The joint has character, and long ties to the small community of Harwick. The current incarnation of "Bear's" was established by two brothers 44 years ago. The hand carved back bar probably goes back to the first bar here, which was probably (?) established between prohibition and mid-century? A big part of the attraction of dive bar lies in the patrons it attracts, and I came here early on a weekday when no one else was there; so any observations on that will have to wait for future visits. But the place has such character that I've already listed it among my favorite PIttsburgh area dives.
