My sister was in from Syracuse to catch an 8am movie at Tinsel Town. (No judging our bizarre family). I checked Yelp for a place for brunch nearby to meet afterwards. Hello, Mr. Beenz! My sister arrived first and was able to get a booth in the front corner. Truth be told, it was frigid. But I do imagine the servers running around truly appreciated it. Nicole was our server. My son was the last to arrive, but Nicole (& other servers) made sure my sister and I were content while waiting. We had coffee and tea and then we all ordered. I had the Sloppy Frittata which was a take on a Garbage Plate and it was amazing- plenty for two days. My son ordered the omelette with kielbasa and Swiss and my sister the English muffins with egg, spinach, artichoke and Hollandaise Sauce. Upon arrival we were promptly seated, in an almost full house. Within minutes of being seated our waitress was greeting and eager to provide drinks. The restaurant is clean,bright, and smells delicious. Today Sue is sausage and bean or beef and barley. There are no specials during the week, only on weekends. After reviewing the menu I decided to order the shaved steak Florentine melt. It is a steak sandwich with peppers, onions, spinach, mozzarella cheese and horseradish mayonnaise on sourdough bread. Stopped here for lunch as I was in the area for work. This is a small, friendly diner with decent food and reasonable prices. I had their soup of the day, which was very good - broccoli cheddar. Was looking for a diner I haven't tried yet, and the photos of the food here looked great. Upon entering, the place was much smaller than expected, but the food going around looked just as great as the photos, and my tummy started grumbling. I got the biscuits and gravy, with scrambled eggs and deep fried potatoes. Everything was delicious. The eggs were nice and fluffy, biscuits and gravy were excellent, the potatoes were perfectly cooked with a light seasoning. I was curious about their meat hot, so I asked for a side of it. It was the soupiest one I've ever seen. After a napkin soaked up the excess grease, it had a light flavor, seemed to be less seasoned than others. I had a chance to try some French toast and sausage as well. The French toast was standard, and the sausage was above average. My wife and I used to go to Mr. Beenz as it's closer for breakfast. The one thing that bothers me the most was being charged .75 for little dishes that weren't full with steak sauce, hot sauce and syrup. Just buy them in bulk along with the squeeze bottles and refill them daily, like every other diner in the area, to cover the expense add a $1.00 to all the items on the menu. This little diner was packed and we had to shuffle around for a few minutes, which is why the 4 stars. A fairly small, intimate diner geared towards breakfast and lunch. They were packed in Sunday morning when we got there. We waited, and we're not disappointed. My friend had Pumpkin pancakes(special of the day) plus eggs and bacon. I had a Belgian Waffle with eggs and links. Water, coffee, Pepsi rounded out the meal. Conversation was friendly. We try to go out a couple times a month for breakfast. This morning we had errands to run and one being the Garden Factory on Buffalo Rd. Since Mr Beenz is almost across the street, we decided to go there for breakfast. I'm glad we did. This was our first time and we loved it. We both had the biscuits and gravy with eggs and home fries. The portions were perfect and the gravy actually had flavor. Which, for conesours of sausage gravy know, sometimes no thought is put in to flavoring the gravy beyond flour, butter, sausage, and milk. I always ask for crispy home fries and they actually came out crispy! They have an abundance of other selections as well, including several options for pancakes, french toast, omelettes, and Benedicts. All prices were very reasonable. The service was outstanding, never had to flag someone down for more coffee. They are very attentive and really made the experience. They were following the current covid guidelines including the staff wearing masks and sanitizer was available for those that wanted it. The only shortfall is that they are limited in table space. We definitely will be back to try out some of the other selections that looked wonderful as I looked around! I'm not sure why this place has such high ratings. The atmosphere leaves something to be desired. Yes, it's a cafe, which is fine, but it's so tight in there that it's uncomfortable. It's not dirty, but definitely not clean either. The food was not very good. Even the toast wasn't good. How can you go wrong with TOAST? I'm not sure if it was the butter or the bread, but it simply was. not. good. My Western omelet left a lot to be desired. They close at 2:30pm every day...so it's just breakfast and lunch here.its kind of a bummer too because their food is awesome! I've had just breakfast but what I've had I really enjoyed...so I just know of they were open for dinner they would probably knock it out of the park as well. Their omelette's are one of the most fluffiest omelette's I have ever tried...paired with toast and home fries..you can't go wrong. My brother got the eggs Benedict... specifically the Irish Benedict. Mr Beenz is in a standalone plaza building on Buffalo road, and pretty easy to get in and out of with plentiful parking! Pro tip - they're usually busy on weekend mornings, so you may have to wait a little bit, but it's well worth it! Obviously, we came here for food, so let's get on with it! They offer breakfast standards like eggs multiple ways, pancakes, omelets, steak and eggs, country sausage gravy, Benedict's, frittatas and on and on. I went for their omelet, and they make a great omelet, no overcooked egg or burning - just spot on! The meat lovers omelet with sausage, bacon, and cheese is amazing, and hugely filling! So diners by nature, history and custom have varied menus, sometimes humongous menus that cover breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night. Mr.Beenz falls in between this range and the food is uniformly good. The archetypal american diner where you are called "sweetie" and "hon" and the coffee cup stays filled. The Mr. Beenz burger gives stiff competition to the four local Rochester burger joints/chains like Bill Gray's, which is my go-to place for the second-best burgers ever. After I had a Mr. Beenz burger Bill got demoted. That was the day my wife had the biscuits, eggs and gravy. Our next visit we swapped plates. I asked for the well-done hash browns on the bottom, then over easy eggs on the potatoes, topped with the gravy. Perfectly made and presented. No trace of "but that's not the way we've always done it" or "I'll show this guy eggs on top, huh" just what the customer asked for made perfectly. Wife liked her Mr. Beenz burger and she isn't that much of a burger person usually. NOM NOM NOM. The place is small. Really small. Other reviewers have noted this in their reviews. And there's no place to stand and wait except outside. Deal with it. The food is good. The service is pleasant. Wish they would get rid of Fixed Noise (Fox "News") on the corner TV, though. Don't go! It didn't matter to me that they were busy. Getting the food quickly was not the problem. I ordered my food a specific way... a very simple request. She brought the food out and said, "The cooks didn't cook it the way I asked for and gave it to me anyway." She never came back for anything except to give us our bill.
