My new favorite place!! The service is always great, everyone is friendly and polite. We have had some really cheesy and delicious pizzas from here and plan to try more food items soon. But honestly, we drive 20 min (each way!) just to get the absolutely fantastic specialty iced lattes!! We have had the Bean Tini and the Cookie Obsession and they are both incredible. Went in almost 2 years after my first meal from Romans... which was great... this time I took my bf and brother who was visiting cause he is VEG and likes to have options and loves pizza... I asked the waiter ...who, BTW never greeted us or gave us menus... if they had waiter service. He was insulted for some reason ...saying um yeah thats what I am.... Okay!! Cool, Ummm .. usually with waiter service someone acknowledges you are seen sitting and lets you know they will be right over, something. No biggie. Carry on. Fastforward. I was misled. Either you have blackening seasoning or you don't. Please don't create your own for me. I would of passed and got grilled. I ask the server because as someone who served for 20 years I know you know the food better than anyone!! Be honest, its okay!! No restaurant does every dish fantastical. Lets be real. The so called "blackened" shrimp was painfully gross. It was overloaded with paprika and salt, so nasty but I definitely ate that $14 protein charge. Wasn't tossing that. Brother got veg meatball sub with real mozz cheese and he liked it. Boo got chicken cheese steak and he said it was decent. We all got our food at different times!!! Oh, no you didn't. I don't care how busy you are. I dont care you are a pizza place. It is so rude to the person sitting there with no food. It wasnt a second either. It was ten minutes between 2 of us getting our dinner and my poor brother sitting there starving with nothing in front of him. Give a bread basket if you do that dumb stuff. So, our order was one spinach salad w/ double blackened shrimp, 2 subs with ff, 3 sodas, and 2 plain slices to go. Guess what I spent? A Benji.$100 82 plus 18 tip... almost to the penny. The pizza next to our table was looking so delicious though. I wish the waiter got over his ego and honestly told me what they made well. I asked him if getting the spinach salad was the right thing to do and he acted like it was his favorite. Lies... nothing special there. The slices to go he didn't even bother to heat up in their pizza oven. I promise you. My mom was waiting for warm pizza at the least ..it was room temperature. All facts. Why would you do that? Roman's was a good find on a recent trip to NJ for a conference. It's small, but well appointed with tables and chairs on one side, and a long pizza prep area behind glass, a coffee shop area, and the registers. I was drooling over some pizzas that were on display behind the glass. I quickly ordered what looked like a flatbread with cheese and pepperoni, plus a fountain drink. Everything was less than $8. I've enjoyed the cuisine at Romans for a while now. I've never had a bad meal. The service is really good and attentive. Their take out business is on point. It seems very busy around dinner time. It's a combination of take out and sit down place. Ambiance is nice and always decorated for the time of the season. The owner Olga is very approachable and extremely nice. No arrows. This week was the first time we've been in the area to finally try out Roman's pizza. The smoked mozzarella smoked bacon was really good. The margarita and the bbq chicken...meh. The crust was too much a blend between Sicilian and focaccia. I had hoped it to be more like Carluccio or Maurizio think crust. I really wanted to live it but didn't. What an amazing spot for an Italian fix! I had the drunken eggplant parm sub and it was fresh and delicious. The sauce was craveable. My hubbie had a couple of slices - Hawaiian and Bruschetta. Easy parking was my first impression. Workers were in the lot sweeping and doing general cleaning, a good sign. The restaurant was very clean and the servers were friendly and helpful. We just did a takeout large cheese pizza. Pizza was very good. Good ratio of cheese to sauce and the dough was good, not too thin or thick. This place is AMAZING! I called in an order for a group of 20 (we're a large group, paintball team from Texas) and ordered ALOT of food! Was told an hour/hour and a half very understandable for what we ordered, it literally showed up 30 minutes later and everything was amazing! So fast! The delivery driver was such a nice gentleman! Very Disappointed with the Chicken Barbecue Pizza I ordered a large chicken barbecue pizza to go, and it was a huge letdown. It was overcooked and so dry we couldn't eat it--we had to throw it away. I called the restaurant to let them know, but they didn't offer a refund or a replacement. Really poor customer service. I don't usually write reviews, but I wanted to warn others. Don't let the name of this local gem fool you-their pizza is fantastic but there is much more to it. Think amazing pasta dishes, salads, wraps, and more. Bonus if you're looking for vegan or gluten-free options. This spot is for you. If you're visiting Atlantic City or any of the surrounding beach towns, you really need to take one of the bridges over to the mainland (Absecon, NJ) where you'll find Roman's Pizza House. The staff is friendly and will accommodate any/all special orders, the restaurant is spotless, there are delicious dessert options, and if you're a local, you can also have your order delivered (I pay extra for delivery because I live a little further outside of their main route, but it's still very reasonable!). Some of my favorite dishes include the vegan Stromboli with broccoli, spinach, and vegan chicken (mushroom based, not soy-it's fantastic!). I also love the penne with vodka sauce and vegan chicken. Their buffalo chicken pizza is fire! The sauce is amazing. And speaking of fire, their latest creation is an actual flaming vodka pizza, served to your table in-house with the flames still blazing! Very dramatic, but equally delicious. I had mine with vegan pepperoni and meatballs. Wow. Even their salads are special. Try the Summer Berry Salad with their tangy, sweet lemon vinaigrette. OMG ... the regular locations are closed for the holiday and kids are arriving from Florida EXPECTING ... LUSTING FOR ... DREAMING OF ... LICKING THEIR LIPS IN ANTICIPATION of PIZZA!!! Yes, we may have made the mistake of promising pizza but little did we imagine that the two joints we normally go to would be closed for the 4th of July. The good news and it really turned out to be good news is that we had one previous experience with Romans and we can't help but notice all the cars that are always in the parking lot when we drive by. So with trepidation, I call their number and yes a young man answers it. He was polite He was interested and he had pizza for us! I made the drive and I entered the pizzeria/restaurante and was very pleased to see a clean refreshing dining area and open kitchen. The three men working there all seemed to be enjoying their time together. Up into the air went a pizza, Yes I still enjoy seeing pizza tossed before I consume one. I was greeted with a smile. The prices were right and the aroma was striking my senses making me really hungry for pizza. The steady stream of customers was either retribute to the regulars or to the fact that every other place was closed. It didn't matter who walked in the door they were all greeted with a smile and a positive attitude. And, then it was my turn and he said Dave here's your pizzas. He remembered my name oh wait a second my name was on the order wasn't it. I reached out and held those warm boxes the tomato and cheese and veggies and pepperoni scents wafting back in my direction. I have to admit as soon as I sat down in the car I had to open a box just to look and I was really happy and what I saw. The large cheese actually went a little more than half with pepperoni the extra sauce was there and the veggie looked like a yummy veggie pizza. Everyone was happy and the pizzas were devoured. My wife ordered the spinach salad, but I'm sorry to say it wasn't in the bag. (Like Leo Getz always says "they F*%# you in the drive-through"). That's why they would have lost a star, but they called us to point out the mistake and delivered it. Who does that? I'll tell you Roman's Pizza House that's who! I WILL NEVER ORDER/RECOMMEND ROMANS EVER AGAIN‼ MAKE SURE YOU DOUBLE CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS, THEY'RE THEIVES‼ The first picture is my online receipt, I had placed the order online for pickup. As you can see my receipt says $11.49 + $11.49 + $11.49 + $10.99 + tax = $48.47. We arrive to the store and he tells us it's $60.16. We tell him that's not what the receipt said and he tells us he had to charge us for the extra sauces (so we were charged for 6 sauces). I tell him they already did, after breaking it down to him (because clearly he can't do math) he realizes he's wrong and takes off the three extra sauces. Then says $55.36. After being so frustrated and hungry we shake our heads and pay it. I ask for an itemized receipt. We sit down do the math again and realized the sandwiches and pizza were each $12.99. That doesn't make sense. We got charged ANOTHER $1.50 for each sandwich AND ANOTHER $2 for the pizza. But what were the charges and why didn't they show up on the receipt? After sending my boyfriend in to try and figure it out, the so called "manager" who originally helped us begins arguing with my boyfriend saying "well that's how the computer prints it" WHAT?? you're telling me the computer NOR you can do math??? he then tells him "well what do you want me to do?" Here's the thing, neither me nor my boyfriend care about the money, but it's the principle because how many other customers is he doing this to that don't notice???? I think of my grandmother going there and being overcharged for NOTHING and not noticing. THATS ROBBERY!!! After a lot of breaking down math and the "manager" still not seeing how he was wrong, sucked his teeth and gave my boyfriend the $7. Which had the manager handled it better would've went right in the tip jar, but since that interaction it went right in our pockets.
