The good- nice atmosphere and the food was delicious. The staff was friendly. The bad - it took just under an hour to get our food and my order was entirely wrong so we had to wait another 20 minutes for it to arrive. We decided to just take it to go. They did give us that meal for free. With our party of four including a bottle of wine and an appetizer was just under $200. A bit pricy but like I said the food was delicious. I don't know exactly what the problem was with the amount of time for our food since they were not that busy with several open tables.

We discovered this absolute hidden gem for our anniversary and couldn't have been happier. Even without a reservation, the staff was incredibly accommodating and sat us immediately. We chose to sit inside, but there was also outside seating available.. which offers a beautiful, serene view overlooking a cute creek--the perfect atmosphere for a special night. The food was phenomenal from start to finish. We started with the bruschetta, followed by the seafood linguine and a perfectly prepared chicken marsala with pasta that was cooked perfectly. We even tried the affogato dessert, which was a delicious surprise! A huge shoutout to our server, Eden, who truly went above and beyond to make our night feel special. Whether you sit in their cozy interior or by the water, this place is a must-visit.

Located in a small complex off the Main Street in Placerville, Amore Mio has an outdoor seating area along the creek area. Although it is not far from Hwy 50, the creek sounds mask the traffic noise. If you are chilly, there is a basket of blankets to choose from. There is seating indoors as well. Upon arrival, you get a small bag of crusty bread with an olive oil and balsamic vinegar dipping bowl. Had the chicken marsala with mushrooms which was served with a side of pasta of your choice, I decided on the gnocchi. Amazing flavor, the sweetness of the sauce complimented the thinly sliced mushrooms and tender chicken. Gnocchi had a good texture to it. Paired with a glass of Boeger Cabernet and it was perfect! The cooler climate produces a cab which isn't as big as Napa and I preferred it to the Barbera which I was able to sample. Out cheerful and helpful server added to our pleasant experience! I actually came here again for the second time in three weeks. This time ordered the ravioli, there were five pieces (possibly six?) of ravioli pasta. Not as much food for me as the chicken but very tasty!

OMG!!! Everything was amazing!!! we could not get enough of the artichoke beignet!! we had the tortellini, ravioli, and the chicken Gorgonzola and OMG outrageous!!! And that's not even mentioning the fresh baked bread.

We've lived in Placerville for 2 years now, and my biggest regret is that it's taken us this long to have dinner here! - Professional and family friendly staff. - Prompt service, but enough waiting to get enjoy your food and the company. - Food made with intention and pride It's a cozy, MUST-dine-here experience.

The service and ambience were so friendly and warm! We arrived (2 adults and a 2yo) without a reservation on a Saturday evening, but they were able to seat us. We hesitated about whether our toddler could behave and the server was so so kind and assured us all would be fine. She did indeed behave and the people (employees and customers) made us feel very welcome. The food was good but heavier than we were hoping - lots of cream and meat - but we also ordered without questioning the Italian words on the menu that we didn't understand. Would definitely come back and order more carefully. The bruschetta was amazing!

This restaurant is a tiny, cozy bistro serving up authentic Italian cuisine. The owner/chef hails from Italy. The bistro is set back from Main Street down a pedestrian walk way. I dined here a couple of months ago. Since it was for a reserved dinner party. I got to taste a variety of dishes, family style. The regular menu is by single serving size entree, no family style servings. They offer gluten free pasta dishes. Most of the pasta dishes contain dairy. The table ordered lemon chicken and gnocchi in bolognese sauce for the lactose intolerant folks. The menu stated the lemon chicken was made with a white wine and olive oil based sauce. But the sauce looked and tasted creamy with no noticeable lemon flavor. The sauce tasted very similar to the potato gnocchi del norcino white cream sauce. The chicken was a bit difficult to cut through with the knife that was provided. The knife cut like a butter knife. Also instead of the gnocchi in bolognese, the dish came out as gnocchi del norcino with cream sauce. The cream sauce was rich and creamy, it was yummy. I gotta say, this place is tiny. The tables are set really close to each other in the main dining room and in the semi-private room. Tight squeeze. And when it's a full house, it gets loud in there.

The owner lady was fabulous. The restaurant was small and a bit tight. Traditional Italian style and flavor. Unexpected "ethnic" food in a small gold town known for hanging people during the gold rush! We recommend eating dinner there!

If you are in the area during these colder days please remember to make a resy! They are super busy and you will end up sitting outside. The great thing is that they have blankets and a heater that they can bring outside but it still does feel a little chilly as the night goes on and temps drop. Aside from that, the food is amazing! portions are really solid and you will have enough to take home with you. the bruschetta is a must! the bread was not too hard and easy to bite into which is usually the reason i dont order it but this was really great. cant wait to be back!

Pope's Lasagna... it may not look that big... but it is a LOT of yummy goodness!

I almost don't want to leave a review because I don't want everyone going and taking up tables and I can't get in ... but I have to! Because the food was incredible! We ordered the bruschetta, which was by far the best I've ever had. My husband doesn't usually like it because it's on hard toast. Not here!! They have freshly baked bread and the tomatoes are fresh and the balsamic glaze was to die for! He ordered a white lasagna and I had the chicken Marsala. There aren't enough words ro describe how fresh and delicious they both were. We ended with a lemon & mascarpone cake and an order of the chocolate filled beignets. Wow wow wow. The ambiance by the creek was perfect and the staff were great. We can't wait to go back!

While enjoying a meal with friends, I ordered a full iced margarita, only for the bottom of the glass to suddenly detach and spill its full sticky contents all over me and side seated companions. Not only did this ruin our shoes, leave us wet and sticky but it startled all of us and completely disrupted our meal. When I brought this to the attention of the management, I was met with a dismissive attitude. They simply shrugged it off, saying, "this happens," and refused to offer any form of compensation or even an apology. They mentioned that they had witnessed similar incidents with two other glasses, suggesting that the issue might be tied to the glasses coming out hot from the dishwasher and then being placed directly on ice. Instead of addressing my concerns seriously, the staff made light of the situation, which felt incredibly rude and unprofessional. It was disappointing to see such a lack of care for customer experience. I expected better from a restaurant and found it rather disturbing that even the waitress was afraid to bring it up to the owner telling us that he was extremely scary and would likely fire her for this if he was disrupted from making pizzas in the back. Furthermore, a few of my friends at the table also heard that the owner is really unprofessional and rude. It's unlikely any of us are I'll tell you in a will return, and I would advise others to exercise caution when ordering drinks here. A simple acknowledgment and willingness to rectify the situation could have made a significant difference in our experience. It's a shame that a fun night out was overshadowed by such poor management. Go elsewhere.

So if you like those Raiders of the Lost Ark vibes, then you would like sitting next to the mine for sure. It's roped off but you can hear the water dripping and it is naturally cool. The structure was originally built as a hotel in 1853 and has been well preserved. I ordered their Smith Flat House salad ($10) and the Jambalaya Risotto ($34) which consisted of Cajun-marinated prawns, lobster meat, Andouille sausage, grilled sweet corn with saffron chicken risotto. Definitely had a bit of a kick to it, the risotto was done well. My pet peeve is mushy risotto, it needs to have a slight bite to it which this one had thankfully. Love the fact that this place serves up local wines -- I couldn't recall the wine I had and they do not have their wine menu on their website. If you have the opportunity to visit, I'd recommend a glass of red from Starfield (winery up the road).

After seeing countless videos on social media, I was excited to finally visit this unique and whimsical-looking restaurant for Mother's Day lunch. Unfortunately, the experience got off to a disappointing start. When making the reservation, I was never informed that the restaurant would only be offering a limited Mother's Day menu. By the time we were seated and learned there were only five menu options available, with no access to the regular brunch menu, it was too late to make alternative plans. Not wanting to spend the holiday scrambling for another restaurant, we decided to stay and make the best of it. For the price, the food was underwhelming. Most of the dishes were mediocre, and my filet was noticeably overcooked. I had specifically been looking forward to trying items from their brunch menu, so finding out it wasn't available was disappointing. The cocktails were visually appealing but overly sweet and lacked balance. Another disappointment was the seating. Despite making reservations in advance, we were not seated in one of the restaurant's signature enchanted booths. To be fair, there are only three of these themed booths in the entire restaurant. The rest of the dining room felt somewhat dated and cluttered with dusty artificial plants. The overall atmosphere didn't quite match the magical experience portrayed online and on social media. The staff did make an effort to celebrate Mother's Day by giving moms elf ears and light-up tiaras, which was a fun touch and added to the theme. In the end, I left feeling disappointed. The concept and marketing create high expectations, but the food, seating experience, and overall value didn't quite live up to the hype. While the restaurant certainly offers a unique theme, my experience fell short of what I was expecting, and I'm not sure I would be motivated to return.

They do not, however they do something called a "fast pass" which basically means they put your name down and if you arrive while there's a wait, you get seated before anyone else who is waiting and does not have a fast pass. Kind of a different approach. I was glad that when we arrived, there wasn't anyone else waiting and there were tables available. Service was very attentive and friendly. He took our drink orders and allowed us some time to decide what to eat. Hubs and I both debated between multiple options- a lot sounded so good- but we both decided on the filet mignon. On the menu, it indicated that the dish comes with a béarnaise sauce; my husband really doesn't care for tarragon so he requested a substitution of their mushroom rosemary sauce instead (which is offered with their ribeye), and they happily obliged. The meal also included Yukon mashed potatoes and veggies. Our food was delivered soon after and I was pleasantly surprised that not only were our steaks still very warm but that they were cooked a perfect medium rare. The quality of the steaks was great, they were nice and thick. The veggies were, for the most part, overdone and a bit soggy, but that's not something that bothers me too much. The potatoes had good flavor but could have used much more milk/cream as they were pretty dry and firm. The experience was a good one and I would definitely return if we lived closer. I liked that their menu had a lot to offer- this is a good place for a family who has various tastes. Shout out to our server, Carver, who was great and provided very good service.

The food is outstanding, but what really sets them apart is the level of service. Honestly some of the best I have experienced anywhere. While I was waiting for my pizza, someone, possibly the owner, came over and told me they had accidentally dropped my pizza in the oven and it did not look great. He said there was nothing wrong with it, but because of how it looked, they were going to give it to me for free on top of the new pizza they were making. That alone says everything about their standards and integrity. It did not stop there. I had also grabbed the last piece of tiramisu, and before I left, he handed me a coupon for a free tiramisu next time. That is not normal service. That is above and beyond. The pizza itself was incredible. Unique combinations, bold flavors, and clearly made with care. The tiramisu was just as good. Rich, balanced, and the perfect finish. This place is the real deal. This could have been handled much differently leaving us wanting to try them again.
