I'm also posting photos. I spent $36. And I say it was money well spent. I'll let the photos speak for themselves.

Worked at this place when I was 16-19 years of age - haven't been back in 20 years. Most of these restaurants are gone but this one survives. Made me feel 16 again - some things on the buffet haven't changed a bit. Configuration of the restaurant is better - dessert area is a good add. This Ponderosa is well maintained - staff is nice and things done with care. It's like a K&W or Golden Corral but doing it's own thing. I laughed they still let the fries get soggy from the mushroom and onion juice when you get the tips. Wings are now boneless but the cabbage noodle thing was exactly the same. WTG Ponderosa for keeping it real.

Clearly I was excited when we got there.

Just as I remember it from my childhood, really disappointed the wings aren't the breaded wings anymore. That was the reason I drove an hour and a half to go.

Road tripping on a beautiful Sunday in Butler .. saw a sign for "ponderosa" .. I wasn't about to pass this up if there was really one still in existence? I remember going to ponderosa when I was much younger to the location on route 65. Walking in .. it was the same feeling!!! We were hungry .. it was a perfect time to go. I got a burger and regretted it but the buffet had everything! Tacos to mini corndogs to fried chicken to chilli even! . . I was just disappointed that I even got a burger because it was pretty much "meh" and I didn't even need it. The steak fries were pretty good. The desserts were ok - was disappointed with the carrot cake but everything else was delicious. I am a fan of pepsi so was pleased the restaurant served pepsi products. I was lucky enough to taste a little bit of the steak and was good just like I remembered. It was a fun visit! Thanks ponderosa for the good memories and decent food !

    Now *that's* hospitality.

I come here a couple times a year - this is a pretty popular spot with my family who live nearby. It's a buffet with a salad bar, various entrees, some a la carte steakhouse options, and desserts. Nothing on the menu is going to knock your socks off, but some items are better than others: the fried chicken is really good, the soups are good, the fudge brownie dessert is great. My go to is the steak tip entree. Pro tip: ask for A1 sauce - their own sauce is ok but not quite at the same level. For the price it's hard to go wrong, and if you have kids they will probably be thrilled. Plus they have wifi if you want to get some work done.

I just had to share with my fellow Yelpers our experience at the Butler Ponderosa across from Clearview Mall. We were worried about our visit as we read the not so great reviews. However, we dont have one near us anymore, so we decided to give it a go anyway. We were greeted nicely by Melissa, a manager. She was very pleasant and inviting. We sat down to see a very clean, organized restaurant, even the ladies room was clean. We all went to the buffet/salad bar and enjoyed everything we selected to try. Very tasty and the temperatures of the food were spot on. Our steaks were good, nicely seasoned and cooked to order. Our server Darlene was such a gem. She kept refilling our drinks without asking. She would remove our used dishes when she saw we were finished without asking. She would even ask if we were ok, if our food was ok and if she could get us anything. 5 star service with a smile. She was so appreciative when we told her how much we appreciated her service. I noticed how kind and friendly the other servers were to other patrons. They had nice short conversations while they had down time after they served their customers instead of hiding in the back. We thought that was really nice to see them interacting with the customers. Thank you Darlene, Melissa and the cooks who made our experience a great one. Be sure to ask for them when give them a try.

    This is what I received.

The Long Review I…read morehave lived enough life to confidently say that I miss the good old days. As a child I lived in a carefree world, feeling secure, loved, and protected. Protected by our parents and our society. We were encouraged to be children, we were encouraged to be innocent, we were encouraged to see that the past belonged to time, we were encouraged to right our wrongs, we were encouraged to honor strangers who would give their lives for us, we were encouraged to be brave, we were encouraged to have empathy for humankind, not just our kind. We lived in ignorance, never realizing the evil that surrounded us. Lots of horrible things happened but somehow SOCIETY shielded US. Moms and dads we never met brought fear into us with one statement " I'm calling your parents". We all knew it was a bluff but just in case... We lived at a place called The Dragon. A place we had only seen on National Geographic or PBS. A mysterious place across the ocean with mysterious people that looked exotic and talked differently than we did. The differences fascinated us. My Dad sent my mom a beautiful jewelry box that had a window in the front. I used to stare at the little hut inside that window, trying to see if anyone was hiding inside the windows. There was a bamboo bridge that went across the water with a sawmill that spun around when the music played. A hot pink lotus sat in the corner and reflected off of the mirrors. My dad walked through the door on a Marine Corps salary and told Mom to fix up because we were going out someplace special. We were going to eat Chinese, always making a pit stop for the one spoiled kid who had to have McDonald's. That special place was a place like this little bit of nostalgia. Some of you know what I mean, others never will. A place where they serve hot tea, and those little crispy things that are addictive. Where the waitress seems genuinely happy to take your order and even engage in small talk. A PuPu Platter where you don't wonder if they will substitute an item because it's all good. A kids-size noodle that is enough for a grown man, at a price that won't leave you broke till next payday. It turns out "Old fashion" isn't a bad thing after all.

You need to use fresher produce. I got the broccoli with garlic sauce, and, while the flavor was…read moregood, the broccoli was very discolored and brown in spots.
