On a recent work trip I stumbled into Archie and Clyde's since they were conveniently located close to my hotel. They are an all ages establishment with an over 21 only bar area. I love sitting at the bar rail, and their rail can sit at least 30 people, nice and big! The bartenders are very friendly and the service was excellent! My go to item was their large thin crust pizza. It's always excellently cooked and crispy edges! Next time I'm in the area for work, I'll be sure to stop by for more delicious pizza and cold beer! read more

the service is not at all what it used to be. my group and i (3 people total) were seated for almost 20 minutes before we even saw someone. if the restaurant was busy, i would've understood the wait, but we were one of 2 groups there. the food tasted like it had been sitting for a while. one of the members of our group got a salad with her meal, and the dressing she ordered smelled old and like it had been sitting for a while. the restaurant itself seemed clean, but the environment from most of the staff seemed hostile and uninviting. this place used to be a place where my whole family and i would come, but i would not recommend it now due to the change in it overall. i would love to keep coming back, but after our experience today, that isn't likely. read more

We ate last night from 5-6:30pm. Our dinner was ruined by a party with two 5 year olds screaming and yelling and running wild in the front room. The family made no attempts to control the kids. It has been over 2 yrs. since I have been here. A friend asked me to meet her for lunch on a weekday, and because Newburgh has so few restaurants....we decided to give this place a try - again. My friend ordered the Grilled Chicken Sandwich with 2 sides. I love Ribs and decided to try their Friday special of 1/2 rack of ribs with 2 sides. It took at least 30 + mins. to get our food and our attentive waitress (an older lady) said it was because of the Grilled Chicken. I can't speak for the quality of my friend's lunch...but she was late getting back to work. I was pleasantly surprised by my Ribs. They were meaty, tender, and flavorful - but very messy. Why can't these places stand on the quality of their smoking/cooking skills and leave all the sauce off? The Mac'nCheese was rather dry and tasteless...would never order again. A huge soup bowl of mixed vegetables was my other side. It was your standard frozen mixture of cauliflower, broccoli, carrots....overcooked and mushy. I wholeheartedly agree with what some others have said about this place. It might be some people's idea of a homy/family style place, but it's also dirty (even our menus were stained) and needs a total make-over inside. As for the "patio" - why in the world would anyone what to set outside in the heat/humidity, breathing car fumes while watching people go into the grocery store....ludicrous! read more

Good food. Sweet potato fries are delicious, and there are several vegetarian options throughout the menu. They also have a diverse spectrum of flavors to choose from, ultimately leading to an amazing meal. Also very clean bathrooms! read more

We moved to Newburgh 2 years ago and we just discovered A&C. Honestly we didn't try it sooner because it appears to be a strip mall, casual, old fashioned and basic restaurant. We finally ordered a few weeks ago and we are hooked on the pizza. It's wonderful and is our favorite that we've had. The crust is so crispy! It's even good the next day in a microwave. Don't judge a book by its cover is the lesson I was reminded of once again. We like to get this as a treat at least every other week. read more

Love this place! My aunt and Uncle go a few times a week so I decided to tag along one night. The menu is extensive and has a lot of choices. The gyros are excellent, the sandwiches are great. Awesome pizza as well with a zingy sauce. I got the pot roast because I was in a down home mood that day and I was not disappointed. The pot roast came with two sides so I had to try the mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. Both were great, very tasty. I was pleased with the prices as well. I would definitely recommend going and sitting at the bar if you don't have kids. The bar staff is a lot of fun and very friendly. read more

I just wanted to give a huge praising of Archie and Clyde's. On Sunday March 11th, I had a large group of people celebrating my grandmother's 90th birthday. The room set aside for us was perfect for our group, but more so the service was impeccable! I did not get his name due to the amount of people in our group. Love to go here! Their salads are fantastic and huge! We had a large banquet group of cheerleaders here in October 2014 and had many guest filling an entire banquet room. Our service was flawless. For cheer our we travel in large groups together. Many times a group of 50 plus people can be a nightmare to dine with but this time that was not the case. They had our tables well staffed and the timing of the food was flawless. Because of varying arrival times we all received our food at different times but that was perfect because everyone enjoyed their meal hot. I knew this place was good for our family to enjoy dinner but I was very pleased to see the excellent service for a large group as well. Since our group had adults and children with us we had some picky eaters but their large menu took care of the pickiest eaters in our group. I highly recommend! read more

I admit we got there about 30 minutes before this place closed on a Friday night. When we walked in there was one employee talking on the phone and no one greeted us for several minutes. Eventually, we were seated at a booth. When the server took our drink order I asked for a beer that was listed on their menu only to be told "i don't think we have that anymore', i asked the server to check to be told again, "i think we stopped serving that". minutes later the server returns with the beer I asked for. After a few minutes, really a few-- as in two, our server was back to let us know they were getting ready to close the kitchen and he hated to rush us but we needed to order right then. I ordered the fettuccine with chicken and asked for sauteed spinach and broccoli to be added. My bf ordered the pork chop with german fries. His pork chop was by far the best part of our dining experience. It was about 1 1/2" cut and cooked just right. My pasta was the second worst thing I've ever been served, ever: the sauce was flavorless, the chicken was dry and had little flavor, the spinach was from a can and the broccoli looked and tasted as though it had been sitting on a salad bar for hours. When the server dropped off the check he asked if I wanted a box for pasta, which was sitting on my plate untouched. i told him no and he asked if something was wrong, I explained the lack of flavor and general awfulness of the entree... he then tried to explain how every place makes alfredo sauce differently. I'd also like to include how our server used the time we were looking over the menu to talk badly about a nearby competitor about how horrible the service was to the point where "people usually leave there and come here because we're more family-like." I have eaten here several times since I live 3 miles away. While the food has always been good the service is not. Infact I was just in there yesterday and sat for at least 15 minutes and no one came to even take a drink order. It was after the lunch rush so it was not busy at all. Was excited to try a local joint and saw this conveniently located next to the schnuck's we shop at. Unfortunately the cheeseburger was no better than a Burger King burger - my wife mentioned that it lacked seasoning and found it unmemorable. I had an Itaian Beef which I was excited about because I'm a Chicago guy and there aren't too lany decent options around Evansville for Italian Beef other than Cleaver's. The bread was decent, and while they had the essence of the flavor correct, the meat seemed like roast beef deli meat they bought at Schnuck's next door- and the lack of full green peppers was unfortunate- also there was no option to have the sandwich served wet- an utter disappointment. On the plus side they have a functional app you can use, and the food is cheap. But due to the poor quality we will not likely come back unless they make significant upgrades in quality. I would pay more for better food if it stood out or was unique, unfortunately this joint failed in both categories. My recommendation would be to simplify the menu and do fewer things with excellence (yes I stole this from Gordon Ramsey's restaurant renovation show)- that seems to be a blueprint for successful restaurants. Truly am sad that this was such a disappointment... Evansville needs more local joints doing good food. read more

My wife and I love Archie and Clyde's and the food has been great, but last Sunday we got the first food item they should remove from the menu. My husband and I got to Archies&Clydes around 8 pm. We were asked if we would like a table or a booth, we asked for a booth. We were asked to wait while she cleared a booth for us, it was not busy at all for a booth to be cleared but we waited about a 20 minute. When we were finally seated, our waitress immediately showed up, gave us our menus and asked for our drink order. The "Pomegranate Martini" was the cocktail special of the night, so I ordered that and the husband ordered the sweet tea. The drinks were at our table within 5 minutes then we ordered our food. My husband ordered the 1/4th lb. burger with cheese, fully dressed with the "Sweet Tangy BBQ Sauce" (as the description on menu specified) ...with NO "Texas Fries" on the burger, w/ Onion Rings instead of the chips that come with the burger, $7.95 for the Burger Meal. The "Texas Fries" are battered, deep fried onions and jalapenos put onto the burger. The husband cannot eat spicy foods and this was mentioned to the waitress. I ordered the same but with the Texas fries on the burger w/a baked potato instead of the chips. Ok...with telling you all that, lets start with the "Pomegranate Martini"...it was so strong, I couldn't taste the Pomegranate for all the vodka, I didn't drink it so that was a waste of $4. We waited about 45 minutes for our food, which came out looking really good. My husbands burger came out with the onion rings instead of the chips, like requested but had the "Texas Fries" on it. On both of our burgers, the cheese was all globbed up in one place and the "Sweet, Tangy BBQ Sauce" was so HOT, that when we took the lid of the small containers it came in, (sauce came on the side) we could smell the hot sauce. Of course my husband could not put that on his burger. My burger was fine, except it was very "pink" inside also the waitress brought my chips to the table along with my baked potato, stating she thought she would bring them anyway since they came with the order. I did not care for her making that decision for me, it was a waste of food. When our waitress came back to our table to see how our meal was, we started to tell her about what was wrong with our meal. This waitress really didnt have a clue on what to do or say except for strongly suggest that it was stated in the menu that the BBQ sauce said it was a "Sweet and Spicy Sauce" nothing about the Texas Fries on his sandwich or my burger still being alot pink inside. Then she walked away to never come back until it was time to pay. My husband and I was very upset because we knew what the menu said so my husband got up to go and request a menu and to see a manager. The manager came to our table with a very defensive attitude. The manager kept insisting that, that was the BBQ sauce specified on the menu. I proceeded to open the lid to the container and asked her to smell, I tasted it and it was very HOT! We said to her that the waitress was very well aware that my husband could not have spicy but yet she nor the menu mentioned anything about the sauce being HOT. My husband had the menu, showed the manager the menu w/ description, she was kind of a smart alec about the whole situation, she kept insisting that it was the "Sweet N Tangy BBQ Sauce" that they do not use Tabasco. I stated to her, it may not be Tabasco but it is some kind of hot sauce, we can smell it. I also asked her about the 100% Angus Burger being pink, and she just said that it was fine. All she just kept asking us was, "Well what would you like for me to do?"...REALLY??? Finally, I said, "I guess there is nothing you can do. Its not like we are asking you to do anything. Its not like we are asking for our meals to be comped, we just thought you would like to know that because of these situations, not having our order prepared like we asked, the menu not mentioning that the BBQ Sauce is HOT, would be issues you would like to know about, we are not happy." We thought you should know for future problems." The manger finally did bring my husband a Sweet and Tangy Sauce, which was AMAZING! After all of that, my husbands burger, which the burgers had a phenomenal taste, was darn near raw inside. We decided it was useless so we paid our bill and left. It sounded like the people in the bar was having a great time but we were not. We will not be back...at least not for the food or service! read more
