A solid 4 stars. Came here for dinner not sure what to expect, though intrigued by the high Yelp ratings. Upon entering, you're greeted with lots of train paraphernalia and a general feeling like you're in a legit 1970's/1980's pizza parlor. I'm talking old school, in a good way (at least in terms of the vintage ambiance). Once at the counter, a very helpful employee walked me through how it works and the fact that they make all their dough and sauce. I ordered a large custom pizza (black olives, green peppers, and pepperoni/sausage on halves) along with a small side of potato spikes. And the price was fair - $25 or so. Then we took a seat in the caboose and waited for our pizza to arrive. In probably 10 minutes, it came to our table along with the spikes. The pizza is excellent (I preferred the sausage over the pepperoni). The spikes also were really freakin' good with the ranch dipping sauce. I would absolutely come back here again. We've been coming here since our kids were toddlers. Always a good time and good pizza. Great staff. Love the train and fireplace. One suggestion: It's too quiet inside. Sounds too library-ish at times. Definitely need some music. A jukebox would be awesome -- as well as generate $ for the establishment. Maybe in place of the stuffed animal claw machine. read more

Kinda bummed out, love there pizza but, to each on your thoughts on the Coronavirus . Only one person out of six employees was wearing a mask and there was no gloves at all. We enjoy their pizza...it is a little pricey so we only order it once in awhile but they also have a delicious gluten free crust!!

This is our first time using Pizza Caboose for delivery. We were disappointed in a few things... 1) Pizza was delivered in 75 minutes. We did order on prime time on a Friday night, and it does say on their website that delivery times over 45 minutes can be expected during busy times, but 30 additional minutes seems excessive. They should at least disclose the potential delay during peak times on their site. If our pizza had arrived hot, I might excuse this, but see point #2. 2) Our pizza arrived lukewarm, at best. A far cry from their claim of delivering the "hottest pizza in town". We ended up reheating in our toaster oven. 3) We ordered 2 extra sides of marinara, and two sides of ranch showed up instead. Boo. Please check the accuracy of your deliveries! The crust was good. I agree with other reviewers that the sauce is lacking (which is why we ordered the extra marinara). We might give them another try, and I'll update my review if our second round is better. For $40 for a 10" and 13" pizza, we expected better. read more

We tried pizza caboose for the first time today, we ordered the chicken barbecue pizza, it was deliciously loaded but light. We also had the potato spikes- these seemed to be pretty mediocre potato wedges but good for being pressure fried! The star of the show for me though was the in house made ranch. Thin ranch is the best ranch! Also, clean place, and great welcoming customer service. We will be back! read more

But we left specific instructions that we needed the pizza placed on our doorstep, with no knocking, due to the entire family being sick and half of them sleeping. Don't be deceived by the name, this is a serious pizza place. They have an amazing pizza with excellent toppings and do a very light sauce with amazing crust. I personally recommend sticking with 3 or fewer toppings otherwise the amazing cheese doesn't shine through as much. read more

oh pizza caboose, how do i love thee? let me count the ways. 1 - the crust is the perfect level of crunch 2 - the dough is soft 3 - the cheese. that's all i have to say about that. 4 - pepperoni has a unique level of spice! not too much but you still get that kick. 5 - the canadian bacon pieces are BIG so a few slices really fill you up. 6 - you can taste how fresh the ingredients are. it makes a noticeable difference yes it's pricer than some places but the quality is superior so you get what you pay for here. there's a reason they've been around as long as they have!! read more

Pizza preferences are such a personal thing, aren't they? One man's cheese eden is another man's slop. Same with crust, sauce, toppings. I can forgive a lot of deficiencies if the crust and/or toppings are superb. Pizza Caboose, in Tigard, OR, a suburb of Portland, delivers there pizzas in "radio dispatched trucks with ovens", and judging by the size of the fleet when I have driven past this joint, a lot of people's personal preferences must match the Caboose's recipe. It's somewhat spendy for delivery pizza, the large (16) Caboose Special (salami, pepperoni, Canadian bacon, black olives, mushrooms, beef and Italian sausage, cost me $30 delivered, including tip. I order from them about 3x a year, only, but I have never been unhappy with the pie. We've eaten inside there once, and that was ok as well, but it's more of a place to take your kids than a place for an adult night out. As I said above, I can forgive certain deficiencies in a pie if the crust and toppings are superb, and, both of those criteria are met here, but there's really nothing to forgive. The Caboose is extremely generous with the toppings, as you can see, the cheese is quality, the sauce non-offensive, and the crust holds up well upon delivery, through consumption, and even when left out on the counter overnight, and eaten the next morning (the true test for me on how good a pizza is). Their crust is not thin, and not thick, but crispy and chewy at the same time, with a hint of buttery flavoring goodness. No puddles of grease, no congealed cheese the next morning, and probably my favorite thing about the whole experience, is a really excellent grade of hand-pulled Italian sausage, packed with flavor and with adequate amounts of fennel (to my taste). The other pork toppings are equally up to my standards. The mushrooms and black olives, not so much, but I really don't care about them anyway. I don't really rate the places I go to, other than to say as I have here, whether they meet my preferences, or not, and perhaps that helps you decide whether they meet your own ideals. No online ordering. Give them a call, and have a 'radio dispatched oven truck' bring you a hot pie tonight. read more

I have celiac so I'm always a bit nervous about ordering out for fear of getting super sick from accidental gluten. I called these guys Friday when it was heating up outside because I didn't want to cook. I didn't catch his name, but whoever took my order was awesome and very understanding about my situation. This place is what family is made from. From from childhood memories the restaurant is the same exact when it was in the 80s they've maintained it and kept it clean beautiful building trains are awesome. The food on the other hand is the best food you will probably eat pizza wise especially when you get this bikes make sure you get a side of ranch with it they are the best you'll ever have in the world. I usually come here after the Pizza Caboose on 185th closed. Now I know why it closed. This place is disgusting. I found a bug on my water. After I took it to the front, the girl had the nerve to ask me if I wanted new cups. Also I just want to point out that I come here during different times. Either right when they open on the weekends and sometimes on the evenings. And I just have to say that the customer service is day and night. In the evening they have great customer service and I don't know if it's the staff but in the morning they have crappy customer service. Either way I will never come here again. Not one of the better pizzas that I have had. Cudos for being able to accommodate a really large party that we had on a Sunday afternoon. Really slow, it was like one pizza at a time in the oven so that some of us were done before others even got their pizza. Personally, I wasn't a fan of the sauce on the regular pizzas. Tried the chicken BBQ and that was ok, but seemed like straight bbq sauce out of a bottle. Cute idea for the trains and all, Tucked back away from the street so can be a bit hard to find. For me, it was a one time experiment. Others seem to like it a lot, but that just shows that we all have different tastes. read more
