This is for certain, New York (Eastern Pa. Northern N.J.) style pizza, which is refreshing after enduring the Pizza in my part of Ohio. I grew up in NE Pa. and when it comes to Pizza, Cheese Steaks, and overall Italian cuisine, I'm very critical and have transported hundreds of doughballs back to Ohio, so I could enjoy real pizza. I was thoroughly pleased to take the first bite, and subsequently, the next 3 slices, of a pizza that had a good hydration, great undercarriage, and a solid ratio of cheese to sauce. I drove 35 minutes to try it, and I was not disappointed at all. If you're like me, and didn't grow up in Ohio eating what they refer to as pizza, you should absolutely give it a try. Service was fantastic, and the woman that took my order, and checked me out, was very personable, and obviously part of the family that runs the business. Getting in the weeds a bit, understanding that I'm a snob, LOL, The dough had the correct structure, but IMHO, could be cold fermented for a longer period of time to develop much more flavor. Other than that, sauce and cheese is completely subjective, depending on what you like. I can't wait to try the rest of the menu, and appreciate the effort and the food. You now have a customer for life.

I have to give a shoutout to their staff for their handling & caring of a older lady who came into Uptown Pizza lost & upset. She could have been anyone's Grandma. It was dark out & I felt so bad for her & wanted to help her but I don't know the area well enough to give her any type of direction. The staff at Uptown Pizza sprung into action to help her. Since it was so late & dark they opted to call the Boardman Police to escort her to her destination. That is what you do to foster a good community by being the reason the community is good. We ordered a Brier Hill Pizza and added hot peppers. There wasn't anything wrong the pizza. It was cooked well and the toppings were plentiful. It included both red and bell peppers. And they use their own mix of hot peppers, which I really enjoy. Not something out of a jar. I just don't enjoy their pizza sauce. I never have. It always seems to be lacking something. There just doesn't seem to be any flavor to it. It just seems like it is plain old bland tomatoes thrown on top of a pizza crust. The hot peppers added some heat and some herbaceousness to the pizza which made it more enjoyable. I guess that I will stay away from anything with tomato sauce from this location in the future. We also had a small order of boneless wings. They were crispy and huge. The amount of sauce that was included was just right and the flavor was on point. All in all, I would order from this location again just because the boneless wings were really great and because they used their own hot peppers. Best of luck to the new owners.
