Pizza inn was always one of those places I remembered fondly as a child. It had games, it had a big screen, they had a buffet so I could try, or not try, whatever I wanted without getting fussed at for wasting food. We are traveling through and called in advance because we have a large crowd. They let us know that they prefer a 72 hour notice and were not nice about it. This was the second Pizza Inn I called as a courtesy to let them know we were coming who would not accommodate us. This was a WHOLE no for me. Never again will I spend my money here. First the positives- the staff was very friendly, helpful and welcoming. That's it. This food was less than appealing. They took 30 minutes to put out the type of pizza we asked for. I strictly had the salad bar and the pineapple were spoiled and disgusting! This pizza joint is certainly no stranger to anyone living in the upstate of South Carolina. Actually it has over three hundred locations both domestically and internationally! It was founded in 1958 across from SMU. In Dallas , Texas. My daughter and I had the buffet lunch and it was swell! I didn't ask anyone but the pizza crust seemed more thin than usual! That's an improvement in my world over the more thick ones. The pies were loaded generously with fresh and tasty toppings. The service is unmatched! Absolutely no complaints about that! This is definitely the go to place for hot, tasty pizza for my family. I love the buffet concept and even if they didn't have one this would still be my favorite! I've been a fan of this chain since my first visit when I was a teenager! I have great memories of Pizza Inn! I actually had my first mug of ice cold draft beer in one of these places when I was sixteen years old! Yes, I was underage. But that was over 53 years ago! Only the cashier was using a mask properly. There were employees without mask such as food preparers. Or waitress had one with her nose out. People without mask were in the buffet line as well. It's a good place if you like cheap pizza and a crowd. They also are not selective on different options of pizzas. The salad bar was a mess, they don't really keep it clean and everyone getting salad you need to watch people in front of you as thier hands seem to be better than tongs lol. I don't know about the hype of this Pizza Inn. Don't get me wrong, good staff and good pizza, but it felt average. The selection/buffet does not seem as large as my local Pizza Inn next to Dollar Tree on E. Main. Maybe it's that the location is older. Meanwhile, it's Pizza Inn and it won't disappoint you. The bacon and ham pizza is really good. The pepperoni will hit the spot, and the spot will be hit deeper once you stuff your mouth full of chocolate chip pizza. My husband and I stopped here for lunch today on our way home from our weekend getaway to Helen Ga and Cherokee NC. The staff was so kind and courteous. They would walk around checking on the customers. While doing so they asked if there was a particular pizza you wanted added to the buffet. The food was hot, super fresh and delicious. The variety of pizza choices were wonderful as well as the fresh salad bar and pasta choices. They also had soup and some great sweet tea. I have eaten all over the U.S and this is by far is in the top 10. For price, quality of food and an excellent staff from the manager all the way down. Pizza Inn has always been one of our favorite places to eat, so today when we wanted to do something as a family, it was our first choice. We are always loyal to the one on Asheville Hwy in Spartanburg, SC. When we got there today, we sat down and waited on someone to come take our drink order. And we waited. And waited. Finally, we had our drinks ordered and went to make salad. There was hardly any lettuce and most of the toppings were empty, so Ashley, Whitney, and Jayven (he's only 5) made very small salads. Then what do you know...NO silverware. Not a spoon or fork in sight. I let our waitress know that we had no silverware, so she said she would go get some. We sat down and waited and waited and waited... finally I looked and she had put like 6 forks out but didn't let us know. So I grabbed them some forks and got a plate of 4 pieces of pizza. I gave Jayven one and Kaysen a piece of one (Kaysen is 2). Everyone starts to eat. The salad was hot so no one wanted to eat it. At this point, everyone else goes to get pizza. Ashley got 2 pepperoni and 3 garlic cheese. Whitney got 3 supreme looking pieces. I ate 2 pieces of pizza when Whitney found a piece of curly black hair BAKED into the cheese. I almost threw up. We didn't eat another bite and wouldn't let the kids eat because who would?? I told our waitress very quietly so we wouldn't alarm anyone else. She said she would get a manager. We waited. And waited. And waited. Finally she came again and asked if anyone had talked to us. We said no and she left again. Keep in mind we're still hungry and we have 2 hungry kids. We waited. Finally the man who brings the pizzas out came to our table and asked for the piece with the hair. We gave it to him and waited. Then we waited some more. About 15 minutes later he came back and said we didn't have to pay for Whitney's food and walked away. I was LIVID because NO ONE got to eat. I said I would pay for mine because at least I ate a few pieces but no one else ate. He said I had to pay or he would call the police. I paid, even though it wasn't right. I asked for his name and he wouldn't give it to me. I asked if he was the owner and he pretended like he didn't hear me. I asked him for the owner's name and he just walked away. He was the most disrespectful man in customer service I've ever encountered. I called corporate and gave them all of the details as well as DHEC. If even ONE person would have said "I am so sorry for this ma'am", I probably wouldn't have even minded to pay. But they were rude and disrespectful towards all of us. Just a warning for everyone going to eat there: DON'T EXPECT TO BE TREATED WELL IF YOU HAVE ANY TYPE OF PROBLEM WITH THEM OR THEIR FOOD. read more
