Good pizza at a good price. The breadsticks weren't with the money but the pizza was pretty tasty!

The Caesar salad was good, traditional, fresh, and the correct size. The garlic mashed potatoes were good. But the wagyu NY strip was just incredible. It was almost black on the outside and just warm on the inside, a perfect rare as wagyu beef should be. The meat was unctuous and delicious without being greasy or fatty. It was so richly umami flavorful, perfectly seasoned. It was just an excellent steak. The bourbon bread pudding was a huge serving and wonderfully flavorful. There was some nice bread to go with the meal too. The smoked old fashioned cocktail before dinner was excellent. And I got a nice Cabernet that perfectly paired with the steak. Our server was casual but friendly with a good balance of hospitality and service. This was truly a great dinner and one of the best steaks I've ever had... and all of this in Ennis, Texas. If you're reading this review, thank you... but just stop reading and go to Ruston Cattle Company.

Seating is not ideally comfortable for a one and a half to two hour dinner, ambience is not too loud, but not exactly leaning on the side of anything remotely formal. Good for groups, good if you like steak....I will say if you like steak that is overcooked with a 1/2inch burned crust and very salty. Was excited to try the wagyu filet but it was overdone and impossible to enjoy the tenderness when you had to bite through so much burnt. Noticed that they serve a crème brûlée, and unfortunately, it did not live up to it its hype: I received a oval dish about 6 inches long that had a smidge over - I kid you not - a quarter an inch of crème brûlée, including the soggy caramelized crust. When I ran my spoon from one end of the dish to the other, it barely filled up half the utensil - it was rather saddening. Now I am the kind of person that believes in at least a "two times whack" with the bottom of the spoon in order to break the lovely caramel crust on top of a crème brûlée; this poor little dessert was not even thick enough for the spoon to rest upon the crème brûlée without it sinking to the bottom of the dish instantly. Positive notes, our waitress was a little misinformed on the menu, she might've been new and so that was not her fault as she did well in trying to accommodate our party of three - one who is particularly hard of hearing - and their Caesar salad was average, but nothing outstanding, along with the potatoes and brussels sprouts we got along alongside the meal. All this being said, if you like a variety of big pieces of overcooked salted meat with a thick crust, this is the place for you.

From the very first bite, you can tell it's made with incredible care and high-quality ingredients. The texture is an absolute dream--perfectly moist, incredibly tender, and it holds together beautifully without being overly dense. You honestly can't even believe there is a bunch of zucchini in it! Flavor-wise, they completely nailed the balance. It has that comforting, warm sweetness without being sugary, letting the natural goodness of the bread really shine through. It is dangerously good. Whether you're pairing a slice with your morning coffee, having it as an afternoon treat, or bringing it home to share, it completely steals the show. Red Oak has a total gem on its hands with this place. If you haven't tried Zucchs yet, you are seriously missing out. This is officially my new obsession. Phenomenal job!

What DID surprise me was the interior of Zucchs. We were told to seat ourselves in a restaurant that had very interesting twinkle lighting against a mostly dark interior. We decided to sit against a far wall in a booth and were greeted by a very charming waitress who told us all about the menu and Zucchs. Zucchs is listed as a $10 - $20 range dining experience. I believe this menu now reflects our changed economy with entrees nearly all greater than $20 and burgers and sandwiches greater than than $15. Salads with a protein $15 - $24. Desserts $13. Sides were very reasonable. My husband and I both ordered burgers. I ordered the All American Cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato and hold the mayo for me, add extra pickles! ($12.50) He ordered the Western Bacon Cheeseburger with Bacon, iceberg, tomato, onion rings and a side of BBQ sauce ($16.50) I didn't have to have fries as my side. I could choose from a list of 12 sides! Now you're talking. I chose the onion rings, my favorite with a burger. Our burgers arrived looking great, hot and yet I don't understand why they can't melt the cheese. Sigh. The Burger, otherwise, was terrific. Nicely toasted, thoroughly dressed, gave me everything I wanted plus delicious onion rings instead of French fries. My husband's BBQ sauce was spicy sweet and yummy. Great with the onion rings. I had heard, even read, that Zucchs was Red Oak's new upscale restaurant. But what I was hearing in a nearly empty restaurant was intrusive overly loud Country music and it remained that way for most of the time we were there. Yes. I should have spoken up. Now Zucchs is also billed as comfort food, American food for diverse tastes. I see nothing about the exterior or any marketing that says country. This tells me when it's nearly empty, the chef preference is country. Loud Country. Five stars for the Charming, thorough and sweet service though. She made sure we had everything, I mean everything we needed. All in all, we enjoyed our meal and would return. There's adequate parking and plenty of distanced tables and booths. Even a private dining room. There's a drive thru now, too!

The cocktails were not our favorite, but that definitely won't stop us from coming back to try other drinks on the menu. What makes this place even more special is that it's a true mom-and-pop restaurant sourcing food locally. You really can't beat that. Supporting local while getting an amazing meal is always a win.

Pink and honest in the middle, warm and willing, bread holding it all together like a good road holding a long drive. Nothing flashy, nothing trying too hard just flavor that knew where it came from and didn't apologize. The arugula salad came sharp and clean, green with intent, that bitter edge that wakes you up a little and reminds you you're still alive. It wasn't there to impress you. It was there to balance things out, like a deep breath between sentences. I drank Earl Grey tea, steam rising slow, bergamot drifting up like memory, like train smoke somewhere far off. It felt right. The kind of tea you drink when you're not rushing anywhere, when the world can spin without you for a moment and that's okay. Fern in the Wild isn't trying to reinvent eating. It's doing something better. It's paying attention. To ingredients. To pace. To the quiet pleasure of a meal done right. The store feels like walking into a family reunion with all the homemade goods that grandma brings and wine with relatives. Overall, the store felt warm. Cooper Farms had samples of their fruit wine, jams, and salsa out for those who were intrigued by the interesting flavors, like the peach salsa. My friend tried out the white peach wine and said the wine went down smoothly and had a delicious taste that could be dangerous if you are not counting how many glasses you are having. We ended up buying 3 bottles of wine ($22 but buy 2 or more get them for $20 each), a peach ice cream, and a peach milkshake for the road. Cooper Farms had stands of baked goods like pumpkin pie, pecan pie, peach cobbler, and so much more. The store opens up to multiple tables of snacks when you walk in and a jam/ salsa wall on your right. Food Review: Peach Ice Cream (5/5) I would recommend this to anyone who walks through the doors. I was expecting a sorbet peach but was surprised to taste cinnamon and a nutty flavor in my ice cream. The small portion was enough to keep me full for the rest of our roadtrip back to Houston. Peach Milkshake (5/5) The peach milkshake are for the drivers who can't active scoop and eat ice cream. The milkshake was just a blended version of the ice cream. It was a perfect to-go drink if you wanted to try their ice cream but need to focus on the road. Overall, I would love to come back here with family and have them try the ice cream. Next time, I would like to try out their baked goods. 10/10 would recommend!

She says she leaves it in her fridge and eats a piece day by day for up to a week! I like eating something a little sweet everyday so I'm going to take her up on that advice for sure cause I know I can't eat that whole pie in one sitting. First time I went there were problems with the food quality but the young lady at the cashier was kind and had a great personality and smile,so I reached out to Management via feedback and they got the problem resolved. The second time I came it was wonderful. I had allowed about a month to pass so that there could be retraining and management refresh. It was so good that I went back in and bought more so that I could take it home to PLANO, Texas to my wife who enjoyed it thoroughly. Again we had the same cashier whose catchphrase was I got you! She made it a nice experience. Tonight was just a reflection of poor Management top to bottom. The cashier looked irritated to be there and did not crack even a grin. She wore a scowl. No graciousness, no kindness. I did not feel welcome to be there. I placed my to go order on the app I went in at the appropriate time and they did not have my order. They had to search for it and then finally after we went through and I showed the order she took it over to the service line where they promptly informed me it would be 20 minutes to make the chicken. I wasn't in a big hurry and the woman who was in the line doing the serving was also very kind and had a nice smile and she make me feel like it was going to be taken care of properly so I waited. You can also tell the person working The Grill on the line was experienced. After about 25 minutes, my food did come out, but my order was wrong. I paid for a substitute to get the salad. I had to go back in and let them know. I was missing the salad. The same girl at the register then handed me a salad with the blue cheese dressing and walked in the opposite direction. I don't recall hearing an apology or anything kind or come back welcoming. Just the opposite. The salad that she handed me was disgusting! It was about halfway full, and most of the lettuce was brown and wilted. there were no carrots. There were no tomatoes. It was just sad. It looked like it had been served and then put back. So I'm sitting in my car and looked at this and decided I spent extra money for this and I wasn't going to accept it. I went back in and let her know that the salad was not appropriate and showed her what it looked like. She immediately threw it into the trashcan, but did not offer to look for one that was fresher when I asked if there was one that looked better. So I stated that I would just take the grilled vegetables. At that point, she said that's going to be another 5 to 7 minutes. At this point, I've been There nearly half an hour between waiting for my order and waiting in line to get my order and then waiting to return things that we're not right in line. So I. told her no, I wasn't gonna wait another 5 to 7 minutes for vegetables when I've been there that long. I started to walk away and then she said well what if I have another salad? She reached in and brought out a perfectly good, nice looking salad the difference was night and day! I have no idea why they served that junk that they handed me the first time. Again, no apology no graciousness. Just handing me the salad. I'm sorry but this place needs management training. Serious management training. The chicken itself was tasty. In fact, it was good, but I have a feeling that the macaroni was too warm as I've had it before. Based on my experience, I don't feel safe coming here in the future. Too many problems and too many opportunities to get sick or be given something which isn't right. Sadly, I when it's right I love the chicken, but it just isn't worth the drama. I can spend my money elsewhere and get consistent product and generally someone with a smile or at least that doesn't resent me being there as customer. Sadly **** NOT RECOMMENDED ****
