We got two strombolis to take to our hotel... Neither of them had much sauce on them. For many years, they had always been overflowing with meat and sauce, so much that you could get several bites of food with a spoon or fork, from just the 'overflow'. Not this time. Only two or three bites out of the 2nd quarter of my stromboli had a tiny bit of sauce. The other three 'quarters' had no sauce at all. (These are always cut into four pieces). They were also burnt. We called but no one answered. I didn't feel like driving back to deal with it .. if this is what they are serving now, we didn't want to go back anyway. We took the $26 LOSS. We dined in for lunch at the Newburgh location. The lady who helped us at the counter was very nice. The dining room was clean, but the tables were a total 70s throwback, with giant faded photographs of pizzas on them. Like life size extra- large pizzas??? Well, it is a pizza place.... I guess. PK is known for their strombolis. We got a whole deluxe strom. A hot ham and cheese, and an order of wings, 2 bottled sodas ( fountain was broken). The wings were practically inedible, they had a mealy texture, the skin was soft, not crispy... eww . The sandwiches, while large, were quite dry. Nothing juicy or drippy or saucy..... just dry. The ranch dip from the wings did help a couple bites. So, 46 dollars and change later, sadly won't be back to PK. read more

We are from Evansville, but have moved away. We have to have a stromboli when we are in town. It's one of our staples.

If I could put less stars I would. I ordered the food 3 days in advance and still waited over a hour for the food which needed to be ready at a certain time(which is why I ordered it online) . They were highly understaffed. and whoever the manager is should be fired. clearly you can't manage or logistically coordinate the meat to the bun. shit Ill come manage this place for $30 a hour in my free time. highly disappointed would not recommend if you have to have anywhere to be or ordered thinking it will be quick, cause it ain't. read more

My dad is 77 and he likes his sandwiches extra toasted with extra sauce. I love him and like to get him what he likes whenever possible. We have been ordering from pizza king since i was a young child. Ordered the texas bbq today, xtra sauce, xtra toasted, same as always. No attempt was made to follow instructions, almost like they dont care hmmm. This happens about half the time, but today it made me mad. Maybe the one on weinbach will do better, we never had any problems at that location. Sandwich was dry and no evidence of toasting was present. Pretty delicious take out pizza place. I got some roasted wings and a veggie pizza. I waited a bit for the wings. They were made to order though, so it was worth it. The wings were tender and juicy and had a nice flavor. Pizza had a crispy crust and fresh toppings too. The building needs serious renovations though. read more

While visiting family in Newburgh during the summer, I placed my first order ever at Pizza King. Although I had seen Pizza King over years, I had never before tried it. So, at the end of a long day of driving from North Carolina, I decided that would be the day--it seemed like an easy solution to the question, "What's for dinner?". However, like Richard Marx used to sing, I should have known better--in this case, when no one would answer the phone when I called to place an order. Literally, no one answered. I even wondered whether the restaurant was open. In today's world of staff shortages, though, I decided to give Pizza King the benefit of the doubt and drive to the restaurant so I could place an order. While Howard Jones might be convinced that things can only get better, in this instance they never did. (Sorry, Howard.). When I walked through the front door, there was a man sitting at the counter, while a woman and an other man were handling the kitchen. They were doing all the work and payed little attention to my entry. Meanwhile, the man at the counter acted as though he could not care less about me as a customer, and he even struggled a little to take the order, despite my delivering it to him very plainly and directly. More determined than ever, though, I pushed through and completed the order . . . even though the entire time my Spidey sense was screaming at me to abort this mission. I was told that it going to take over half an hour before the food would be ready, so I went home to wait with family. When I returned, the man at the counter had not moved from his spot, although this time he now was struggling with a telephone conversation while eating a snack! (I felt sorry for the person at the other end of that phone call . . . and by then I absolutely was certain that I should have listened to my 30-minute younger self.) Initially, the total check amount struck me as high, and I certainly was convinced of that fact when I arrived at home and tried the food. Without a doubt, I had overpaid for what I received. The pizza itself was nothing less than a Hungry Howie's reject. And the chicken wings? Well, we had ordered the mild variety, but none of us--at least four different people tried them--could identify the flavor that was actually on the wings. We struggled through some of the food but threw away more than I care to admit. It was the equivalent of wiping your behind with dollar bills. Overall, this was an absolute horrific experience--I thought about calling it a dining experience but wisely changed my mind--and I can promise you that we never will return to this place. Very disappointed. I hate posting negative reviews and always try to find something positive. This time nothing.... Their Website says open till 10. Walked in at 7 and were immediately told the dining room closed at 7 and the restaurant is closing at 8. I grew up in Newburgh eating pizza and Stromboli's and now that we live in another state, we always try to hit it up when in town.... Tonight we tried!! First, they answered and immediately asked if I could be put on hold. Really no choice but to hold because they don't wait for a response. They set the phone down and I just waited. Unfortunately, no one came back. And then it was disconnected. I called again, and AGAIN I was getting placed on hold. I sort of yelled, "no wait!" I tried to explain that I was not yelling at them but wanted to get his attention so that I would not be set aside and hung up on a second time , but he set it down again!! Really??!! He did finally come back but never acknowledging the fact that twice I was just put on hold. I began to order, but my mom in the backroad asked if I was going to complain about waiting for over ten minutes, I softly said ," no, I don't want them to spit on or do something to my food!" He yelled back into the phone, "Wow!" And then hung up on me. Omg!! I called a third time; this time it was not to order a yummy sandwich at all! I asked for a manager!! Would you believe that the person who had hung up on me twice Is the person running this place? I did not begin to raise my voice until he began telling me that I was rude and have no idea what is going on. I do know that I was not treated as a customer worth taking an order from. I do know that I was talked sassy too and extremely unprofessionally. I do know that if this person is not the owner, then the owner should know that I, who was planning on getting two pizzas and two large Stromboli's, went down the road to Turoni's and fed my family. here we are on a friday p.m.. yes we were told it would be 45 minuets to an hour. and it was exactly that. the food was still slightly warm, and everyones sandwich which was 4 footlong sandwiches were burnt, not only in one spot but all the way down the top and bottom of the bun.we have eaten at pizza king on the west side and newburgh. will we eat there again, i think not. read more
