I don't write reviews often, but this place absolutely earned it. If you're anywhere near El Dorado, you need to stop at Pizza NLRcia. The food is outstanding, but what really sets them apart is the level of service. Honestly some of the best I have experienced anywhere. I walked in about 20 minutes before closing, which most places would not be thrilled about, and they welcomed me without hesitation. No attitude, no rushing, just genuine hospitality. While I was waiting for my pizza, someone, possibly the owner, came over and told me they had accidentally dropped my pizza in the oven and it did not look great. He said there was nothing wrong with it, but because of how it looked, they were going to give it to me for free on top of the new pizza they were making. That alone says everything about their standards and integrity. It did not stop there. I had also grabbed the last piece of tiramisu, and before I left, he handed me a coupon for a free tiramisu next time. That is not normal service. That is above and beyond. The pizza itself was incredible. Unique combinations, bold flavors, and clearly made with care. The tiramisu was just as good. Rich, balanced, and the perfect finish. This place is the real deal. Great people, amazing food, and a level of customer service you just do not see anymore. Must stop if you are passing through El Dorado. read more

Ok, so I left a review several months back about how Pizza Norcia makes THE best gluten-free pizza anywhere. Well, after going there almost every week since November, I've got an even better one. I don't have celiac, but am very gluten intolerant. After going there (a lot) the manager talked to me about how because their dough is from Italy (cleaner ingredients) and partially fermented from the sourdough starter, he's had people who couldn't eat gluten, eat the "regular" dough without a problem. The next time we went in we got 1 gluten-free and 1 regular. I ate my gf one but took a bite of the other (if you suffer you know it doesn't take more than a bite)...and nothing, no reaction, I was fine. So we order 2 regular pizzas the next time. I freaking almost cried. I ate the whole dang thing because it was the first time I've had "regular" bread/dough in 17ish years. The pizza is honestly 100/10 -- perfectly cooked, incredible flavor, and you can tell the ingredients are top quality. The customer service always matches the food, which makes the whole experience even better. Tonight Josue was our server and he was fantastic. His wine recommendations were spot on, and he was so attentive, kind, and genuinely welcoming throughout our meal. We left feeling so well taken care of. Oh my gosh, the pizzas at Pizza Norcia are outstanding. They are wood fired giving the crust a gorgeous blister. The crust is made from a sourdough starter giving it a darn delicious flavor and perfect chew. It's so satisfying to pick up a fresh, hot slice and watch that stunning cheese stretch. And better yet the flavors are just heavenly. Mmm. I'm in synch with this place. Luv the pizzas and Italian imported sodas. The staff are so darn down to earth and welcoming. The building is in a renovated brick building with a roll up fancy restaurant window/garage door. They keep the roll up door open providing a view to the main road. Tranquil view. But the dining room can get warm in a triple D summer day even with the AC running and the patio misters on. Digging the vibes and I don't say that about a lot of other eateries in this area of the town of El Dorado, CA. Logistics: Ordering is done in the inner room. They bring the food out to you. Menu offerings: Pizzas $17-$29. +$2 for gluten free pizza. Two salad options $11, $17. The imported Italian sodas are tasty and a lot less sweeten than domestic pop. Plus they even have a lunch menu served daily from 2-4pm. I know those hours aren't quite lunch, more like lunner or dinch time. Anyways the lunch menu offer smaller pizzas ( pizzettas) for $11 for margherita or two toppings, for $4 more you can make it a meal with soft drink and green salad. And only at lunch, they serve the Italian sandwich. They have weekday specials, current ones are: two pie Tuesday $55 for any two pies (excluding Abbot) and bottle of wine; three pie Thursday $49 for 3 pies from a select menu. read more

Pizza Norcia is one of those rare finds that feels like a hidden gem right here in El Dorado. Their pizza dough is truly exceptional doughy full of flavor and perfectly textured every time. I still find myself amazed at how such high quality pizza can exist in a small area and yet stand toe to toe with some of the best in the entire Sacramento region. It really makes you wonder how this place hasn't gotten even more spotlight because what they are doing with dough and toppings is outstanding. Every pizza we have tried lands beautifully from crust to finish. The balance of flavors and the way the crust holds up with each bite is something you notice right away. They also have a fantastic wine by the glass program and the Birra Nursia is absolutely delicious and pairs wonderfully with the pizza. It adds an extra layer of enjoyment to the whole meal and makes the evening feel more elevated and thoughtful. Even if it means a bit of a drive, Pizza Norcia is worth every minute on the road because once you taste it you understand why it is such a standout. I put them on par with the best pizza places in the Sacramento area without hesitation. We stopped here after a day at apple hill. I was surprised that it was so close to Poor Red's. We ordered a Margherita and a Carnivora along with beer and wine. You order at the counter and then sit down with a number. We arrived around 2:30 and we must have caught them in between lunch and dinner. There were only 1 or 2 tables of people before we sat down, and no one had food. I think it took a good 15 minutes to get the wood fired oven up to the proper temperature, because I know it only takes a few minutes to cook these thin pizzas. We were very pleased when the pizzas did arrive. They were legitimate wood fired pizzas like you get in San Francisco, tasty crust, nice sauce and solid toppings. I think the building might have been a former car repair shop, because they had a giant rolling door that can open up to the dining room if it i warm enough. read more

We ate here for the first time on Friday, February 27. This is unquestionably the best pizza we have had in the area. Such a great find and only 15 minutes from where we live. For us vegetarians, the Michelino was excellent. Loved the mushrooms, broccolini, artichokes, green olives, and smoked mozzarella. Our son had the Carnivoto and said it was wonderful. We also shared the Burrata Salad, which was plenty for three people. The beets on the salad were so good. We didn't try the homemade tiramisu this time, but it looked incredible and we will order that next time. Service at this place was excellent, and everyone went out of their way to be helpful. The Italian wine we ordered wasn't the best, but we will try some of the others next time. I would recommend they have some good local wines from El Dorado or Amador County available. read more

Stopped by this adorable little place looking for lunch! My husband and I got the lunch special - individual pizza, salad, and drink. The mixed green salad was topped with cherry tomatoes and strips of fennel with oil and vinegar salad and hand grated cheese - very good. The wood fired pizzas were delicious - my husband had pepperoni and sausage and I had sausage and green peppers. The sauce was yummy as were the toppings. The crust was crispy and delicious. My husband really enjoyed his "Coke" imported from Italy. All in all, a great place to stop for some yummy pizza, cute atmosphere, and great "oldies" playlist! Highly recommend! read more

came here on a Friday night on our way up to Camino to visit friends. It was busy. Our friend told us to order right away because food is taking long. It's one of those order then find a table kinda place. While in line looking at their menu online, I noticed there's a way to place an order online for pick up and it was only 40 mins wait. To skip a few people infront of me, we ordered our food online We got the truffle pizza w prosciutto, the beets salad, an ale and an ipa. The food did take long to be ready but honestly it was worth it. The food was delicious. The beet salad was fresh. The only regret I have is I wish I ordered two pizza to try a different one and wouldn't mind having leftover. The owner ended up showing up to help w the service. He was nice enough to bring us plates for our food (since we ordered online our food came as to go). He also checked up on us a few times which was really nice. This is the best pizza in El Dorado County. Some people say it is expensive, but not really considering the excellent ingredients. You want quality, you need to come try this place. Team here is spot on, they sometimes put too much dressing on the salads so ask for that to be light, if you want less calories. Or prefer just less. They are on a busy road but the inside is cozy and definitely warm and a rainy 3 season night. Not 5 star ambiance by any means, but in El Dorado County that is like 1 out of 100 restaurants, so you can't diss them for something nobody in Eastern California really understands. 4.5 stars My partner suggested this place on a whim while we were visiting the area, because we love Neapolitan style pizza, and they offer a gluten removed wheat flour fresh pizza crust for me, which is a SUPER RARE find. This is 1 million times better than frozen gf crusts unless you're allergic to wheat, and I'm super appreciative of the extra effort they take to offer this. The main reason I can't give it the full 5 stars is the place only has air conditioning in a little room where you order your pizza, but not in the main dining area which is one of those big industrial spaces with giant garage doors that are open. This might be acceptable for people who live in this area and are used to eating in a 90° atmosphere. But that just is never going to be even close to comfortable to me, so we took our pizza to go and ate it in our 69° hotel room. I wasn't sure what to get so I tried the Quattro stagioni so I could taste a variety of things. I didn't realize it wasn't going to be all 4 toppings all over the pizza, instead there were 2 prices that had each topping. The pizza was flavorful enough though that this was plenty. I was a little unsure about the green olives but they were great, tasted more like black Greek olives to me. The mushrooms were tasty but they made those pieces too soggy. It would be better if they cut them into smaller pieces. Crust was amazing, the 2nd best gf pizza crust I've ever tried. I can't distinguish it from the real thing. Prices were average and wait time was pretty quick even on a busy Saturday night since this type of pizza cooks in just a couple of minutes. I would definitely come back next time we're in the area, especially in a different season when the weather is cooler. read more

Followed up with Chef du Monde Maria (big Packer fan from Wisconsin) working the brick pizza oven inside a 170 year old general store from original town of Mud Springs that became El Dorado. This is my 2nd time to Pizza Norcia! The crust is just right, thin with the perfect amount of sauce that's not too soggy or skimpy. We had their house special and mushrooms sausage, simply delicious. Stopped by for a late lunch (2pm) on Saturday. Place was empty when we got here but 3-4 other parties showed up to dine in while we were here. Seems to be doing decent business, but not crowded at all. Parking was easy - we found a spot half a block up the street. It looks like it could be dicey when the area is busier though! The pizzas are 12". Would be fairly easy for a hungry person to put away a whole pie, but splitting one is reasonable. My wife and I split a Combinazione. It was good, although I would probably go with fewer toppings the next time around. The crust in the middle was on the floppy (maybe underdone even?) side. I say just good but nothing beats a pizza baked in a wood fired pizza oven - I would take "just good" here over most pizza places every day of the week! But I think their recommended/popular options should be ones where the doneness in the middle is not at all in question. The ambiance is great. Chill lounge music, nice wood tables and chairs, rustic aesthetic, with the pizza oven in the dining room where you can see it. Overall, I recommend. Keep toppings light to have a more done center. My Sister and I came here on a Saturday afternoon and it was not too busy. We shared the beet salad that came with an enormous glob of burrata cheese and the Quattro Stagioni pizza with proscuitto, mushroom, artichoke, and olives. The salad and pizza are very generously sized-plenty of food for two! The staff was attentive and friendly, and the food was amazing! It was a nice day so they opened up the sliding garage doors and let some fresh air in. The atmosphere is very laid back and comfortable. The pizzas are made to order in the wood fired oven at the back of the restaurant. For summer it is open the street with misters. We ordered the green salad. It was huge and easily shareable for 3-4 people (we were only 2 and took half home). We tried the Nicolò pizza with pepperoni and olives. The crust was thin and crispy and chewy. Delicious.
