up in the microwave. My sisters ravioli didn't taste good. And her boyfriend said his chicken didn't taste right in his chicken parm. My experience here was bad. First ordered a milk shake and thw milk was warm. I made the waitress aware and she said that thats how they make it. And wanted ti sit here and make it seem like i was lying. 2nd i ordered a sub and evrything she wrote i wanted was co pletly the opppsite. I have given this restaurant yet another chance. I remembered that the last time I ate here I liked the frittata. I didn't care for the decor or the service. I was craving breakfast, and Dennys was packed, so I figured try Pixleys again. We were seated in the back, in a booth that was very roomy for the 5 of us which was nice. Although the way it is set up, its very awkward squeezing through tables and booths to get to your seat. The service was better than I remembered. I ordered a simple breakfast of eggs over easy, home fries and ham. The food was mediocre, and turned discusting once I discovered a hair that was sticking out from underneath my eggs. At that point, everyone lost their appetites and all five plates were left half eaten. I didn't bring this to the attention of our server(I just wanted to get out of there) A bus boy asked if we wanted boxes and quickly removed our plates. The server was pleasant and even gave me a coupon for 15 percent off today's meal. I won't give it another try anytime soon. read more

Not coming here again. I thought this place used to be a good place from what I heard but I guess, not anymore. They served me a rotten food, literally. I hope, I am not going to get food poisoning or someone gonna get sued. I don't know what happened to their management, I guess someone just don't care anymore about the quality of their food or someone stupid hired stupid workers. This is a fairly typical diner with typical diner atmosphere and menu. We were there on a Saturday afternoon for lunch when it wasn't too busy. The food was OK- not all that remarkable. Our service was fine - not particularly friendly or engaging but not bad. The people in the table across from us waited quite some time before one of them walked up to the hostess and asked if she could send a server over. After what appeared to be an exchange between the hostess and a few waitresses with some gesturing and finger pointing you'd think one of them would have walked over to take an order. Nope - they waited about 5 more minutes and then walked out. Some more discussions and gesturing ensued before they cleaned up the table. For years, my family and I have been eating here. Best hearty home cooked breakfasts in town! And friendly staff... Easy going environment. It's a down-to-earth traditional American family restaurant. Our favorite night is Friday- for their kick-butt fish fry. It's usually packed with people cause this Rochester staple is so popular on Friday nights here. Lunch is also super delish.. I Come by during the week on my lunch breaks from work, for their panini sandwiches and good size portioned salads.
