TBH, I discovered this place because the place I wanted pizza was closed. Not being from the Quad City area, everything for me is based upon referral or reviews. The reviews were decent, so they were an easy 2nd choice. it was pretty easy to place my order, we called and placed the order. We were given a time frame and they were right on time. They gave us directions on what to expect when we pulled up, as they were only providing curb side pick up when i visited in October. Service was good. The young lady who answered the phone was professional and the young lady who brought our our pizza was cool. The pizza was ok. i wanted to love this pizza because I'm not traditionally a pizza lover, but when i want some I really want it! They gave us our three toppings. I think i was more disappointed because they only provided a traditional crust and not a thick or deep dish like I love. (I looove dough and carbs fyi.) there pizza didn't have a lot of sauce on it, if you love sauce you'll need to ask for extra sauce or a sauce cup on the side, like I did... and you may need salt. It didn't' have much zest or flavor to me. All in all, if I was craving pizza again and my #1 spot wasn't open, I'd definitely go back and i will also have to try their other items to see what all they have. Well bummer. It was truly amazing while it lasted. I've patronized Pizza and Suns for 40 years. Unfortunately today was a sad sad experience. They've discontinued dine-in, although their website still says you can dine-in. We resorted to ordering a calzone to go. It was good, but they have clearly cut back on the amount of toppings. Great sauce, calzones, and garlic bread. It's the sauce for me 100%. The sauce is flavorful and I always order extra sauce for the garlic bread and calzone. The cheese garlic bread is a good portion and very addicting. You can taste the fresh garlic and herbs too. The calzone portion is large and very filling too. I've had it most times without the sauce though. One time they put the sauce in it and it was so yummy. I'm not sure if they can always put the sauce it the calzone or not but either way it's yummy. Always have LOVED their original Calzones, no other........and I mean NO OTHER Calzones compares. I was extremely upset today after driving 35 minutes to find that they were not open at 1430 on a Saturday. This is during their working hours and not on a holiday. Very disappointed. read more

Pizza & Subs is undoubtedly the best place in the Quad Cities to get a calzone. Every time I go there, I'm wowed by the quality and portion size. Big enough for two meals, you will go home with leftovers you're willing to guard with your life, if necessary. I order the garden calzone pretty much every time I visit Pizza & Subs. It's filled with sausage, pepperoni, peppers, onions, and a ton of ricotta and mozzarella cheese. Definitely order that side of red sauce. Other calzones I've tried & can recommend are the seafood calzone (if that's your thing) (get the side of alfredo sauce) and the taco calzone. I've never had the pizza, the subs, or the pasta, but Pizza & Subs will always be one of my favorite QC dinner spots. The service is great and the atmosphere is family friendly. read more

Love the calzones but lately have had issues- my husband ALWAYS orders a calzone with BBQ, ricotta, and Italian sausage and the last two times they've been very adamant they CANNOT put the sauce on the calzone, it must be on the side. 2.5 stars. Having eaten here from the time this place opened I have a particular long history with this place. Video games played. Pop slurped. The smell of pizzas and calzones cooking. Watching for the devastating smile a girl behind the counter used to give me long ago when I came in. Having to call a tow truck when my car's alternator died on a cold winter's night. As far as the food goes this place used to make great pizza and subs. The pizza was more East Coast style, which of course I didn't know until I moved out there, with big slices that you could fold over and eat if you wanted to. The calzones were new to the Quad Cities. No one else had them that I knew/know of around here. The standard calzone with sausage and ham was delicious, a giant Hot Pocket but a million times more delectable. And their subs, man those were so good. I used to drool in anticipation on Friday, waiting for the night time when we used to order food. Quality meats, cheeses and bread. Fast forward to the present. The pizza just doesn't' taste like I remember it. The crust isn't as good. The toppings are decent but nothing special. And the sauce isn't as good as I remember. The subs are decent, but the meats aren't the same quality that they once were or close to what I get out East now. Of all the QC pizza places, this is probably my favorite. Their pizza is good and cut in triangles instead of strips. More importantly, their calzones are the best in the QC! Yes, better than stashu's and better than st. guiseppes. Stashu's and guiseppes are both VERY dry calzones that you have to choke down. Not at Pizza & Subs. Pizza is consistent in flavor and quality. Very fast service for pick up. Almost always able to accommodate our large orders (always able with enough notice). The food from pizza and subs is good, but you have to be careful how you order. A calzone generally comes with sauce on the side. Make sure you ask for it, or they won't add it, which makes the calzone too dry. They also upcharge you if you want sauce. Also don't order the nachos. All you get is chips and and a small cup of cheese. I ordered extra cheese and jalapeños, and got one tiny cup of cheese. Not worth the $7 I paid for it. Like I said, the food is good, but the money pinching on things like sauce, and making a decent nacho appetizer really turns me off. You'd figure on nachos you'd get meat and cheese, maybe sour cream. For the money taco bell would get you better and more nachos for your money, and that's not saying much. I like the calzones, but I probably won't go back because when I called they weren't very accommodating about my concerns. read more

Passed through Illinois on my way back to NY and was looking for good pizza for the family. I read good things online about this spot- but it was totally not my experience. The wait was very long, and the food was not worth it. The flavorless pizza slices were the size of Domino slices and the prices were way too high for the service we received. The water tasted like it came from the toilet, which reminds me, with an establishment that fits that many people, to have one single stall in the women's restroom is disgraceful. I understand that not all restaurants in different states will have pizza as good as NY's, but this was just such a sad excuse for an establishment that specializes in pizza. read more

Last time I visited this was called FPT pizza and subs. Hadn't been here in a long while. The calzone is what I ordered. It was good but really didn't stand out or speak to me. The staff is good and as I waited many pizza's and calzones came out of the oven. My taste regarding the sauce was thought to be on the sweet side.
