I have been wanting to try this place for some time and am so glad I did. The gentleman who handed me my pie was so nice and explained their pizza specials. I could tell he stood by his restaurant and the quality. We ordered a cheese pizza figuring it's a great start for a new possible pizza place and both my husband and I really liked it! Thought I'd take a chance and try this place out soley because of it's Palermo name. And when I called I felt comfortable with the man who answered ..he had a rich Sicilian accent and so I told him I was Sicilian/American and I was going to trust him with ordering 2 pizzas that would be cooked just right...not to be over cooked and dry.. but cooked with the oils in the sauce just a tad bit moist and the mootzarella cheese nice a stretchy and abundant on the pie. The man said he would not disappoint me. You know us Italians from North Jersey are spoiled with so many good pizza places around...and down here in South Jersey ...well..it's hit or miss !! The last place we ordered from ..the pizza was dry and tasted like cardboard crust Well... guess what ! He made them perfect ! .. Stopped in for a Sicilian Pie after everyone said, this is the best and pretty much only Sicilian in the area. The pizzeria itself is not a dine in pizza spot- in the winter anyway because I know they have the ice cream joint next store where I am sure you can sit outside. Walking inside, not going to lie I wanted to walk out. For locals sake, gave it a shot anyway. The pizza itself was not a Sicilian by my standards. I like a thick fluffy crust, but crisp at the same time. Their Sicilian is very thin, I'd say maybe a little over half an inch. Had that crispiness I prefer so I'll give extra points for that. Sauce was okay, cheese seemed to be of quality. True Sicilian sizing though, got 12 large slices out of a whole pie which came to around $20 with tax. Wasn't the worst pizza I've ever had and I'd still prefer it over anything from Primo's so I'll give it four stars here on yelp. However, based on a barstool "one bite everyone knows the rules score" - 4.1 (on a scale to 10 for those who don't know the rules) Not going to lie, this probably is the best plain Sicilian you can get in the area based on some other places I have seen. Next time I want a real Sicilian though, I'll take the road trip toward Philly. read more

I ordered the fried pickles because they're one of my favorite foods and it wasn't the best choice. The bottom of the paper bowl was covered in oil from the fryer. I told my friend that, "it's very difficult to mess up fried pickles," and I still stand by that statement. Although they weren't the best fried pickles I've had, they were decent. Pizza di Palermo is definitely my favorite pizza off of OC. The ingredients are clearly picked with quality in mind. The pies are thin, bordering on medium crust which is perfect for me. Pizza Di Palermo shares space at Lloyd's Country Custard on Ocean Heights avenue. This is a small place that's good for take out only. The reason that I find this place to be the best is because their pizzas are very light, with a thin crust. There isn't an overwhelming feeling of too much bread which is nice. The pizzas are always very good, fresh, and the staff are very nice. I went in to this location with my daughter to pick up a couple of pies for a birthday party. They were introducing zeppoles as a dessert. The owner's son saw my daughter eyeing up powdered sugar looking dough and gave her a sample. This was a very kind gesture and it made me feel like a valued customer. All in all, I really like this place and have never had a bad pizza. I think you'll enjoy it.
