On our first visit to Amore Mio Italian Bistro we were impressed, and we left completely satisfied. The food was delicious and perfectly prepared. The staff were polite and on top of everything. I had the lasagna and it was hot from beginning to end. I felt it could use more pasta, but it was rich and satisfying. My wife said her Tuscany soup was "chocked full of goodness". She felt a bowl would've been too much, so the cup was perfect. She also really enjoyed the amount of cheese and artichoke in the beignets. The artichoke was present but not overwhelming, and the cheese was creamy and delicious. The meal came with a side of warm bread, and it paired perfectly with the side of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. We look forward to many more meals here. We sat outside with a nice view of a small creek. The sound of the freeway can sometimes take away from the peaceful outside ambience, but it's nothing the restaurant can control. The bad - it took just under an hour to get our food and my order was entirely wrong so we had to wait another 20 minutes for it to arrive. We decided to just take it to go. They did give us that meal for free. With our party of four including a bottle of wine and an appetizer was just under $200. A bit pricy but like I said the food was delicious. We discovered this absolute hidden gem for our anniversary and couldn't have been happier. Even without a reservation, the staff was incredibly accommodating and sat us immediately. We chose to sit inside, but there was also outside seating available.. which offers a beautiful, serene view overlooking a cute creek--the perfect atmosphere for a special night. The food was phenomenal from start to finish. We started with the bruschetta, followed by the seafood linguine and a perfectly prepared chicken marsala with pasta that was cooked perfectly. Located in a small complex off the Main Street in Placerville, Amore Mio has an outdoor seating area along the creek area. Although it is not far from Hwy 50, the creek sounds mask the traffic noise. If you are chilly, there is a basket of blankets to choose from. There is seating indoors as well. Upon arrival, you get a small bag of crusty bread with an olive oil and balsamic vinegar dipping bowl. Had the chicken marsala with mushrooms which was served with a side of pasta of your choice, I decided on the gnocchi. Amazing flavor, the sweetness of the sauce complimented the thinly sliced mushrooms and tender chicken. Gnocchi had a good texture to it. Paired with a glass of Boeger Cabernet and it was perfect! The cooler climate produces a cab which isn't as big as Napa and I preferred it to the Barbera which I was able to sample. Out cheerful and helpful server added to our pleasant experience! I actually came here again for the second time in three weeks. This time ordered the ravioli, there were five pieces (possibly six?) of ravioli pasta. I dined here a couple of months ago. Since it was for a reserved dinner party. I got to taste a variety of dishes, family style. The regular menu is by single serving size entree, no family style servings. They offer gluten free pasta dishes. Most of the pasta dishes contain dairy. The table ordered lemon chicken and gnocchi in bolognese sauce for the lactose intolerant folks. The menu stated the lemon chicken was made with a white wine and olive oil based sauce. But the sauce looked and tasted creamy with no noticeable lemon flavor. The sauce tasted very similar to the potato gnocchi del norcino white cream sauce. The chicken was a bit difficult to cut through with the knife that was provided. The knife cut like a butter knife. Also instead of the gnocchi in bolognese, the dish came out as gnocchi del norcino with cream sauce. The cream sauce was rich and creamy, it was yummy. I gotta say, this place is tiny. The tables are set really close to each other in the main dining room and in the semi-private room. Tight squeeze. And when it's a full house, it gets loud in there. read more

When we arrived this evening, January 6,2026, this place was pretty empty at 5:50. We wanted to get an appetizer, glass of wine and food to go, we have family at home not feeling well. If you are in the area during these colder days please remember to make a resy! They are super busy and you will end up sitting outside. The great thing is that they have blankets and a heater that they can bring outside but it still does feel a little chilly as the night goes on and temps drop. We ordered the bruschetta, which was by far the best I've ever had. My husband doesn't usually like it because it's on hard toast. Not here!! After seeing the episode of Guy Fieri's newest show, my dad suggested we go try Amore Mio in downtown Placerville for a bite to eat. Tucked away in an inconspicuous corner, Amore Mio is amongst good company - the restaurant is located just steps away from another Placerville classic - Timmy's Brown Bag. But all of that aside - let's talk food. In addition to their fresh and delicious bread, we started our meal with an order of fried calamari. The calamari was delicate and cooked to perfection. My dad, husband, and I decided to each order a different dish to share for our entrées. My dad ordered the infamous Pope's lasagna while my husband ordered the beef ravioli, and I decided to try the cheese and sage gnocchi. When I tell you that each and every one of our dishes was made with love, you could truly taste it. The pasta was perfection, and every ingredient was carefully and thoughtfully included. All three of us decided that the Pope's lasagna was our favorite dish of the three followed closely by the beef ravioli, and then the gnocchi. With dinner being absolutely divine, it was hard to say no to dessert. Again, we each decided to order a different dessert so we could share. My dad ordered the trio of beignets while my husband ordered the affogato, and I tried the ricotta and pistachio cake. Again, all three desserts were clearly made with such careful thought and love. They were delicate and balanced, and not overly sweet. Came here on an impromptu visit with my family. 3 adults and child. We were seated and it took something like 10+ minutes to get our water alone. We ordered our food and after about 40 minutes I had to ask the waiter what was going on and how much longer would it be. He told me 15-20 more minutes, to which I told him to please pack it up Togo because we could no longer wait. The wait staff was barely apologetic and barely seemed to mind that we waited nearly an hour for our food. We took the food home and it was really not worth the $90 we spent on three plates of pasta. And was definitely sullied by the poor in-restaurant experience. I can understand the Italian ethos of taking your time but this was wild. I try to have as much grace as possible in these scenarios but this definitely feels like a mistake to have come here. Very unlikely to ever return. read more
